And as he said, play more and i would also say stick to one deck max 2 - cause you learn the matchups, mulligans and other strategies against your opponents better and faster!
Know when to play what and when to trade or go face! Also think about what your opponent could play next turn!
Control Priest should work pretty decent - at least it did for me and Curveball :)
But it´s also doable with other Lists such as ODD Paladin, Spell or Deathrattle Hunter, EvenWarlock
Thanks.
Got to Rank 4 3 stars, I slowed down a bit after the big stretch to 5. May try to go higher this week-end, but I doubt I'll have much time. Nest month the meta should be failry the same, I may try to push for Legend for the first time.
The Midrange Paladin run by Trump looks like a ton of fun. I just plain dislike Hunter, but the Deathrattle one looks powerful, I just don't want to craft the pieces missing, it's too much for me. Even Warlock gets terrible matchup and runs out of gaz.
Two days ago I started pushing from 10 to 5 once again.
First, I played Odd Quest Warrior, just for warming-up: 2-4. I really think Warriors suck, because of passive stance or awkward situations. Two of my matches vs. Cube Warlocks ended leaving him with 1HP which remained a mystery for me to solve while he healed up with Guldan immediately after, the same guy, both times. Even those two wins were in a Sisyphean manner. :-/ Managed to win Exodia Paladin, lol, a 16% matchup.
Therefore, I wanted a faster climbing... by playing Odd Paladin (ft. Cauldron).:) Heck, I get 7-1 streak; and 2 Warrior heads as trophies along the way. Aggro has a fair chance vs. Warrior and that's why he sucks, because as polarizing as the deck is, he still can have a hard time beating those he needs to beat. Other polarizing decks kill their victims consistently. I count numerous wins vs. control Warrior with aggro decks like Odd Paladin, Odd Rouge, Zoolock and even Aggro Overload Shaman, because it's not hard to play around removals, refill and after pressuring his armor, simply burst him with a finisher. Warriors are for legend ranks, I guess.
Okay, where I stopped? Aha, 7-1 streak... entering rank 8. And today - disaster: I lost 11 games, 10 in a row!!! :D (image:1) I wasn't playing bad but simply started queuing into Warlocks and Warriors. I fought really well and each match was hell of a fight. But decks I encountered counter mine. It's insane that I queued into so many bad matchups. Game, why are you doing me this?!? :D ...I even won yet another game vs. Warrior, for my only win of the losing phase. In the middle of the crisis a change of a deck was required - Cube Hunter - this deck brought me rank 5 during last months, but now kinda sucks. A Control Priest took my cube with grizzlies - that was particularly funny. Then some Midrange Hunter took my head before I even looked up.
I didn't go mad or salty; panic plays or misplays were not causes of defeats. Sure, bad plays here and there, but things just went 300% against me. Look (image: 3) what I got from Cauldron.
Then I recalled someone was talking about Mecha'thun on this thread, Warlock Mecha'thun. I was playing that deck during Boomsday, but it was a tier 3 meme deck back then. The new one from the new meta looks quite good with all the lifesteal synergies which are far more consistent (non skull, corpsetaker version); still it's hard to believe for me Mecha'thun is a viable deck. When everything else went wrong, I decided to risk and give it a chance. The result is incredible (images: 1 and 4). I went 10-4. The deck seems very comfortable. Though, three hours were spent to come back to the position were I ended yesterday. It's not the deck is slow, but I couldn't make a single streak, even, as you see- I was doing well with the deck. So unlucky... Of those 4 loses, I needed to win at least 3 of them. One clear loss was. vs. Clone Priest. But one vs. a Midrange Hunter was heartbreaking. The last turn before execution I have 17hp and a taunt, but the guy played some spells from Rhok'delar, Kill Commands to my face and some crazy zombie which deals 1 dmg to both players... and I was on 4HP + incoming fatigue, damn. Still, I played that lifesteal 2-1 +1 dmg guy who would allow me to execute combo a turn later (after lifesteal attack and 1 fatigue dmg = minimally needed 5 HP), but the opponent played Candleshot and it was all over. Another loss - I screwed up Defile. Similar misplay before vs. Odd Mage where I was favorite.
Note, after I stopped playing Odd Paladin, during next 14 games, I encountered just one Warlock!!! Zoolock. Not a single Warrior. One Odd Paladin. A lot of Hunters which would allegedly be good for my Odd Paladin (although, contrary to statistics I have a hard time against them and their tricks, with Odd Paladin).
What I'm particularly happy is that I wrecked Hunters. A matchup I was very afraid of was vs. Dragon Shaman, yes, Dragon Shaman, because on HSReplay that deck usually runs Mojomaster Zihi. Luckily, he didn't play her; and in no match so far my combo cards were discarded.
While I'm happy with this comeback, some things worry me. Will I screw up again, back to rank 10? How fast I will climb if all this took me so long? Will I succeed before the end of the month? Will I have trouble passing equilibrium of ranks 8 and 7? I feel comfortable with Mecha'thun (looked hard to play and win, ended easier and better than common decks), but I'm afraid of misplays and bad luck. Is Hellfire helpful? Should I use another deck: Clone Priest? Even Warlock?, Odd Rouge? Cube Hunter? Spell Hunter? Zoolock? I need 2 X Acolytes, 1 X Crowd Roaster and Alexstrasza for Control Priest. And 1 X Master's Call for those Midrange and Hybrid Hunters. If I hit the wall, crafts will certainly happen.

Great stuff.
I too worry for next month, I'm switching from Priest to Mechathun (maybe) but I really love the Druid Hakkar build.
Here's the story if someone is interested at all :) :
Because of my numerous obligations in the real life, I couldn't play yesterday and tomorrow day was under a question mark. So I decided to push today until the end. Seven hours of a full-scale drama! :D :D :D I don't know why I suffered so much to reach rank: 5 this month. Probably: stupidity, misplays, a different meta, a grind fatigue, fear and a loss of the confidence.
Matches: 40 (if counted correctly) - from rank: 8 (1 star) to rank :5 (2) stars.
I started okayish... but very quickly lost 5 in a row, again. I didn't lost the spirit and after 4 Odd Paladin matches (2 - 2) (bloodlust from the cauldron ;)) the decision was not to experiment anymore, just focus on Mecha'thun Warlock. The winrate of the deck was so good (2-3 days ago) so I had a full confidence in it (that it will not betray me). Things really got better, with "minor oscillations". "Minor oscillations" = the reason I needed 40 matches is because I f*$k&d up 5 games in the most unimaginative ways! Like: having the full clear with Godfrey and I kill my 1hp minion activator; discarding a mech with Soularium after thinking I got all combo pieces (this was vs. normal Dragon Warrior, the easiest matchup!)... and such. Five games were lost in that manner, usually missing several streak bonuses. The reasons are fatigue and an apparent lack of concentration. Still, after several tough fights and reaching rank: 7, everything became much smother and easier. I encountered terrible decks after entering rank: 6. Don't know why rank: 6 always sucks and ranks: 8 - 7 (equilibrium) are more competitive? In the last match the opponent played that new Rouge battlecry pirate 5-7 and shuffling him several time with lab recruter. He was rank 5 already and conceded, probably letting me through.
Particularly interesting matches? A win vs. Control Priest, a bad matchup, I played so well around that Scream. Mirror was interesting; won the race with the help of Soularium. Then... a win vs. Even Paladin. Hunters were wrecked, except when I screwed up something by myself. Odd Paladin, Odd Rouge as well. I lost all 3 games vs, Odd Mage; 64% winrate on HSReplay for me, but didn't have a chance, today and 3 days ago (for total of 5 loses).
A conclusion: Mecha'thun Warlock is a very, very good deck. 64% winrate; it's important to remember I screwed up 5 games totally by myself and some other more skillful player would do even better. The spread of matchups in the current meta is such that you will often have normal, beatable opponents or complete victims. There was never more than 2 bad matchups in a row, and those are usually 30-35%. The deck is extremely consistent. One always has what he needs (removal, draw, clear, taunt, lifesteal). Only once I was crying for a card. Actually, it was Mecha'thun himself as the last card (I lost to Exodia Mage for a single turn, because of that and because I didn't want to risk 50-50% full hand discard). On HSReplay, Mecha'thun Warlock is tier 4, some say tier 3, but for me it's clearly tier 2, almost tier 1 (on these ranks). Believe me. I encourage you to play it, before players start to run more Mojomasters. Yes, I lost 2 easy games after they played Zihi. Only one game was lost vs. Even Warlock and his demonology project. I was keeping multiple minions in hand, he still got my little mech. The deck is also very entertaining. Constantly damaging yourself is like playing with fire. Adrenaline is real.
Here are some more statistics which show length of matches. Seven to eleven minutes, which is quite fast for a combo deck. I couldn't execute the combo before turn 11. Average 11-13. The last note: some players don't know that anklebiter upgrades spellstones when you aim your face. OP card, seriously, Who would have thought?!
@CurveballQC
Both decks seems good. Yes, we just reached rank 5, and for several days we go all over again!? XP Maybe better earlier then in tearing hurry like myself this season. Rank 5 provides a golden epic and I really want that. If you go to grind again, and you are in trouble, call me anytime. A man and a donkey are smarter than just a man. :)
Have you checked stats on Vicious Syndicate? Their stats are good for targeting matchups you want. Can even target ranks 1-4.
Yes, I checked VS stats, although I was quite lazy to analyze all the numerical data. Down in the text, they say the deck is better than the stats tell. Stats say it's a t4 deck, mainly because players use Voidlord builds. Zalae played that version, I think, and I didn't like it from the beginning. Voidlords are overkill protection, often postpone the card draw... Twisting Nether, as well... Zalae uses power word: shield in his clone priest, which I don't like, too. The thun deck I'm playing has all you need. The inventor of the deck used ooze on the tournament, instead of Doll (or was that Hellfire?). I don't think Ooze is needed (to kill collider, candleshot, skull, odd rouge, dellar for some armor --- really not needed, because you have shards to freeze, and Doll is so important to kill big bois). Hellfire was used during The Boomsday, now it's not needed, because of anklebiters and there are so many removals and lifegains. ...Anyway, tempo storm also signals the deck is bottom tier 2
You can hit rank 5 with any meme deck. I had a 70% wr with malygos otk shaman last month.
Sure... As said above I'm currently out of form. :D
I will tell this, too: You have a better chance to reach rank: 5 with a meme deck than with a top deck which isn't in mercy of a certain meta. Cube Hunter, for example, is so clumsy right now, and cheap fast decks eat him for breakfast. Well, you'll certainly climb, but it'll be a bloody adventure. Streamer Old Guardian lost 4 matches in a row with it (runs tar creepers), without his fault.
Mecha'thun is a discovery for me. I thought it was garbage, but looks so good. Really impressed me. Even on ranks: 10-5, people play top tier decks and play them well.
For faster matchups, try the version of HealZoo with the Corpsetaker package. Not the best deck, but it can be really annoying to your opponent. And not many people play it, so it can cause a surprise or two. Sometimes your opponent concedes at turn 4.
