Damnit page 7! Why do you have to have that stupid OP Ysera card! Why do people vote for clearly broken cards! Eh, I got my win last week. I shouldn't be salty. My card is probably too bland anyway.
wait im confused. your card has more upvotes than the ysera xD
It did not when I posted that comment, I promise, I wouldn't be salty about winning....
I think you shouldn't mistake simplistic design with blandness. I think your core idea - while being very simple - is quite interesting. And with no offense to the respective creator, that ysera card looks way blander to me than your card would
Thanks. Yeah, maybe I jumped the gun, because not only has my post pulled ahead, it looks like someone even removed their vote from it. I still may not garner enough votes to make the final though, there aren't many entries on the page.
Tell me about jumping the gun - after the first few hours my entry looked promising too :D But right now you're sitting at a solid 3,5 - as long as i didn't screw up the math. There are not a lot of entries this week that went crazy on the upvotes, so as of now you probably have one of the highest scores :D
I just went and found your card. Its interesting. The effect is definitely dynamic in a good way, but I don't know if it feels that "Paladin" to me. That said, I never played a ton of it in WoW haha. I know my buddy always complained that the healing meters didn't track shielding from his spells so maybe its more fitting than I think, just I guess iconically we think about Divine Shield and its immunity more than the classic damage absorbing shields Priest uses. That is some sweet ass art though. I really wish there was a better one I could have found for Rivendare, but its like that damn Naxx art dominates everything, and the only other ones I found that were labelled as him could have been any random Death Knight. Not that my art is terrible, the character is identifiable, but I didn't feel like it really popped.

Same way I feel! XD I think my Trueheart just ended up too simple bland and not captivating enough.
On the other hand, the other card on my page beating me by a ton is Zardoz's, so that's not something I mind losing to.
Yeah, your card is fun/cool, but you made it too accessible. Its slower than some quests, but still faster than others. The value isn't as high, because its Neutral, but it kind of seems like the sort of thing anyone could run, and you don't even have to try to do it early, you can wait on the value if you want. That said, it has a ton, like mountains of flavor all through it, and I'm a sucker that. I actually think that Zardos has one of those cards that isn't really even very good. However, people love a good weapon removal, and its certainly fits that bill while also calling back to an existing card in a fun way. When you look at it though, getting value out of the weapon removal and then getting value out of the spell damage seems very hard. The card is just flat bad against 4 classes, and then against Hunter, Shaman and Paladin, you have ot have it when they have 1 of the 2 copies of a weapon in their deck equipped. Its very much like Lathy's card on the next page. It has a ton of upvotes, but it is mostly because people would love to have a card that screwed up those stupid quest decks. But really that's not even necessarily the majority of the meta, and some of those classes just don't care about that anyway. But it hits that impulse point for people, and they kind of go blind to the actual value of the card.

Damnit page 5! Why do you have to have that stupid OP Anub'Arak card! Why do people vote for perfectly balanced cards! Eh, I didn't get my win last week (or ever). I shouldn't be salty. My card is probably too bland anyway.
...It's also "Under Review" and probably going to be disqualified anyway.
I just thought that Pyros's name was determined from being a Phoenix of Fire. Since the prefix "Pyro" refers to fire. I thought that this particular phoenix somehow had an alternate personality or went through some mystical metamorphosis or was put through experiments or just decided to like ice instead of fire and became an Ice Phoenix, causing it to be known as Cyros. (The prefix Cyro refers to Ice). Technically, I don't believe that Phoenixes can talk and say their own name, although I'm sure they recognize human speech, and Un'Goro is pretty mysterious. Also, Pyros is an original character in Hearthstone. So, I guess the adventurers made the name for the Phoenix as they wandered across her (and pyros due to her fire). Also, I thought I was allowed to make whatever backstory/alternate timeline I wanted (but apparently a slight name change is equivalent to a parody...)

Right??? I looked at the Anub'Arak card and I was seriously thinking if the community knew how to balance or not >_>
That card would be so cancerous, and all it does is fill the board for you faster and faster each time its revived jeez >_>

Well, i'd say Paladin's at least one of the 2-3 classes that this kind of effect would mostly fit. My main focus however was to capture that "All-for-one"- maybe even phalanx-style of battle as i figured, that would nicely represent the character. I'd even argue that the "on your opponent's turn"-restriction isn't just reasonable for balancing but also for the overall flavor - After all, your minions can defend together, taking less damage overall but when attacking, Hearthstone's mechanics force them to fight "on their own", unable to profit from the strength of the group.
And i agree, that artwork is amazing! It's just so full of motion and energy and i think that is exactly what the Rivendare-artwork is lacking. There's not much happening in it and therefore it doesn't really catch the eye.
