I started hearthstone after gadgetzan and i want to know what i should use my gold on. Should i buy adventures, or packs. And which pack should i buy? Classic, gadgetzan old gods and ungoro
Adventures are nice and all but karazan is the only one still in rotation. Since classic packs will always stay in standard, for the most part, i would recommend opening those for a while until you get enough cards from that collection.

Depends on what deck you want to climb with. Few adventures actually yield cards that are absolute staples; for the most part they can be replaced. If you're good at it, Arena can be profitable. However, you'll have difficulty making back your gold for a while. Grinding ladder only yields 100 gold a day, but you can do it easily with a consistent deck. If you don't mind aggressive decks, Pirate Warrior and Midrange Hunter are good choices.
Personally, I would play both ladder and arena. Even if you're bad, arena will improve your technical play as well as your ability to evaluate cards. It is an underrated format that frustrates many, but becoming well-versed in arena should allow you to flourish in constructed just as well.
Don't listen to Atuad, arena is only good when you make around 5 or more wins everytime. If you're kind of a new player, no don't do that. Or maybe try it out a few times and see if it's something for you / if you can win enough to make a good return on investment.
No, you actually only need to average 3 wins to break even in arena. Of course anything more is better and 7 wins allows you to go "infinite" but usually new players can't do that.
If you have a lot of time to play arena is the best way to spend your gold as packs give less overall compared to arena. Karazhan is also good but I would stick to arena unless you plan on playing a deck that requires cards from Karazhan but do plan on getting Karazhan eventually as alot of decks use a card or two from there and they are usually good/important. (i.e. playing a deck that plans on using The Curator as the only draw.)
Karazhan has a few key cards in it, but I wouldn't recommend going into it with a limited collection. Definitely start with the Classic packs until you have most of the set, or at least the classes that you like the most filled out and neutral section filled pretty well. I put together a safe dusting chart if you're wanting to play the game from a competitive standpoint in the future and are looking for dust (which you probably are). If you have any knowledge of the system and want to make value returns on your gold arena is the way to go!
Otherwise I would invest in newer packs and simply craft the relevant cards from older sets.
Currently attempting to get 12 Win Keys with each class. (Complete!)
Paladin, Priest, Hunter, Mage, Druid, Warlock, Shaman, WarriorCurrent arena win average 62.1% 11/1/2017 (5-8 wins per key)
Ungoro packs will be in standard for almost 2 years, and its a solid set with very few pack fillers.
Personally, I would play both ladder and arena. Even if you're bad, arena will improve your technical play as well as your ability to evaluate cards. It is an underrated format that frustrates many, but becoming well-versed in arena should allow you to flourish in constructed just as well.
