This is the first change that I actually disagree with. Just because it might be hard to kill a buzzard that's played on turn 2 doesn't mean it's OP. I don't think anyone is saying Mana tide is OP, yet Mana tide gets a guaranteed draw. Sure a Hunter could double draw turn 3, but that doesn't always happen. Now if Mana tide survives a turn, that's a guaranteed double draw.
After this change Loot Hoarder will likely be the superior card to play turn 2 in most situations--which is just kind of sad, IMO. Hunter has some of the worst card draw in the game and this change really only hurts non-OTK hunter decks. Just doesn't make any sense to me.

Just a thought: Why not just make the text on the buzzard say: "The first beast you play each turn, draws you a Card." maybe even the first two...

Mind Control is a very strong card, and will still be, even at 10 mana cost. Changing the Buzzard just encourages Hunter OTK decks. With only 1 health, you'll want to save it until turn 8/9 when you can follow it with a bunch of cheaps and UtH. If they give us something to buff beasts' health to go with this, I'll stop complaining
Don't be an idiot and blame Blizzard for nerfing "an ok card" in Mind Control, if it's just "ok" you won't feel the impact that much, right? Right. Now using the Buzzard's change as a scapegoat to say Blizzard has no idea what they're doing is just idiotic. Let's move on.
I don't believe that the Buzzard change is gamebreaking or anything, I don't even, NOT disagree with it, I just don't understand it, literally, in my point of view, it will change absolutely nothing, but, that's in my point of view, people don't play Buzzards in the community I play on turn one, like, ever? No one plays Buzzards unless they can follow up with 2/3 cards at all, in which the 1 health change will do absolutely nothing.
However, if Blizzard addressed this issue in this specific way, I'm pretty sure they are trying to accomplish something that not all of us are aware of, and I'm 90% confident they know what they're doing.

This is my problem with it. I don't even have Unleash the Hounds yet. So, my hunter deck is not at all designed to be a OTK deck. Now I will have zero card draw against mages until pretty late game when hopefully I have other high priority targets. RIP Hunter deck.

There are other ways to build Buzzard into a deck that isn't UTH.
I never saw anything wrong with the extra 1 HP either. I'm fine with a nerf to Hunter OTK but nerfing Hunter as an overall class wasn't necessary. If people can't deal with a 2/2 then why not just nerf every card stronger than it? (Sarcasm. Please don't nerf every card...)
So Blizzard has decided to make hunter near unplayable by changing Starving Buzzard to a 2/1. That is just about the only draw engine we have without sacrificing deck synergy, and now, especially vs rogues and mages, it will be absolutely useless!
More hyperbole, please. It is a change that will affect very few UtH decks negatively. You don't play Buzzard on its own. It's simply the first card you play in a long line of Beasts (ending with Unleash the Hounds). The 2/1 nature will not have a negative affect on how many Hunter decks are played.
Unleash the Hounds will likely be changed to only give charge to beasts, which would prevent an OTK in most cases.
I could see Blizzard either increasing the card cost, to perhaps 2 mana. Or adding an RNG effect, such that it only buffs 2 or 3 random beasts with charge and +1 attack.
That's the thing, you aren't supposed to play starving buzzard until you can guarantee yourself some draw and possibly protect it with a taunt or some buffs (houndmaster for instance).
This, exactly. Buzzard is a card meant to be played in combo with other beasts. It's not a card you're supposed to toss on the table on turn 1/2 and expect it to survive a turn.
Actually, it might have just been better to change the card text to read "On this turn only, all beasts laid down after Buzzard will generate a free card draw."
Like with most games, the developers listen to the most vocal whiners and make senseless changes while real issues get ignored. Congrats to everyone who whined about Buzzard & Mind control which were not even problem cards.
That is not the case at all in a game like this. Blizzard has extensive game statistics to analyze. And that analyzing has lead them to the conclusion that current UtH strategies are OP. Hell, I play a UtH deck and I think it's OP. My opponent has absolutely no recourse when I lay down my beasts for the OTK.
IMO, the change is kind of dumb and the card still has potential for abuse because there are so many 1-drop beasts. I say keep the stats, but change the ability to "Battlecry- draw a card for each friendly beast on the battlefield" or perhaps up the mana cost to 3 or 4. I think that's a better trade that dampens the abusive mechanic and maintains the "spirit" of what the card does.
For Unleash the Hounds, the charge effect has to go, but it can keep its mana cost and +1 attack effect.

I really hope they don't take away the charge - it allows for some good plays. I could see dropping the +1 attack buff and maybe increasing the mana cost to 2 (so fewer beasts could be charged). Those two combined would stop OTK Hunter decks from being so good, I think, since it would force them to wait longer into the game to be able to OTK (they'd have to bleed down their enemy via the hero power longer since they have less attack).

If this is supposed to be a nerf for UtH decks, then it will do absolutely nothing to them! Like you said, in a UtH deck you simply play it first in a string on the same turn, then UtH. In that scenario, changing the Buzzards health will make absolutely 0 difference. The decks it will affect are the ones that rely more on bigger minions/spells, like mine. I have 1 UtH in my deck, and 9 times out of 10 I will use it with my Highmane or Core Hound to get a high damage smash on the field, not OTK with 1 drops. I use my Buzzard with Highmane and it's Deathrattle, Snake Trap etc.
TL:DR I don't play OTK hunter, I will suffer, they won't
It's funny, as I'm actually considering dropping the buzzard right now (as a 2/2) from my hunter decks, as it's hard to get good draw value outside of an OTK situation. In my experience, the buzzard-snake trap and buzzard-Highmane combo's only really work on nubs - most people just blow up the buzzard as soon as it's played. I'm considering replacing with an alternate card draw such as novice engineer/loot hoarder.
Hargrim, what's the average # of cards you draw per buzzard played in your big-beast decks? (a buzzard + high mane is a turn 8 play for one draw).
I usually get about 2 cards per Buzzard in rushed games, 3+ in longer games when I can bait removal first (this is when the Buzzard/Highmane/Snake Trap combo's become really effective)
The draw isn't the only use for a Buzzard though, if you are relatively certain your opponent has little/no removal, you can play another combo, with the Buzzard thrown in as bait, because 9 times out of 10 they will target the Buzzard first. I like doing this with Buzzard/Hyena to feed the hyena, or Buzzard/Rhino when I have a Highmane in hand
I wouldn't call them useless, I have a hunter control and agro deck (not OTK!) and both are doing very well in 3* Diamond. The Buzzard change will hurt both of them though
OTK hunter will never win a tourney and most likely never win more than 50% of games. I understand why they need to nerf it as its bullshit and cant be stopped when people get lucky but 2/1 buzzard makes no difference.
Regular hunter is so almost useless as it is...
Keep telling yourself that while I played a OTK hunter today for the daily and went 5/0.
