What is it with players who insist on not killing their opponent with lethal on board, until they've done everything else they possibly can on their turn? Is it just to waste time? Or is it just e-peen stroking/trolling your opponent? I find it supremely annoying, and i wish these players would just take the W and move on.
as someone who has wondered the exact same thing I can empathize. however, after much consideration I don't believe there is any 1 reason people do it. Some are just trying to execute the proper play every turn (even when its overkill), some people are just trolling and self pleasuring because they believe they are causing their opponent extra misery. also, its possible to go thru the motions of a turn and not realize that you had lethal without casting every possible card in your hand.
tl/dr: there are alot of reasons people do it, but i do think the majority are stroking some form of ego. "ooooooooooo, i just rekt you noob" that kind of thing.
It's just to show supreme power and dominance, just concede once your opponent has lethal if it bothers you THAT much

Just hit concede. My personal approach is I let them swing in for the win, but if they start casting spells or attacking minions I concede as fast as possible.
Now onto legitimate reasons they MIGHT be doing it... quests! Destroy 40 minions, play 20 minions over 7 cost, ect.... I generally don't do this since I do consider it rude but i'll do it every once in a while to polish off a quest if I'm really close to finishing it off.
if it was a fun game, i sometimes do it to show more of the cards i've put in my deck (i play a lot of unusual cards^^) to show my opponent some of the choices i made deckbuilding and options i would have had :o
if it was a boring game: why even bother wasting more time on that opponent :p
It is annoying. You can concede anytime, no need to wait until the end. At times I am doing it, to show that it was not the top deck which doomed him, that I had enough options at hand (for example silence, etc.)
The above four responses are pretty much what is happening if they are actually playing cards instead of just roping (usually).
In summary:
1) To show off some of the cards in your deck, perhaps more unusual ones or the last ones in your hand. 2) To earn more XP from the match - maybe they're close to levelling? 3) To show you that they had multiple ways to kill you - maybe they feel you won't be as rage-y if they show you that you definitely lost. 4) Quests. This I feel is the most common - it's why I do it most often, anyway.
And as was suggested by other people, if you don't want to wait for them, just concede - just remember that by doing so, you give up the opportunity for them to screw themselves out of lethal.
As others have stated, some people do it for the extra XP. If you have lethal, I'll let you play cards for that extra bit. But if you start to BM I'll just simply concede.

Well, for me it is less annoying to see he not just topdecked lethal. And its about a few seconds more than just rushing through.
I usually do this cause of one of the following reasons:
- my opponent emotespammed me while having a lead and lost at the end
- i got a quest to kill x minions or play y minions
- to level up my hero
That answers the OP. When I'm playing a class that isn't 60, sometimes I'll play one or two cards more than what I need to win, but I'll try to do it as fast as I possibly can without screwing it up. Anything above that is BM.

That's my normal approach, too. However, just now, I was playing on my laptop with touchpad, which meant my control was a little slower than it would have been with a mouse. While I was heading for the Concede button, I realized that my opponent had just traded one more minion than he had to spare for lethal damage. I let him finish his turn. Both of us on 3 health, me with an empty board and empty hand. And what do you know, I topdecked the Southsea Deckhand that gave me the win. :-)

I need to topdeck IRL.

It's to earn extra XP from the match. Go read one of the other 10+ threads where we explain it...
