A few days ago i looked at some custom cards on hearthcards, until suddenly i saw some people experimenting with custom gem colours. I found them really cool looking and wanted to come up with an idea to utilize them so after thinking about for a bit i think i had a great idea for a new type of card in the game which would certainly spice things up: Treasure Cards!
These cards would come out in any future expansion, would not be dustable, are severly understatted and/ or hurt your chance to win by a certain margin, depending on the payout. What Payout? From Gold to Arcane Dust to all kinds of cards, these cards vary in what and how much they give, but you only get the reward if you win the game. There is one exception to that, but that is the general rule. Also, you would not be able to use these cards against bots (Solo adventures and matches), friends and in casual.
Treasure cards could not be got by any Discover or random card generation effect. They would not even be summoned by ressurection like effects. The only way to use them is to put them in your deck and play them (Unless it's stated otherwise). Also, after you played them in a game, they get removed from your collection (If you only drew the card it doesn't count, only if you payed mana for the card you can win cards with it, or not, and lose it afterwards. Again, if stated otherwise, that's obviously not the case).
The Rarity goes, from worst to best: Worthless(gray), cheap(lime), expensive(green) and unique(red).
They would be more rare than their counterparts (gray and white, blue and lime etc.) but not much more. You wouldn't get a worthless card in every pack like a rare though, so technically, even though they would replace commons in card packs, you would still get more rares than worthlesses, but this is just an idea, so i don't want to take this any further.
I made 6 cards from each rarity, 3 giving gold or dust and 3 giving cards as rewards each.
So here are they, tell me what you think about this and if you have any additional ideas (One extra idea would be to make these cards tradeable with one another between players, since you can't really use them as regular cards anyway, but whatever).
oh ho ho ho... I can't wait to sit in rank 25 wild and bully the heck out of people... running a combo that will let me play like a hundred copies of The Golden Knight a turn... 7500 gold in one game isn't bad.
Yeah, but even if you got ridiculous amounts of gold, that would just be your luck, right? If Blizzard would tweak the appereances of these cards just right, your opponent still would get a bigger chance to win than usual since you would play a worse deck than regular. It would be very generous from blizzard, but these cards surely would keep me buying packs.
Interesting concept and probably would work on low ranks. A lot of times when I am playing to get quests as quickly as possible (20 secrets, so many [class] cards/minions) I tend to stuff a deck full of that type and try to play as many as possible, not aiming for a win. Still more often than not I can win and especially on the winning turn it is handy to play some cards to further complete the quest. I see the same for this type of cards, especially the cheap ones or the battlecries. Run a view and play them when you have lethal or can work around the downsides and have some extra's after your win. Nice concept!
How would these cards make the game free to play? If you read what i said in the beginning, they get deleted from your collection after you played them in a game, so you couldn't reliably farm with them. Also, remember that you get these in place of normal cards, so Blind Oracle for example would actually be worse than a normal Common card. Also, about the low rank farms, blizzard kinda adressed that with their new brackets, you really would have to not play for multiple months if you are a legend or above rank 10 player, which is something noone would do for gold or cards, way less good than just doing your daily quests.
Lastly, i gave The Golden Knight Untargetable so he could not be bounced by rogues. You'd have to bounce him with Youthful Brewmaster/ Gadgetzan Ferryman and Shadowstep them which may be bad enough if you do it to much that you will lose the game and not get any gold at all. But even if you would farm like above 800 gold with him it would be a one time thing and could not really be abused enough to make the game free to play.
Treasure Cards!

Wished to be pink.
Then did.
Then fired myself.
Then did again.

Everyone would farm rank 25-20 with these.
Since there is no downside of these cards, like : "If you lose, remove 50 gold from your account"
Not to mention the abusive factor of cards like Golden Knight. Play it 10 times with Rogue against a rank 25 beginner opponent.
These cards would make the game almost 100% free to play. Sad thing, Blizard loves money.
