So I am always hearing people say “It doesn’t matter, the card will rotate out soon”, whenever an overpowered card is brought up in conversation. But this logic was been used since standard has become a thing. The thing is that sure, the card will rotate out, but with the new expansions will come even more broken cards, and then the cycle continues of people saying that the card will rotate out. The result of this is just the game forever having broken unfun cards, and no one bothers because don’t worry! In 6 months, this card will be gone. And then in 6 months we can wait another year for the future broken cards to rotate out!
And the worse thing is that I think blizzard goes by this logic too, which is clearer now that UI and plague aren’t getting nerfed. Now this is no salt thread, as 90% of the time I’m playing this game, I’m playing druid, but I strongly believe that these cards should have been nerfed. But with the logic mentioned, blizzard thinks it will not matter because time will solve their problem. And I also believe that this logic is why standard was created; not to keep the game fresh, but to automatically rid the game of their fuckups every year so that they can make new ones.
We can’t keep using this mindset, we don’t want to have 6 more months of these broken cards. It is an electronic card game, it doesn’t take much effort to nerf cards. Blizzard is just being lazy.
The cards are designed by Blizzard, its part of the game. The goal of the game is to make decks that win. Using broken cards makes you win more. Those that complain about cards and ask for nerfs are in effect saying they cant build a deck that wins against that card.
Looking for the rotation to remove a card is similar logic.
it works... don't get me wrong but money flows... many people are buying packs and stuff for fun and whatever... even in the salt-threads people are talking about buying the new hero, so I see a trend which started years ago ran over the whole f***king game-industry by customers who are willing to pay tons for useless shit and i.g. they are calling people plebs when they don't...

It all depends on your definition of fun. I am a budget player. I dont spend a lot on the game. Maybe a pre order or two during the year, but I play every day. $100 for a year of updated fun is worth it to me. That said perhaps people spending lots on cosmetics is what they consider fun. Just like the people wo craft gold cards. It doesnt make much sense to me, but to each their own. The name calling is just childish, and I dont have much time for that. But then games have always drawn in bad mannered idiots, its been that way for a long long time.
This is an interesting thought, but I don't think I can agree. The rotation may sometimes be used as an excuse to brush-off broken cards, and that much I can agree with. I definitely see your point in this case. However, I don't think that the community nor Blizzard has forgotten the true reasoning for rotations. They're meant to keep Standard fresh, new, and unique.
You can say people will rely on the rotation to fix a few poorly designed cards, sure. But, ultimately, this doesn't take away from the fact that we look foward to the rotation for a fresh META. Not JUST to cycle out busted cards.
As for the NEW future cards, there's something to keep in mind. It's near impossible to print out a set of cards where NONE of them are broken. With only about a few dozen card testers as Blizzard and millions of players, there's bound to be a mind in the community that's bound to make a few cards gain the title of the broken "sleeper card". There's going to be some that slip through the cracks and that's a gurantee. Now, wheather or not they actually get nerfed or not is on Blizzard, that I will give you. But, they have rectified a few (but obviously not all) mistakes over the years. Less broken one drops, less overtly aggressive cards, and nerfing cards into the dirt when neccessary.
This excuse may seem overused, but it's just not realistic to expect a perfect META every change the game makes. Sure, the changes are slow and not often what they should be, but we (or at least myself) haven't forgotten the true reason for those rotations: freshness of Standard.
Thanks for the thought. I really enjoyed this one!
dude, do what you want, srsly... I don't care... I've recognizing this also around my friends... One of them payed much for CS:GO-skins and what not... others are playing constantly wow... others again are playing a new game every week/ month... People who are calling themselves veterans are talking about 2.500$ spent on this game while complaining... I've played Final Fantasy Mobius (kind of card game) and while reading the subreddit same sums where spent... And these spendings are small, if you compare it with EVE... ^^
My point is this, with every thing where you are paying you can complain all day long as long as you pay you agree with every shit..., if you want change stop paying...
Try it with your mobile-contract... Quit it, don't respond to their calls for a few weeks, after that negociate
I've paid 2x welcome bundles and One Night in Karazhan so Iam guilty too...

Dust does not burn a hole in the jar. Be careful what you craft, especially before and right after a rotation.
