I absolutely adore this game, I really do, I just can't stand to see the rise of formats so early on. As a newcomer to MTG, I appreciate not having to spend half a million dollars to be good at the game. However, there's one thing Blizzard forgot. Why should tournaments be officially run in Standard only? Wild mode has a lot of potential, and I think Blizzard is missing out on it in the eSports scene. I know they don't want to divide their community, but what they're doing is going to make that happen anyway as people will naturally prefer one to the other, so why stop Wild players from competing at a high level too? I'll give this new thing a shot, especially if this new expansion really blows me away, but I'm skeptical. All I want is another circuit for those of us who are going to stick to playing Wild, that's all

I mean, unless you're gonna be competing with the top 100 players in the world, it shouldn't matter to you. As a spectator, there will definitely be other tournaments popping up, some of which will be in the Wild format, like Challengestone was in its own format, or the recent tournament that had no Classic Cards.
Blizzard has no interest in balancing wild mode and will focus on balancing the new Standard format. Tournaments would be really dull games with perpetuating decks of broken cards doomed to never be balanced when enough cards eventually do come out. Perhaps Challenge stone might use the Wild format but I welcome the new standard change.
However as good as it is to introduce formats, it does solidify the age old statement, the most powerful card in hearthstone is your credit card. New players are forced to pay out the ass to even play Wild mode and why would they even want to play there? It's a mode where the games are stupid quick, the cards have no semblance of balance and will only deteriorate over the years as less competitive players play it, the less accessible it is to newer players and too many over powered cards align up into good decks.
Sorry to hear it's bumming you out, I'm glad Nax and GvG are gone but i'll be heart broken when TGT is removed.
I believe too, that there should be, or a multi-format world championship, or a Wild format one parallel to the Standard one.
I'm guessing that it will be, but I am really surprised (and I guess I shouldn't be) so many complaints about this. Wild mode will still be there, so all the cards are still playable and now we have a new way to play. Radically new METAs are long overdue.
There will be countless venues that have unofficial tournaments to play in WILD mode I am sure.
I'm actually looking forward to the standard mode in tournaments and as a game mode, then we won't have to watch/play against the same decks over and over. Hopefully it will give variety.
Imagine the World Championship Series 5 years onwards where players would still play Ramp Druids with Dr. Boom, Piloted Shredders and Shades of Naxxramas all over the place. Yeah, no, thank you. Well, the final place would probably be awarded to the Tempo Mage who portaled himself a second Antonidas anyways.
It does matter to me, and that's the issue. Getting Legend and competing with those top players is fun, it just sucks to see that my favorite mode and cards are just going to be brushed by the wayside like they are in Magic
Wild mode won't add to the Esports scene because it will be the same thing. Nothing will change. People will just use 5 new cards from the next expansion and will never use the other cards in the expansion. Also Blizzard run tournaments are the only tournaments so far that will be in Standard mode. The other tournaments will have to decide which mode to use.
Remember when Ben said they were working on a way...
to make the game more accessible to new players? I'll bet you never in your wildest dreams imagined their means of doing so was to flush a third of your collection down the toilet. Look, I understand what they're trying to do, but it sure feels like I'm being punished for having spent so much money and time on packs and adventures. So what's the incentive to buy packs, adventures and expansions if I know up front that in 2 years they'll be worthless? Maybe I'm missing out on something but I sure feel like I'm getting leaned over a barrel with my pants down around my ankles. And I don't like this feeling one bit. Can someone shed some actual positive comments on this that will make this feeling go away?? I just feel that this could have been done in a better way.

Think about it this way: New players will never ever be more than 4/5 expansions behind even the walletest of players. No matter how much someone tries to pay their win to the top, an F2Per with enough dedication can keep up as long as the difference in cards isn't huge, and 4 expansions is basically that threshold. Also, it increases the value of Classic packs immensely becuase they'll be the only pack that's going to be eternal for Standard, and since they're already the easiest to earn (the watch a friend Quest and Tavern Brawl), new players are getting a leg up on catching up.

You play Wild where you play with all the cards that you have. It is okay you can play regular Hearthstone with all the cards that you have in Wild while Standard is for new people who want to play but doesn't have to spend a lot of time and money just to get to the point of where everybody else is.
The changes in themself are fine to me and makes sense. Only thing I think is bad is that they won't give a full dust refund on the cards being excluded from standard. In this way it would at least give both players who grinded or spent a lot of money a head start being able to craft what they want. I've spent over 12000 dust on crafting goldens that I know won't be playing much, if at all. And I ahould settle for getting 3000 dust for them? that's where this whole thing smells really bad, I guess I'll just give them €6-700 more then...
They say it partly is to help new players. Sorry, but what a load of crap. They will remove 120 cards and add 120 new ones -- in what way exactly is this helping anyone but their wallets to grow bigger? If not, then just give me back a full dust refund and I can spend it on cards I will actually play.
Bingo!! I personally think they created "wild mode" just to keep from having a major revolt on their hands. It's great for the new players, shitty for the ones who have been here from the get go, and have put some money and time into this. I feel like i'm being punished for having invested and played for a long time. Feels kinda like the way cable company's do their older customers. Hike their rates but give new people all the good deals. Loyalty plays no part in being treated fairly.
I see what you're saying, but that still doesn't answer my question.
I'm talking about how it makes the game better for new players. The incentive to buy packs and stuff isn't that packs are more valuable, it's simply that more new players that stay in the game = more players buying packs.

They will be checking wild, because they won't let decks where 6 Piloted Shredder kind-of minions coexist.
