What types of things do you do to prepare for tournaments? Many people practice with friends or play ranked non-stop. Do you play with multiple decks or just go with one variant and change it until it's perfect?
First, I choose the deck I want to play. Then I think about the meta decks, and how to counter them effectively with the deck I want to play. Then, I start figuring out what counters are available to my own deck, and I choose a sideboard accordingly.
At least, this is how I prepare for Managrind tournaments. In other tournaments (normally those with fixed decks), I just skip step 3.
I would usually analyze the current meta as well as last weeks and try to counter it with playing partners. If I see something having potential against the meta, then I would definitely play it in the tournament and if not I would simply try to refine the current played decks/archetypes and eliminate the obvious weaknesses they have.
I wake up 20 minutes before matches begin. I check in. I eat a little something. I start playing. I've already decided on my deck(s) the night before.
I'm not the greatest player, so I don't get to wound up about it. Managrind 7 I made it into the Top 32. Managrind 8 I got demolished in the first round.
