Also I've just accepted I'm just not lucky enough to get legend. I always make the most efficient plays and plan forward but even with a 60% winrate it's just not worth the time to get legend because I don't care about the game enough to grind for a week or 2 to get a worthless accomplishment in a pointless game of luck.
So I just farm 20 for all the quests and maybe a portrait in a year's time lol
You can grind faster at rank 20, but after u can loose your account so whole grind will be waste of your time and u be behind a player which chosed not to do that anyway
There is no chance to lose an account for farming rank 20. It is abuse of system but it is not cheating. Blizzard never ever said it is cheating neither they ban rank 20 farmers.
i have rag i have alex i have all of naxx and blackrock i have 2 fon i have dr balance i have grom antonitos or however his names spelt i have leroy and a few other excellent cards know what i cant reach legend for the love of god so i reach rank 13 then hit a massive losing streak get pissed off at the game and take it out on teh nubs i probbly just suck im sure thats it but farming a few wins and BMing the shit out of lowbies makes up for all those losses
Never saw the fun of farming rank 20. Besides it being laughably pathetic, and for scumbags who enjoy beating on the helpless. That's just it, this is a competitive game, it's like playing basketball with a bunch of 5 year olds....sure you'll dominate but there is no competition no satisfaction.
In ranked the competition gets harder and harder as you move up. In casual there is an MMR system, so even there you should be somewhat evenly matched.
I guess people with no lives and too fragile an ego to try to move up the ladders can sit there beating on new players with no cards at rank 20. Don't try to justify it though.
Farming rank 20 is like giving free training to low level players, I don't see a problem in that. Better than leaving rank 20s to rot at rank 20, and be stuck at around rank 20 for the rest of the time they play the game.
Not sure why you'd want to do community service like that though when the rewards are sitting in the arena, and farming rank 20 sounds like an incredibly boring drag.

I fail to see how low level players get any training from being destroyed by fully optimized face hunter decks. That's like saying I would get free training in boxing by fighting Mike Tyson. I would get knocked out in the first punch and learn absolutely nothing.

I don't watch boxing, so I don't really know how it works there. However, from my experience in gaming, it seemed pretty evident that many low rank players like to practice against players of higher rank when possible.
WoW was a pretty clear example since titles could be turned on and off. Simply leaving a gladiator tag on makes more players want to challenge you in a duel. Reason is simply because players want to see what you do that they can try to do themselves. StarCraft was a similar situation where observation games in many cases had lower rank players want to challenge the Masters players that were in the room. When you play at the higher levels of most games, there are always low level players that want to go up against you to see what's the difference in play.
Realistically, learning a game playing against players of a similar level is a very slow process. You win not because you played properly, but because your opponent made too many mistakes. Hearthstone is even a better example of this than both WoW and StarCraft because the game doesn't require APM to compete. So at the end it's just a matter of choices (and of course RNG).
The fastest way to improve generally involves someone of a higher skill to play with/against. Playing with only players at too close a skill level is just running circles and not really getting anywhere.
Maybe they could keep track of how many wins you have at each rank over a season, and give rewards based on an 'average rank' at the end?
That way people could still farm Rank 20 for gold and portraits, but they would tank their average and miss out on better rewards elsewhere. Conversely, you could farm higher ranks to drive your average up; since losses aren't counted, just hovering at Rank 3 with 50% win rate would boost your average slowly.
That would screw up people who don't want to be tryharding the entire season, which was the original purpose of the reward system, not doing that.
I find your poll very curious. Right now the "it's ok" slot appears to be "winning" but that's only because there FOUR "no" spots. Not sure if that was your intention so you could claim victory at the end since people are going to vote for their favorite variant of "no".
I selected "it's morally wrong". It sickens me how many "gamers" these days have absolutely no sense of sportsmanship or camaraderie. As an older gamer I grew up in a time when "gamer" was a tantamount to an insult (along with "nerd", "geek", etc.) Back then gamers tended to be a tighter knit group who were a lot more supportive of one another.
These days is seems like a lot of gamers have this "I'm leet and you are a scrub" mentality. It's really sad.
Bottom line, imo, it's wrong to farm 20 as it's harming the game (as others have mentioned).
The whole farmer thing is starting to pass with time, why? Because player between 15 and 10 are now players who have been legend and are having quite the trouble in advancing in the meta. I know because I faced them, almost everyone has a meta deck, it's been almost 2 years of hearthstone an the newbies from 6 months ago are the veterans of today. The ranks are overloaded with players with a decent collection resulting in reaching legend being harder than ever. It will reach a point newbies on rank 20, unless they make a decent collection to make decks good enough to counter metadecks in some sort of way will remain there. And then hearthstone won't change much, since it's all about farming casual and tavern brawl gold and opening packs and adventures.
I highly doubt any ex-legend players are actually having a hard time anywhere under rank 10. I bet it's just screwing around with random deck(s) they don't usually play. I'm pretty sure most players with legend experience could do rank 25-5 in a day if they actually wanted to.
Some decks I've seen spectating games around rank 15 look nearly as bad as the basic decks, lol.

That's rank 15, but between 10-5 it's all meta. In 1 year even rank 20 will be flooded with tempo mage and facehunter and midrange hunter and mechmage.
I can't speak for whats changing over time in ranked, as last season was the first season i really tried playing ranked. However, when I did 25 to legend last season, over the course of probably 130-150 games I noticed very little change between decks after like rank 15 or so. Yet even at like rank 5 to legend you can still see people playing meta decks they don't know how to play.
The so called meta decks will always be played, because people have a tendency to play what they lose against. But that doesn't mean people know how to play the decks.
This thread made me lose a lot of faith in humanity, you would think people play this game for fun but I guess there are those who play to farm gold and skins that don't even actually help you. I don't see anything fun in constantly beating people who don't have a chance nor free wins or playing just to grind for pixels and programming. I'm in no position to judge other peoples lives but damn if that's what you see as being a good time... Well atleast when they're elderly they'll be able to tell their grandchildren, "Well I farmed a shit load of gold and all the portraits in hearthstone and it was a hoot."
I don't understand how people find farming enjoyable or anything other than an embarrassing waste of their time.
Mostly I'm hanging around rank 15 or so, because I don't netdeck, and probably because I'm not great either. Last season I had a bash with an anti-aggro teched CW, made rank 7 then stalled and went back to coming up with fun decks. I play casual to test out new decks, then have a bash at ranked if I think the deck has a chance. And usually get my hopes dashed...
When I see golden heroes I pity them, guessing they're farming and love it when I beat their pathetic arses. Dammit, I don't even want a golden hero because I don't want people to think the same about me and auto quit. It was bad enough today when I was trying to come up with a paladin control deck in casual and one person quit after I played argent squire first turn, and another after I played muster for battle. I know how they feel, I'll often quit casual if I recognise say a secret paladin or mech mage.
I hope I'm a fun opponent for new players, they'll have a chance against me and get to see lots of cool cards and deck types (I won't use certain things anymore - Dr. Boom, mech mage, MC, face decks, virtually any aggro, I might add paladin to that list...).
The game's supposed to be fun, I can understand people netdecking to get a high rank, although it doesn't appeal to me that much, maybe I'll have a try for rank 5 next month, but farming - it just seems so soul destroying.

Farming Rank 20 is most efficient way to get rewards of the game. It´s 100% safe.

"100 gold per 2/3".... 1 pack is like $2.99...
get a damn job... factor in the hours wasted on farming and the electricity bill... poor plebs

Honestly I just do it because I want to make more decks and hate climbing ladder
I'd say it's unsprtsmanlike
Why is there no, "I don't care" poll option?
You do not truly know someone, until you fight them.....

Farming is fun.
