I've been thinking about trying out a F2P account on the NA server (partly to see what a fresh account feels like these days and partly because I am intrigued to see if there's much difference in the difficulty cap between EU and NA.
In any case, for those who have done this sort of thing before, any pearls of wisdom to be aware of when starting the new account? What cards do you get these days? I assume most of the classic set, etc. Any of the recent expansions?
- get all promo packs + gold from achievements + promos from sets (if available) - classic will always be the top priority because the base of most decks come from classic cards - Focus on 2 classes at the most, and disenchant everything else - Disenchant all golden cards (unless it's a really good one)
Only bit I'm not sure on here - disenchant everything? Golds I understand (for the value), but I would have thought DEing everything just for 1 or 2 decks is a bad idea?
Don't forget that 10th pack of different expansion will legendary. So after you get yourself some normal cards you might save for that 10th pack. "Free" 400 dust.
That's a really good point - I'd forgotten the pity-timer. Will have to make a note of how many packs I open of each expansion
Since you will be starting with a new account, focusing on 2 classes is a priority over collection, unless it's a really good card you wanna save for the future.
For example, if you wanna have highlander priest, you'll need at least 3 legendaries (velen, anduin and raza + lyra if you want). That's 4800 (6400 with lyra) dust from 4 different sets. And it will be hard to get with a new account without disenchanting everything else.
You can consider buying one old gods pack for chtun & co (he's at least a somewhat better deck filler when you have no cards and most likely can be dusted after rotation).
As for the classic packs priority, aggro/midrange huntard probably will be your main deck for some weeks, and it doesn't need many classic cards apart from hyena/highmane.
Finally, if you're good in arena, it can be your main source of cards/place to do quests.

Good points - thank you!

I think a more realistic target would be to find a good low-cost deck with minimal legendaries to start with. Maybe the Paladin Aggro perhaps?
Also, if I don't have the other classes available, I will likely suffer on quests etc?
