Yeah, these two aren't hard, just tedious and unfun. I also had Tamsin's 15th (6 heroic bounties), so that sorta dovetailed into Voljin's; 30 is just a big annoying number because that's at minimum 60 rounds of play.
Banehollow is my Felwood farm, which I do with a holy comp anyway, so I did that after I finished with Voljin. Problem was I'm pretty sure the game already sensed my frustration and gave me a run where 4 out of 5 trash were infernals (the ones that spam AoEs) and a couple of times killed adds before I could use Splitting Light. Afterwards, I decided to just use Cookie and have Velen combo off himself with Velen's Blessing in Rd 2, and Splitting Light comboing off itself in Rd 3.
As for Voljin, eh, I think I'm like 100 coins away from maxing him anyway, so if his 15+ tasks are still bugged, I'm not too stressed about it.
yeah, Chi-ji/Cookie/Ony is the obvious choice and what I did. Figuring it out wasn't the problem, it's just that this was a task that takes a minimum 80 turns under optimal conditions, but more realistically 120 turns and just shows an utter disrespect for the players' time.
Took 90 minutes to complete when the next task (deal 450 damage with dragons) took literally two encounters.
"Kill 40 enemies with Clear the Nest" or "summon 40 whelps" or even "Deal 200 damage in one turn 10 times" would've all been similar to this task and acceptable. I truly believe that the devs don't playtest their own tasks when they design these.
What's annoying is that Tasks 15 and 16 of Onyxia also required a long grind of her 3rd ability. I did it with Cookie and Lady Anacondra, using her power to heal up some of the fish so that I could go infinite even if the Swordfish shows up

wow I wish I thought of that, since anacondra gives health too...
also just wanted to say that even tho I have 3000+ cookie coins stacked, I have never upgraded his fish ability, knowing his higher level swordfish would interfere with my future tasks :D
yea but with the right comp. and a few runs, they are doable. but I guess we both know there are worse tasks out there.
also you are close.. once you do 15th task for VolJin, you wont be able to get his next tasks.. :/

sigh.. when all I'm trying to do is Grommash's awful 75 deathblow one..
what absolute jackass thought this would be fun and compelling gameplay?
my advice: chi-ji cookie and onyxia, air elemental heroic.
spawn fish, buld up heal power with chi-ji, hit onyxia, gain +36 ish fire damage next turn and hit all minions.
the boss battle especially is great, you can deal 25&25 or with 1 fish 17-17-17 damage, you can deal 50 damage like 3 times in 1 turn in that battle.
the grind for doing that 40 times really dumb tho and I agree.
