Infinitely worse than the reverse brawl where spells summon same cost minions. Both players are just throwing dice and seeing whose dice land better, often extending to 5-10mins of nothing happening.
I really like it. You never know what's gonna happen and it's different every single time. Exactly what I want.
Some things I'd improve: Not just getting random minions that probably don't have much synergy. Some Discover option would make it more interesting. Also casting spells is a major gameplay mechanic but playing minions for the random spells makes everything else including spells less relevant. It might not really be possible to perfectly "fix" it but one idea could be that instead of getting the random spell right away you also could get a 0 mana "Blessing of Yogg-Saron" spell to cast a random spell. That would make it so that it feels more like a normal game but it keeps the in my opinion most important aspect in place: To have something that could turn the game around and/or makes crazy things happen. Additionally I would prefer to not have to choose a hero like with a generic hero of all classes and I think a change of hero power to something like (1 Mana) "Add a random 1-cost minion to your hand." would make sense for this brawl.
My opponent filled his board and cleared mine, then got greedy and played 1 more small minion and got Vanish. Oops, everything back to hand. They shame conceded after that. xD
In years past I have mindlessly played a minion and prevented lethal by wiping my board too. It happens to everyone in this brawl.
This is a very definite LOVE/HATE brawl for people. Some people can't stand it and some people will play it all week.
