We all know that Blizzards games stick around for quite a while... I mean, people are still playing Warcraft 3 14+ years later (albeit highly modified), and World of Warcraft has now been around just over 10 years.
Think about it, Blizzard has stated they plan to release a new expansion every year like GvG (~120 new cards) and an adventure like Naxx in between (~30 new cards) with rumors of possibly more.
Can you imagine having 2000, or even 3000+ cards to have to build a deck from? Anyone familiar with MTG knows they handle this differently, cycling and banning and such. But Blizzard has the advantage of not having physical cards, they can modify and change with relative ease. In all MTG has over 12,000 (not counting reprints and duplicates), but at any one time only a fraction are 'playable'.
With Hearthstone, every card they make is planned to stay and persist. Sorry, I just had a weird epiphany thinking about all the MTG cards, and what HS will be like 5 or 10 years from now. I'm sure certain cards will always remain good, or they might introduce (unintentionally or not) a small power creep. I just have a hard time wrapping my mind around having that many options, or the absolute insanity of a new player starting fresh trying to farm 2000 cards, lol. I'm sure they will find a way to make it work (like the new WoW level to 90 instant thing).
Whats your view of the (very) long term Hearthstone experience?

3/4 of people in hs of my friend list (45 people) got full collections of Hearstone. out of my 40-50 magic friends i knew 0 that had a full collection...
it is normal you do not need a full collection!!! it is fine a larger card pool for more diversity . one fo the things i kind of miss is the possiblity of some unexpected decks wildly apearing.... i remmber in legacy loosing in the 3th round of a tournament to a SOMMNIPHORE deck!! ( a legacy card worth 5 cents.....) or the landless dredge deck that also apeared!
it would be healthy , and instead of searchin g full collection people would jsut farm to make decks ( much cheaper that mtg ones) ( a legacy competitive one is easily 1000 euros.... a standard one 200...) even legendary warrior does not cost so much ( 4 craft legs and 3 epics) so like 90 euros....
I think I would enjoy an immense card pool. The problem with the current (not for long) small card pool is that you expect so many specific cards to be played. Expecting only certain mechanics or synergies instead would probably be better for the game in the long run.

I think eventually they'll have to increase the amount of deck slots and the amount of cards in the deck itself, once more expansions and adventures start rolling in 9 and 30 won't be nearly enough.
the ammount of cards in the deck is no problem mtg ahd the same for the 14 years..... but yep ahving mroe than 9 slots would be so sweet!!
Hearthstone having so many cards would be... so much better. It would be the card game all card games are compared to, but never able to compete with. Like what happened with WoW and MMORPG.
Anyways - it sounds like it would be fun having so many choices, and like others have said; since it's all digital they can change whatever they need with ease.
As the collection expands... Huge starter packs to get new players in the game faster. A user interface revamp for a larger collection management (i.e. List view).
I would like to see new classes, but not really sure how they would go about it, currently the (semi) original classes only a Death Knight and Monk classes are missing, I wouldn't see HS making any new class types before WoW does. But two whole new classes could be fun =).
And I would totally love to see some new Hero Power changes, maybe like you pick a specific spec... Off the top of my head... Maybe Priest heal becomes a HoT, healing 3 damage, but only 1 per turn. Or Mage changing their hero power into do no damage but freeze a minion for a turn (this one might be a little much), but just trying to prove a point that they could make some kind of spec system to add more variables.
I mean, if they gave all the classes 3 different hero powers to choose from (Your locked into it before the game even starts), that could be pure epic and add so much diversity to the game.
Also in the next 2-3 years, I could see deck size being raised to 40 cards max give or take.

More lower level weekly/monthly tournaments (needs to be more competitive). Also more support for new players e.g. starter sets or making classic packs cheaper.
This is something I would definitely be in to. If they had more weekly tournaments that could be done online easily with some sort of extension.
As for many years down the road, I see them effectively making all the original cards free for new players, but they would still have to grind out the 2-3 newest sets of cards. But just flipping through your collection of 2000+ cards, trying to find one you forgot the name to, lol.
And as GiveMeAegis stated, it could be hard for HS to remain a competitive game, maybe after time falling down to the ranks for something like Candy Crush (just play when your bored), lol. But if there is one thing Blizzard does well, they release plenty of content when things get stale, and aren't afraid to make these drastic changes to help their games last longer.

Probably still down and/or offline for "maintenance".
Hmm?

One day, they will announce that they are retiring Ragnaros and Cairne, and that day would be the end of HS due to overwhelming protests followed by burning down of their headquarter.
I'm really hoping they upgrade the deckbuilding and card sorting interface within the next year. Already, with the new GvG cards, I'm stressing out about being able to find and compare what I need.

One of the advantages of Blizzard being able to retroactively change old cards is that we can have a very large (but balanced) card pool.
In the event that a very large card pool becomes impossible to balance, Blizzard also has the option to have more than 1 format.
I imagine the first split will be "classic" and "standard".
As for me, I would like to have a very large card pool. The Legacy Magic: the Gathering metagame is very diverse.
Bad players whine.
Good players adapt.
I am confident HS will remain prominent and as amazing an online TCG.
...
How else can I justify all the money I spent on this game D:
Vision without action is a dream. Action without vision is a nightmare.
I think I would enjoy an immense card pool. The problem with the current (not for long) small card pool is that you expect so many specific cards to be played. Expecting only certain mechanics or synergies instead would probably be better for the game in the long run.
Zoo Priest and Control Rogue will be the FotM.
Paladin will be a good class.
Hunter players will be respected for their skill.

Hopefully it will have a diverse and vibrant competitive community, and not just a small handful of viable decks at any given time.
Also, I hope each of the (10? 11?) classes can be considered truly competitive.
Feel free to add me if you play on NA! iMPose#1429
In 5 years I'd expect to see...
Tournaments... weekly and monthly.
A new class or two...
Alternate hero powers
More hero slots...
A few new mechanics/keywords
More "Dragons" as a minion type (next large ep?)
As the collection expands... Huge starter packs to get new players in the game faster. A user interface revamp for a larger collection management (i.e. List view).
