Finishing up this season and I can't get past rank 16. My control pally isn't working very well. I think maybe i should change decks. I'm considering Handlock, Dragon Priest, Secret Pally, and Patron Warrior. Which one do you think is the strongest in the current meta?
Patron warrior and secret paladin would be the 2 strongest of the decks you listed then probably the priest then handlock. Secret paladin > patron if you aren't experienced with it though.
Mid Range hunter or Secret pally should work well. Check out my stream. Maybe I can help you out. Give you some deck lists and maybe some tips

Hey guys! New streamer with a small following so I do answer all questions. I don't consider myself great but I have hit legend every season I have played. I'm just your average Joe with a pretty card back :D
It's less popular recently but I still run face hunter down to rank 5 and consistently make it within a few days with relatively little play time. The games are fast so you'll get a lot in and rank up pretty quickly. Don't try to it past rank 5 though since it's not consistent enough to keep pace after rank 5.
At rank 5, any of the tier 1 decks should be fine.
Any deck or any class works as long as you have the time and skill to run the deck. There are no OP decks or auto legend decks, they are only limited by the player behind them, play any class or deck you want just learn the master them and play well. Your decision making will win you far more games than a net deck or RNG ever will (you might lose maybe 1/10 games to RNG if that based on shredder drops). Trumps even hit legend with F2P decks so you realistically don't even need all of the cards either.
I recommend a fast and reliable deck, secret pally may be ok to rank up to 5-10 in a few days.
Anyway, as unpolite as it may sound, unless you are real new to the game and lack basic cards (juggler, doomguard, etc.) if you're struck at rank 15-16 the problem is not only on the deck. You may need to pay attention to the meta you are facing and adapt to it, and also pay more attention to your general playing, so that you learn of any possible misplay you may commit on one game, so you don't repeat it the next game.
I assume you are not lacking all those cards if you are thinking of switching to handlock or dragon priest, that requires a few epics to work.
Played correctly, almost every deck (and certainly, every well-constructed deck that lead someone else to legend) can lead you up to rank 5.

I just started playing about 6 months ago. Also, I'm in high school so I have a lot of homework and football practice and can only play about an hour a day. I'm a noob and crafted Foe Reaper 4000 before Dr. Boom. I've made a lot of rookie mistakes that I think hold me back and I'm trying to get better.

If piloted correctly, face hunter is also viable after rank 5. Yes, it is a very easy deck to play, but subtle differences in your play and decisions will make a or break games past rank 5 with this deck.
I admittedly haven't played it a lot, but I pulled it out for a quest the other day, and it had a great winrate for me at rank 2 to rank 1 on EU. But as with all decks, it greatly depends on your matchups. I just happened to pick it up at a time where my matchups were great ;)
People underestimate the finesse of rush decks. Yes, they are easy to plow through early ranks with, but to maximize their potential as competition grows tougher requires some finesse and perhaps the experience of knowing when to gamble.
I'll prolly get some flak for stating this, but I stand by it.

That's not a problem, you can and will improve :) Everyone has to improve when learning a new game. I think Secret Paladin, Midrange hunter, Zoo, and arguably control and dragon priest are great decks right now. Ofc, combo druid and grim patron warrior are tier 1, but they tend to be harder to master (specially patron deck), as they are combo and require you to stall the game, stall the game, stall the game,... keeping your resources until you can combo for lethal.
That's really interesting! In my experience, playing between ranks 1-5 this season, it was almost all Paladins (secrets), Warriors (patron and control), and Warlocks (mostly handlocks), with just a smattering of Druids and Priests, and the occasional Hunter.
I have just hit rank 10 with a token Shaman deck that is fantastic fun. There will be some matches where you just get blown away but that's the case with most decks I guess

yooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo
By rank 10~20 i'm pretty sure the Secret Paladin is the best of that options. Cause it's the faster one.
But, if you're stuck around rank 16, i don't think the deck is the problem. You should work on improving your general skill.

Dragon Priest! Incredibly fun and not too common.
Rank 16 this season? Try Facehunter.

Secret pally is good cause its just braindead plays and also top tier.

Greatness, at any cost.
