Hey so i have been playing Hearthstone for about 4 months now.
It's incredible. It's fun, engaging, and innovative. But most importantly, it's free.
The game being free is one of the main factors that dragged me into this masterpiece (if not THE main factor).
With the announcement of the Rise of Shadows expansion i blew up in excitement.
Couldn't wait to see what the solo adventure would look like.
Fastforward a couple of weeks,
Yep, Appearently it costs money...
So i was wondering if future expansions would also have solo adventures that cost money.
If so, i'll be overwhelmed with sadness : (
It might not be a problem to you guys but as a teenager living in a third-world country that doesn't support credit cards, it sucks...
Now i know that i can buy it with gold. And that's where my second question lies.
As a person who just started playing four months ago (has crappy and useless cards, only reliant on Whizbang's decks), is it, by number of recieved packs, better to buy the adventure, or to spend all the adventure's gold on packs?
It seems that future solo content for the rest of this year will be paid, unfortunately.
However, there is free solo content from previous years that is free, including Dungeon Run, Witchwood Hunt, and The Frozen Throne.
You can access these through the Battlenet Store in the blizzard launcher under hearthstone. They are free and a lot of fun.
I do not recommend buying the adventure unless you care about the replayability of the content. If you are looking solely for the most cards, just purchase packs with your gold.
The solo content is f2p in the sense that you do not need to pay money, but only ingame gold. It is possible to unlock it without paying.
However, it is not necessary to buy it for competetive reasons. You will most likely get no special cards that are better than the cards you get through packs. The maximum value usually depends on the specific prices and the rewards you get. For the last adventure it wasn't worth buying it with gold if yu do not like PvE content since it was overpriced if you only look at the costs and rewards in pack value (not too much though).
In conclusion, you do not need to buy the adventures since they do not give you comptetive cards (at least not yet).
Okay thanks alot. Sorry but i have another question. I noticed that there were several adventures that existed in the game but are no longer playable (eg League of Exploarers solo adventure). Why were they taken out from the game and will current adventures get taken out aswell when time comes?
Those adventure were different than the ones we have now because they offered card rewards when you beat each boss.
When they rotated out of standard and into Wild they made it so you can't buy them with in game gold but you can still purchase them from the Blizzard store.
But unless you plan on playing wild you don't need them.
But I'm pretty sure the new adventure content will stay forever, since one of those expansions are in wild already.

Packs>Adventure for spending gold for new players.
