So I think we can all agree that Arena should be fixed and outside actually drafting with other people - big changes need to happen. At the moment we have 30 rounds of picks, you get X common picks and X rare picks with common picks having a random chance to be another rare/legendary pick and a rare pick having a chance to be a legendary pick.
I think the problem with Arena is that round picks should be more specific by adding the following changes: 1. 10x Rare/Epic Picks 1a. 4x Rare/Epic Picks are between Class cards only and include the Class Legendary as a possible choice. 1b. 6x Rare/Epic Picks are between Standard cards only. 2. 20x Common Picks. 2a. 8x Common Picks are between Class cards only. 2b. 12x Common Picks are between standard cards only. 3. Standard Legendaries have a chance to be all 3 choices in Rare/Epic Standard round. 4. Common Pick rounds have a chance to be upgraded to a Rare/Epic Pick round. 5. Upgraded rounds have a graphic announcement.
Why I do I suggest these changes? Class cards define decks and primarily because Standard cards do not have spells or weapons, them being the "tricks" a deck needs to overcome an opponent - also Class minions are usually more powerful than Standard minions.
Rares are more powerful than Common cards, keeping it 1/3 of the deck means that upgraded commons will have less impact on the decks and having more even games.
Anyways I think its a small change to help lead to bigger changes.
No, big changes don't have to happen. And furthermore, they definitely aren't going to happen. Do you seriously think that they'll start making big changes to Arena mere weeks before open beta starts?
Don't kid yourself that the changes you propose are small. They aren't, because they will grossly affect the balance of arena, and that's not something they are going to change at this stage...

That is not always the case.
And your suggestions will fundamentally change what arena is all about in the first place. I disagree with them.
I think your opening statement is incorrect. I don't think we all agree that arena should be fixed. It's working just fine IMO. It's a mode that involves gambling and an element of luck while at the same time leveling the playing field by removing people's card collections from the equation. That's fun in my book.
I Play arena maybe 2/3 times per week. I totally hate it. People seem to really enjoy it though. Thats the thing about life - people like different things and you have to repsect it. I would NOT change the arena but I would like to see alternatives - a Constructed equivilent would be great IMO. Something else to choose, rather than replace what exists.
These words "gambling" and "luck" have shown up again. As lots of us have previously said, the amount of luck involved is much less than you think. Otherwise the best players would not be able to consitently get 7+ runs. Make the best deck you can, and play as smart as you can - you get better and better and suddenly luck seems insignificant.
This right here :)
I would love more options, but Arena is fine how it is (and this coming from a guy who loses a lot in Arena). I have been getting consistently better and better at playing this game, just by practicing. A lot of my problems in Arena stem from bad draws every turn, which can be frustrating to no end.
In any case, I feel that Arena is fine as a guy who loses at it a lot and uses it mostly to get cards and dust.

Well you're putting up gold in a chance to make more gold. So, it is gambling. The cards you get the pick from are random. So, there is luck involved. In the long run luck will be even and the better skilled players will do better overall. However, it's just like with poker, in any given tournament luck is a big factor. Over enough tournaments skill will dominate luck.
I've done arena a lot since I started playing. It's the ultimate test in strategy and versatility. The fact that you always get a pack of cards regardless if you go 9/0 or 0/3 makes it infinitely more economical than grinding out 100g to pick up a pack. I will say I've come across some frustrating situations considering you can have as many copies of a card in your deck as you want, but for the most part my short lived runs (average 3 wins a run thus far) have always been rather enjoyable.
Any less random in the drafting, and it will probably be even more stale.
I'd like them to reconsider RNG within certain cards (mad bomber, brawl, knife juggler), but as far as card picks during the draft I don't really mind it.
There is also a large issue with the fact that if you set something to X class specific spells then you open yourself for min maxing based on the class you choose because there will be classes that get a distinct advantage as their class specifics are better than others.
I see no issue with random. If you get a bad pool you do what you can with it and roll the next one. Part of the fun is seeing what you get a crack at.
I just had a horrible game against a Pally in Arena. I was running a Shaman deck, I can tell you this though in my draft I didn't pick up a single legendary. Pally had Nat Phagle and Tirion Fordring, that I know of. Not only did he get a class specific legendary, he got an additional neutral...Sure it was 0/4 with a 50% card draw, which I promptly removed, but I mean...Seriously?
Sure Legendary cards aren't "OP" but the fact that I didn't have one in my deck made me feel quite inadequate. Granted the deck I built wasn't anything amazing...But I mean it got the job done before I ran into that pally. I'm cool with the randomness of Arena it means I might end up facing decks that are much weaker because they didn't get a certain card, but it also means my deck may be weaker because I didn't get a certain spell....Or that is how I feel, tbh I've seen Trump do 9/0 runs without having any "key" class based card but to run into a deck sporting 2 legendary cards, one being class specific...Just felt like the game was over (which 2 turns later it was).
Happens, I once was able to pick 2 Illidans, was quite funny. My best results so far were rather balanced decks, with lots of tools. I once had a deck with Ysera, but the overall picks I could get, hardly ever made it possible to play her, without loosing on the next turn. If I remember right it went 2-3 or so.

Nozdormu wins you every game where you opponent has to go to the bathroom on turn 9.

Arena doesn't need to be "fixed".
Beta is beta. Better than changing it when its a released product.

Yes, beta is beta - it's not ALPHA!
That is not always the case.

There are also epic cards in there

I prefer to keep it the way it is. It feels fair to me. Sure sometimes I get crap cards, but even with crap cards I generally have a decent run.
Random is random.
