ManaGrind is proud to announce that we are collaborating with Major League Gaming (MLG) http://www.majorleaguegaming.com/ to grow and expand the competitive Hearthstone community. We have been working very hard the past few months trying to establish a competitive scene and are taking the next steps to bring this dream to fruition.
This weekend kicks off our very first official MLG Single Elimination tournaments. Come and compete with some of the best players Hearthstone has to offer! Anyone with beta access is encouraged to sign up and join in on the fun. Do not be discouraged by the big names that will most likely be joining, this is your chance to grow as a player and expand your skill set. It is an important milestone in all Hearthstone players careers. There are prizes to be won in the form of MLG credits which can be used to join buy in seats for paid prize pool tournaments in the future.
I have a question: I'm brazilian and here we use the NA server to play (we don't have our own server). Can I play in this tournament, or is this just for the U.S residents?
Considering that so many states are not eligible, I'm sure it's going to affect the amount of attendees. Given that its more states than just Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, and Quebec.
I fail to see how CA is restricted, my entire card career was in CA.. I went to countless tournaments including regionals in San Fran. Paid countless entry fee's but I cant participate in a FREE tournament? eh bummer..
The Managrind weekly tournaments are one of the main reasons why hearthstone is so competitive and fun for me.. It brought a whole new atmosphere. Bummer I wont be able to participate anymore.

I am currently talking to MLG regarding this issue for CA as you are right , most tournaments do happen there. I'll keep you posted!
Considering the main issue resides around the restricted states/countries depending on the case please sit tight as we try and figure out the problem. thank you for your patience.
It looks like our restriction templates are being funky. Looking into the issue now. All of the restricted countries and states you are posting about will be fixed this afternoon.
It also appears that the EU rules are not the same as the NA rules. Our admins will update that this afternoon.
Keep posting any other issues you come across here. All of these issues should be fixed within the next few hours.
I can confirm it's working good for the restricted country issue. (atleast for FR)
Although, i was unable to register with my already created team for the ladder season (same name, couldn't be accepted) so i had to create another team's name. Is it intended ?
Great!
Regarding the name it is intended, at least for now, but MLG is working on making the system more user friendly for the future!
Gotta say, I'm a little bit sad by the new format.
Best of 3 will take forever
Best of 3 with deck changing / card changing in-between each game will take even longer
Maybe it's just me, but I liked the concept of seeing which 1 (single - unchanged) deck rose to the top each week. This new format is just going to be a game of guess work - guess right all the way and you win.
Play game 1 and win - then you have to guess what kind of deck your opponent will be using, and make the changes you think will counter it.
Play game 1 and loose - you can pick a new hero / deck that you think will beat the changes your opponent is going to make to his deck that he may or may not make based off what he thinks you will do..
Obviously, this new format will take allot more skill / knowledge of the game - that is a good thing IMO - but I still feel like it will boil down to who guesses right the most time that decides the winner.
Maybe I'm wrong.Would love to hear the thought process that went into deciding on this format - maybe I'll come around!
EDIT** I should add - I'm super excited about the move to MLG, after re-reading my above it comes off as pure complaining - I should first thank you guys for all your hard work - and I'm really looking forward to it regardless of what I think about the format!

Thank you for sharing you thoughts,
Currently most tournaments that have specific rules contain a lot of cheating and rely to much on the honor system, but seeing that there were no prizes, we could allow that. Moving on to a more professional platform where you win credits for bigger prize pool tournaments and so on, cannot leave room for cheating and because the registry on MLG is currently limited it would be close to impossible to manage and police this tournament when applying specific rules. The less rules we need to police the more fair it would be for most people as it would reduce the amount of "cheating".
MLG is currently taking steps forward in making those tournaments more user friendly and convenient for everyone as well as possibly updating a registry that would allow people to input their deck lists etc...which will then allow us to make better and more professional formats. As for now we need to limit the amount for cheating to make it as fair as possible and therefore decided to go with a very open rulings list.
Both MLG and ManaGrind are very aware of what the people want and need some time to make it IDEAL!

I have a question: I'm brazilian and here we use the NA server to play (we don't have our own server). Can I play in this tournament, or is this just for the U.S residents?
Do we really have to put our whole life story in our profiles just so we can enter a tournament?
So apparently CA, AZ, and VA are all restricted states..? I tried all 3 of my addresses and they were all "restricted" what the hell?
Considering that so many states are not eligible, I'm sure it's going to affect the amount of attendees. Given that its more states than just Arizona, Connecticut, Maryland, and Quebec.
Added everything to my profile, now I still can't register, apparently South Africa is a restricted country
I fail to see how CA is restricted, my entire card career was in CA.. I went to countless tournaments including regionals in San Fran. Paid countless entry fee's but I cant participate in a FREE tournament? eh bummer..

Yep California
I am getting a not in the right country for the US tournament and have no idea why. I am in the US in Georgia which is not a restricted state
As in with any big website it requires a profile with a few required fields.
