Or more? Or nothing!? For some reason I feel in my heart that blizz should introduce the new set with a free pack. Maybe I'm crazy to imagine such a thing as a person who lives in a capitalist country lol.
Hmmm, can seem them having some kind of release event to support the new set. I can't imagine only offering packs and switching arena awards to be the only thing they do when it comes out. You'll probably get a free pack out of it, not that a single packs is particularly significant in the grand scheme of things.
...not that a single packs is particularly significant in the grand scheme of things.
From a business stand point, the "first dose is always for free" -approach is quite significant. Getting a free pack along with the notice that more of these are available in the store & through Arena starting from now could be worth a lot of $$$ as far as the value of a single sentence goes. Kinda makes me reflect back on when Naxx was initially launched and the first wing was for free.
I'm not sure we get one, but I know that one pack does nothing in a long run so they have nothing to loose to give out one for free.
Cinematic trailer GvG after downloading the patch, short introduction via popup window. Some bigger mech appears and want to stop the fun. After you beat the mech or whatever you are rewarded with a free pack and the possibility to buy new ones.
I don't agree. Blizzard already force-feeded a GvG pack to new players just entering the game via the free Arena. That's enough to pique their interest. For older players, the novelty of the expansion will naturally drive them to buy GvG packs. Moreover, the cost of a pack is really, really low (100 gold only -> ~2 day gameplay assuming only daily questing). Blizzard has no need at all to give out packs.
Oh, and everyone who plays Arena (and hence has a chance of getting a good collection - as we know, buying packs isn't the way to earning gold/cards) will have to get GvG packs. That's already somewhat like a 'free pack'.

These two in combination make perfect sense. It's not enough to say "oh arena will pique the interest enough" like uyappy says. I don't think he's much of a business man (though I bet you he'll respond saying he's a koch brother and knows everything about business!) but I've been right about most of my thoughts on what blizzard will do and what these guys said I would bet is exactly what blizzard is thinking.
yeah, till mid of December you can accumulate at least 3k gold by just doing day quests and plus 3 games a day,i only play 4-5 games a day and have accumulated 2k gold in about a month
Personally, I wish they'd do an adventure. I'm sure they won't, but it would've been nice to see an Assault on Gnomeregan, culminating in a final confrontation with Mekgineer Thermaplugg. As I see it, they could make it where you get only the normal Expert Packs until you clear the Dungeon, thus unlocking the new "GG Packs". Along the way, you unlock some of the Random cards, including Thermaplugg. Giving everybody a few of the same freebie cards along the way, but nothing too powerful.
It would also mean that for those with zero interest in getting the GG Packs from Arena, etc they could forego unlocking them through the new adventure mode until they were ready.

Im pretty sure they will go for "more discounts" on multi-packs in shop, so u can get cards "earlier" and pay less money for it, but u will still pay money. Im expectin this.
Mister_Smith, with all due respect it appears you and I are speaking entirely different languages. I understand full well the difference you are trying to point out to me. I also however understand that Gnomeregan (the place where several cards teased already, such as Thermaplugg) come from. In World of Warcraft, it is a short, low level dungeon. I pointed this out to illustrate they could easily do an introductory "adventure" to the expansion. Similar in scope to the Tutorial for the game, ie a meager handful of opponents that give some simple rewards and explain a little of the backstory of the conflict between Gnomes and Goblins. I was not asking for a full Naxramas level adventure, nor did I expect one. Apparently, there was some error in communication. For that, I am sorry.
To more clearly illustrate my point, here is a rough outline of what I'm suggesting:
In reality, you could do without the first two. Still, five bosses is hardly a big deal. And it would as I say, be a nice little introduction. Each would give a card reward, killing all of them would offer a card back and unlock the new packs for purchase and the arena. THAT was what I was proposing. Not a full scale Adventure Mode...
AGAIN: This is what I would like to see, more a "if I was in charge, this is how I'd introduce the new expansion" not a "this is what's going to happen".

Save up 100 gold for the release and you'll get a pack. Since the gold is generally free, that's about the best you can hope for.

Would be awesome to have to fight a boss for it.

They did it for the iPad launch of hearthsone I dont see why not when the android version is around the corner. I think you also got a free arena run

I dunno about free packs but some sort of release event is in order.

I think it would be a good way for Blizzard to drum up interest.
