I have a question: I'm brazilian and here we use the NA server to play (we don't have our own server). Can I play in this tournament, or is this just for the U.S residents?
It says strictly US residents in the rule but I´ll talk to Ezmod to make sure.

I see. I really wanted to play on this tournament :/

You should be able to participate now, as we have said, there were issues with the restrictions but they are lifted now. Try an join again it should be fine!
I dont know if someone post it before but few suggestions:
before tourney every player post their deck lists on forum or somewhere also sideboards too(more below)
every player must play his own deck exactly how post it at the star of tourney
every player must have sideboard exactly with 10 cards
cards from sideboard can be change it after first game in BO3 than after second and three too
when start next round every player must have exactly deck post it before and can use after first, second and third game in BO3 again sideboard cards
its like in MTG I think it is very good system and check it by milions of player, tourneys and years...
Unfortunately, this is too much to control with the current registry format and ensure none is cheating as it is an ONLINE tournament. As explained in this thread, we are working on making a registry that would allow deck lists/heroes to be entered to allow better tournament formats.
Just so some are aware; UK (and maybe others?) that are currently on GMT+1 we will switch back to GMT on the tournament day - so the tournament will be on at 6pm UK time (or 7pm if you forgot to put your clock back earlier on in the day).
Just so everyone knows, most of the issues were fixed. I'd like to extend my thanks to ezmod and MLG for acting fast and providing the Hearthstone community with competitive ways to play hearthstone.
My thoughts on the game rules:
Best of 3: I like it a lot, it takes longer yeah, but it eliminates a lot of the luck based first wins due to a bad hand. Requires a lot more skill to win a best of 3. ALSO its the standard for card games.
Switching decks/cards in between matches: I actually do NOT like this mechanic at all, Side boards are a different monster to address but I personally think switching decks/cards during a set for hearthstone is not a good idea. It eliminates some cheating, yeah but in the 9 tournaments Managrind has hosted how many people cheated? probably none.
I think the best way to solve the issue is to find a way like all tournaments do that prior to the tournament starting you have to submit your deck list. maybe make a general email like hearthdecklist@gmail.com in the subject line you put decklist/entry name. Tournaments don't actually check your decks until top 8 anyways UNLESS there is a dispute. just my 2 cents.
Also, most people would notice if someones deck drastically changed, unless the game was finished like before turn 5. The only thing that could possibly slip through are very minor changes, like adding Harrison Jones in vs a weapon based deck,
First of all thank you for the support it is greatly appreciated!
Also, though I do agree that switching decks/cards during every match is not the best format, MLG tournaments will most likely be on a bigger scale than the ex-ManaGrind tournaments as well as include prizes that can lead up to real $ prizes. What it means is that we need to eliminate ANY type of cheating and the only way to do that is to have a rigorous policing approach that would guarantee fairness between all players in the relevant event.
Unfortunately, though your idea of only having the top 8 present their decks could work, it would not entirely eliminate cheating in the previous rounds and therefore would make rules obsolete and insignificant. MLG is working very hard to make a much more enjoyable, user friendly and competitive format with ManaGrind by updating their brackets/registry/formats in the near future!
You are never going to completely eliminate cheating until blizzard puts tournament support within the game itself, some form of being able to lock a deck in the game. I do miss the old format, more simple and allowed a singular deck to rise to the top. But, congratulations on the new collaboration! It is great for ManaGrind. MLG is lucky to have such a dedicated partner.
Though I can agree that it is not the most user friendly way, making sure you read the directions clearly illustrated can definitely ease the whole process.
The real problem about the tournament is that you treated is as if it were some Dota/Lol/Sc2 tournament and made it a playoff straight-up from the beginning, cards games aren't to be treated like this - card game tournaments are organized and played out through swiss format, making it fair for everyone and guaranteeing the more skilled players have a good chance at playing themselves into the top8/top16 cutoff even if they have 1 round of extremely bad luck. Win or gtfo is not really cool, that's all I'm saying as an avid card game player.
I am not sure that you are aware but ManaGrind has been doing tournaments under the swiss format before beta was even launched when all the hardcore guys were playing on a simulator called cockatrice. As I have explained in this very thread, swiss brackets are currently unavailable in the MLG platform and hence we need to adjust to what we have. I recommend reading my past posts on this thread to understand what is going on and why things are as they are and also our plans for the future.

Hey Ez,
Thanks for the info - I had not considered how susceptible the old format was to cheating (changing decks cards with out anyone knowing).
With that in mind, the new format does make sense, as there really isn't any way to cheat - you can use anything you want.
Thanks again and see you at the tourney.
I heal people to death

Hey guys I have a question about the start time of the tournament. It seems to have two conflicting start times or I'm just misreading what it says.
One thing says: Tournament Bracket Play Starts: Sat 26 Oct 2013, 2:00 PM CST
Another says: Tournament Schedule: Saturday 4:00 PM EST
Which of these is when we actually start playing? Thanks a lot and I'm very excited to play in this. ;)
Brackets are up but no battletag in names, how are we to find our opponent?
Well my opponent changed his into it so we could play but I cannot change mine unless I have 25 credits correct?
Tho I see ppl have played without anyone having the tag in their name, how?
Yeah got around to the pming, Still terribly setup but it's the 1st one so can only get better^^
People played fine vs each other simply because they followed the proper way of setting up a team : http://gamebattles.majorleaguegaming.com/forums/t/Tournament-Guide-8742580 and not through pming.
Though I can agree that it is not the most user friendly way, making sure you read the directions clearly illustrated can definitely ease the whole process.

Well, I didn't have any problem contacting my opponent, everything went fine. Too bad I lost my first game with 2-1, but it was a nice experience :/
Looking foward for the next tournament :D
Again thanks for running these guys. Tournament was great, almost got to play Trump! Look forward to playing in future events!
