Netdecking is a controversial topic that people can't help but talk about. I feel it's really unhealthy for card games and the metagame in general. I feel like many people would enjoy hearing what a Pro thinks of netdecking.
No pressure, of course. I know you're a pretty busy guy. Have a good one, and thanks for reading.
Making Content about Top Decks is probably one of the main sources of content/income to self sustain, atleast in Hearthstone at the moment. If hearthstone would be balanced (competitively) to such an extend that the best players could consistently go and win tournaments, then most people would be more careful about sharing decklists. The reality of things is that blizzard isnt supporting/caring too much about the competititve HS scene and therefore the best players are forced to find other ways of making an income -> you are becoming a streamer, make articles, youtube videos etc and that's why netdecking/sharing of decks is so popular and i dont see it changing any time soon!

Thanks for the reply, and I agree with this. Even then though, if competitive HS was more like, say, Magic: The Gathering, it's really really hard to keep a 'secret' deck secret. The card pool in HS is relatively small and the strategies are all found relatively quickly. I'm having trouble imagining a HS team putting together a 'secret' deck and springing it on the metagame for some imaginary $1,000,000 tournament, you know? I could imagine a bunch of cool secret tech cards being added, though.
All that said, you're right, being a content creator is really the only way to make consistent money in HS.
People definitely do that for events like Blizzcon finals. It might just look like a few Tech cards that are different, but they will have a huge impact on the tournament. It requires a lot of practise with a selective group of practise partners. But for smaller majors, like Dreamhacks, people don't worry as much. The EV is simply too small
