To reach legend, a person should have played enough games of Hearthstone to understand the game. To actually be good at it, and play like that. So why have Blizzard made cards since the beginning of hearthstone, that is extremely over powered? Why not try to make the game a little more balanced?
For example, I just met a Totem shaman that had a argent squire on the board, and I had Kings Elekk. The argent squire goes face, before he plays Tuskarr Totemic and gets Flametongue from it. He could have cleared the board, but misplays, and go face. Could I punish him? No because he played a 7/7 for 4 mana the turn after, followed up with a mana tide totem and 0 mana 5/5 taunt a couple of turns after that. After that it was GG. A noobish player can easily reach legend with a card draw like that, but why have Blizzard made it like that? So that everyone can reach legend? No, it shouldn't be like that.
Legend should be a reward for being good in the game, not something everyone can get by flooding the board.
And no, I'm not after Shaman. Other examples are Combo druid, the old Patron, Secret Paladin etc.

Everything that isn't about elephants is irrelephant.
Talking like this, I guess you reached legend many times since you said you can do it easily with overpowered cards?
I guess you did punish him by killing the flame-tongue for free with your elek, it's just he had a good follow up; maybe you need adapt your deck more, like put 2 hunter's mark to kill dr.4 or something? Just adapt your deck.
Otherwise I agree that the game needs constant balance, but the rotation system should hopefully make it that with time expansions are more balanced and each class has a chance to shine equally.
It is like a MOBA game (Dota, LoL, Hots). It is extremly hard to expand the game (adding more cards) and hold the balance level. Sometimes like with secret paladin, Blizzard cant even guess what they did to the game - suprise to both gamers and blizzard themselves. RIOT do the most stupid thing ever - they add hero, watch at its success and after it do some changes. I do prefer Blizzards type of balancing - fast balance of some OP cards and balance through the Expansions and Adventures. There is no OP cards in the game right now. Even 7\7 shaman dude arent played in 100% shaman decks.
The fact that you think it was easy to reach Legend with Patron Warrior kind of proves you have no idea what you are talking about. Furthermore, you punished him by being able to clear the Flametongue Totem for free. The fact that you couldn't deal with his 7/7 is just RNG. Had you drawn Hunter's Mark, Deadly Shot or Freezing Trap, you might have been able to win that game.
Lastly, just because you weren't able to win a game against a Shaman doesn't mean the game isn't balanced. There isn't a single card in Standard that is "extremely overpowered."
If that were the case, I'm sure there's shouldn't be a reason why there are fewer than 10k people that hit legend every season.
What you described was the perfect opening for Totem Shamans, which to be fair is against MR Hunters to bounce back from (seeing that you played Elekk).
Getting to Legend is not just about skill - it's about time spent as well. From Ranks 5 to 1, no winstreaks means that you have to get >50% WR in order to progress, and the amount of skill you have reduces the amount of time spent to get there.
Try the ascent before attempting to talk about the ascent - From Ranks 5 to 1, the meta is quite anti-Shaman and the smart players would tech against them.
those who want to improve, should focus on getting better at game, learn how to play propertly, play most of the classes, watch streamers, and not just play fotm "brainless" decks to get legend
when you get better, you will that card back if you card about it, with pretty high winrate
i have never been legend, but for more then a year, i always end up r4-3-2-1. not playing alot, never playing decks like totem/face shamans now, secret paladin before, or anything like it
everyone knows that skill doesn't play a major role in HS, the best players have like what, 60% winrate in tournaments? The best player in a skill game could reach 100%, but that will never be the case in HS. The game winrate is then decided by a deck/RNG 80% of times, and 20% of times by players' skills
How come the top ranked chess player in the world only has a win rating of just over 60%?
Hmm no. The oposite, a skilled deck that a good player could lead to +60% WR, and an unskilled player to -40%
No, I'm not saying the old Patron was easy to get legend with, but all you had to do was basically to draw the cards necessary, play emperor and have a combo fiesta.

My point is, that the amount of players reaching Legend every month is now 10K. Which, in my opinion is far to many. A half a year ago, it was normal to have 2-3K legend players per season. Which is ok. 5 000 is also ok. But 10 000 players reaching legend a season just sums up, that it's not that difficult to reach legend. All you have to do, is to play an over powered class, and viola.. you reach it.
Take Savjz for example. He reaches legend each season with non-meta decks. Yesterday he was winning against facepaladin, hunters, zoo, and shamans with WOTOG-mill rogue. That requires skill. He deserves to reach legend for being good in the game, not for playing OP decks.

You do realize that this is actually a counter argument to your original statement. That you can overcome op decks with skill.
Unless you've reached legend, please refrain yourself for commenting about the difficulty of the climb and the skill needed to achieve it, k? Ty
Yes, I have reached legend 2 times, and always been minimum rank 5 the last half a year. I have 4 golden heroes, and play Hearthstone alot. I'm not bad at the game. I just think it's unfair that people who are bad at the game can easily reach legend with OP decks.

Yes. I gladly admit that Savjz is better at Hearthstone than I am.

Don't forget the player base is also increasing, HS has reached around 5 million registered players not long ago if I'm not mistaken, so you will always expect more people reaching legend end of each season, but thats not an issue.
It is very disappointing that Blizzard didn't filter out cards like Mysterious Challenger and recently all the OP Shaman cards, they are clearly overpowered and ended up devalueing Legend ranks.

And yet mysterious challenger is still in standard and will be so for a while.

How come MR Shaman is easier to play than MR Hunter? Since when? Since you start losing against them?
Any flavour of Shaman is harder to play than any hunter, just for overload management and positioning alone.

We haven't had a shaman-whine-thread in about two minutes.
If you can't beat a player that plays badly, maybe you're bad as well. :/
You answered your own question.
Blizz wants everyone to have a shot at legend, the easier (Auto Pilot decks) and crazier (RNG) it is = the better.
