I want to know what the likelihood of the major Druid decks going the way of the Quest Rogue decks in the Un'goro meta, because that fear is the only thing stopping me from crafting Fandral Staghelm and playing Druid for myself.
To clarify: As I understand it, Quest Rogue decks quickly made it to the top of the ladder, but the community got so sick of them that they all switched to aggro decks and kicked Quest Rogue off the ladder. The deck didn't see play at top ranks because the mere threat of it coming back skewed the meta toward decks that could deal with it. Please correct me if I'm wrong about this assessment.
P.S. What I hope will happen is that players will figure out decks that can deal with Druid decks, but not so well as to make them unviable. I'd love to play Druid, but I also like to see variety in this game, where as many different decks as possible have a good chance to win.
That assessment is not correct. Quest Rogue beat aggro with Glacial Shard. They only fell off ladder when the quest got nerfed.
Anyway Faendral will be used in every druid deck forever so it's a very safe craft, as long as you like Wild. Eventually it will rotate out of standard.
Fandral is an amazing card (especially golden) and fits pretty much every druid type. That said ever since Un'Goro dropped Jade druids have started expansions on top but they always fall off as the expansion progresses due to people making decks to counter it. Last expansion they gained a little back purely because of Control Mage and Control Paladin along with the nerf to Quest rogue. Aggro still beats the crap out of it. This expansion we got Skulking Geist which is basically a hard counter to Jade Druid's infinite cheap minions and cheap armor gain (and naturalize if they run that). Once people start teching it druids are gonna start shifting their deck strategy.
I would advice against crafting Fandral this early into the expansion dude, he was cut in many Jade Druid versions, but if you want to play other Druid decks and you really really like the class then by all means go ahead, take into consideration what is fun for you and act by that.

The best jade decks of the last expansion ran Fandral. The only good argument for cutting him is Skulking Geist but even still there's a lot of cards in jade decks that get a bonus from him as does the druid DK. On top of that he's good removal bait.
Theres a big difference between druid and quest rogue, One is a class and the other is a deck, Rogue was still a viable deck on ladder after the nerf to quest rogue it was one card that was nerfed not a entire class, There is no one card in druid that is a issue as a whole that will cause druids as a class to become unviable on ladder, Jade idol sure they could nerf it but that doesnt end druid as a class i've played against a ton of druids lately who arent jade druids, Sure i've played against some who are but still if you enjoy the druid as a class then theres no reason not play druid, Now if you only want to play jade druid thats different, Will jade druid get the same treatment quest rogue got, Who knows its possible i guess.
One thing is for sure there is no one card that is making all the major druid decks viable, You're either jade or you're not and the decks dont really run the same cards and the ones that they do share are not going to be the cards people complain about, So what you have to ask yourself if do you want to play druid or do you want to play a certain deck in druid that may or may not get nerfed, Now if i wanted to play druid i would have no issue crafting Fandral, However if i only wanted to play one deck and was worried about the nerf that might not even happen, Then i might not craft it but since its such a early state of the meta and quest rogue took forever to even get nerfed i might not really care if that deck is nerfed on not since its likely going to be months away if it even does come, We'll be closing in on the next expansion then and i'm pretty sure Fandral will find a use again its just one of those cards.
KFT Jade Druid is currently strong because a lot of people are playing control. If the control meta continues, people will just tech in Skulking Geist. Jade Druid is still solid if they lose their idols, but it won't be able to outvalue Quest Mage, Gunther Mage, DK Priest, DK Guldan or DK Dead Man Warrior decks. Can they still win the matchup? Of course. But in general, these other decks have tremendous value generating cards, full board clears and hard removal. Maybe Druid will be able to adapt, but currently, it doesn't run any value generation except for Lich King, no hard removal cards, and limited board clear options like Swipe.
All of this and I failed to mention that Miracle Rogue will still ruin a Druid's day more often than not.

I believe that Jade Druid could cut out Jade Idol for 2 other cards and win even faster against Control, while making Geist a worthless 6 mana play.
Your 5/5, 6/6, 7/7, 8/8, and 9/9 Jade Golems each require a powerful removal to get rid of, not to mention the other effects that of their applicable cards have.
It's not a matter of lasting to fatigue, it's a matter of midgame dominance.
That would be a good adaptation. But if they cut Jade Idol, that will be harder to achieve. They wouldn't actually reach a 9/9 Jade if they only use the other 4 jade production cards, so they'd have to generate one off of a discover mechanic. I think they might as well keep Jade Idol in and use it for tempo instead. If they know they are in a control matchup, perhaps just use Jade Idol as soon as you get it for the body and never shuffle it.
