I've started 2 days ago to record the class of my arena opponents. I think it's quite interesting so i'll share it with you.
All the games were played on the EU server. My win% is about 70%. I'll update the statistics every ~20 matches.
#1 6.oct.2014: Almost no one likes to play rogue and only a few play warlock. Priest has become very popular over the last few weeks, same as Paladin and even more popular than mage. In my opinion rogue and warlock can be awesome in arena due to their ability of tempo plays. If u get some voidcaller synergy this is a huge tempo swing. Rogue is probably hard to play in arena so most ppl prefer easier classes ( my guess).
I played all classes except warrior and shaman due to quests. In my opinion warrior is the weakest of the arena classes so i usually don't play warrior. My favorite class is still hunter even after the nerf of buzzard. It's really hard for the opponent to play against hunter's facedmg
That's pretty much exactly my experience as well. Vast majority mage, paladin, and priest. The few times I've tried lock and rogue it has been pretty disastrous though.
People definitely underrate rogue if this is at all representative of most players. I haven't tracked my wins at any point, but Rogue's gotten me 2 out of my 3 12 win runs and generally a lot of solid runs besides. Admittedly I didn't like it at first, when I performed far below some other classes with it, but after learning to play it I've definitely found it to be a quite consistently strong class (while other popular classes like Paladin seem to be failing me recently). The issue is probably that the midrange play that Trump and a lot of guides advocate often isn't quite optimal for Rogue. With all the excellent cheap spells (Backstab, Deadly Poison, Eviscerate, etc) a more aggressive curve can often be better, and card draw needs to be valued much higher.
all this clases are medium ones, like they can get easily 5-7 wins. but are more dificult to grind to 12.
warlock, warrior, rogue and hunter are or 3 wins decks or 10+. most of my 12-0 wins were with these classes (5/7)
if si7, scrubs and eviscerate rogue is monstrous. if 3 + weapons warrior and something like frothing berseker it is crazy. a 70% beasts deck is crazy and a zooish deck (or demon now but did not arrive to try it) is also an easy 10+
