Seems like the critics are missing the point: this brawl lets you play minions that normally you wouldn't get to play until late in the match, if at all, and can produce some fun or unexpected combos. It's also fertile ground for maybe coming up with new combos.
Also really, it's a Tavern Brawl, it's supposed to be fun and silly, even more than Casual Play which is just the testing ground/sandbox for Ranked.
The problem is that it isn't actually "fun" to most people as it seems.
I mostly enjoyed the other tavern brawls, even if I only played it once or twice. To me, most other brawls were "nice diversion, though nothing I'd want to play for a longer time".
This brawl was literally just waiting to draw a big card and then waiting to get to play it cheaply, period. Even though I won my very first game, even that felt like a chore.

Fertile ground for coming up with new combo?
You have as much chance of stumbling upon a new combo with all those random cards and costs as you have stumbling upon a winning lottery ticket while on your way to the convinient store.
Fertile ground my arse. My grandma is more fertile than this fertile ground of yours.
This tavern brawl is probably the best one for farming quest/gold, the games usually end around turn 5-8, it's like you are playing face hunter but more interesting. So far I'm 11-2.
Turn 1 Summoning Portal | enemy drops nothing Turn 2 Mal'Ganis and Nefarian | enemy drops a Murloc 2/3 give other murlocs + 2 hp Turn 3 another Mal'Ganis and Enhance-o Mechano everything but Mal'Ganis (recent drop it got Divine Shield) got Windfury (my enemy gave up at this point)
Very RNG heavy, fun for me but not fun for my enemy
Most infuriating brawl I've ever played. When you lose, you really fucking lose. Horribly unbalanced, to the point of bullshit table-flipping anti-fun. And it's unbalanced because of the sheer inability to actually do anything fucking skillful whatsoever. Opponents seem to drop legendaries and huge fucking minions when I have jack shit. When I do have something awesome to drop, they play Mulch or some bullshit.
Opponent plays a turn 1 Savannah Highmane. I play Crowd Favorite and a 4/3 with battlecry, buffing it to a 5/5 to contest the Highmane. But fuck my life, right, because my opponent has multi-shot to kill my 4/3. Then he drops another fucking Highmane and a trap. Jesus fucking christ...
Brawl was supposed to be a "get away from the competitive nature of ranked mode for a bit and chill" not "smack your head against the desk because you have no fucking control losing over, and over, and over." It's complete utter bullshit. This brawl MIGHT have been salvageable if decks weren't random, they were pre-built, or if Blizz let us build our own decks. But this fucking random factor of random cards AND random cost is a double whammy. It's a kick in the stomach.
Yeah it's only for five days. But that's five days I can't enjoy an aspect of the game I should be able to enjoy. The people seeming to enjoy this are the ones who can post screenshots of fucking godly luck. And people have the balls to spam emotes in the games "Sorry" and "Well played" and "Greetings" after you concede. Fuck you.

Was that me?
Well, nah, I did that a few hours ago. :P
Hey. =)
The worst tavern brawl so far, 0/10. No playing, just pure RNG. It could just say "every turn 50% to lose the game, no cards".
Choose mage, wait for one mana pyroblast, win game, open pack. Effectively a coin flip brawl.
See u next week Blizzard.

fun and frustrating at the same time

Ugh, really? Just lazy.
Next week on Tavern Brawl, pick a class and watch a bot play your game for you!
The goods news guys. Shaman is STILL the worst class in RNGstone.
Would rather play against 1000 Secret Paladins in a row.

Triple Malorne, 2 was played as 1-cost and one was played as 2-cost.

I played as a Rogue and instaconceded... Could have been you if this matches :D
- in progress -
Hm ok then it wasn't me, my opponent didn't leave until the very end. :D
Hey. =)
Random health? LOL, starts with one health, goes second, plays against mage...
Bad luck all day. I envy you guys.
But at least thanks for the free pack Blizzard.

How did the designers possibly think this was going to be fun? So unacceptably bad.
