This is the deck i used to climb from rank 2 to legend (11 wins-1 loss) and that i'm still using at rank legend (currently 4 wins-1 lost). Even though most people don't like aggro decks, pirate warrior is still one of the most powerful archetypes. In wild you can find different types of pirate warrior but the one i'm most confident with is the classic one. If you want to make the deck stronger (but slower) you can consider to run a couple of piloted shredder, a dr. Boom or a Loatheb but in the current meta I dont think these changes are actually needed.
At the moment i'm rank 14 legend (on EU server)
The declist reached 30 likes so here is the decklist guys, clearly pirate warrior is not hard to play but a beginner could be unsure about what to do in certain situations ^^
MULLIGAN:
With coin: keep all 1 and 2 mana cards but patches, heroic strike and upgrade. If you don't have ship's cannon in your hand and you play against a deck which can deal 1 damage with hero power you can mulligan southsea deckhand.
Without coin: keep all 1 and 2 mana cards but patches, heroic strike and upgrade.
When you play pirate warrior (im talking about wild) your main goal is not to immediatly deal all the possible damage to your opponent since if you do so you will likely be on turn 5 without any resources or pressure on the board. What you have to look for is board pressure: you can keep it in early turns (but the game isn't thought to last long LOL) by trading enemy minions with your weapon or with ship's cannon's effect. Often it's worth not to play a single minion until turn 2 or 3 just to be able to fully take advantage of the "ship's cannon+1 mana pirate" combo. Until you have a strong control on the board i suggest you not to rush face with your minions: in 80% of cases trading is a better idea in turns 1,2 or 3.
REMEMBER:
Don't waste your weapon's durability on your opponent's face unless if you calculated you need it to have lethal or you have enough mana to play another wepon next turn.
The best moment to play frothing berserk is when your board is full (so remember to load it the turn before) because this way your opponent might wait to use an AoE to clear your board and if he can he will surely remove the berserk first (so he'll waste so many resources).
If you have any questions just ask in the comments below and i'll come to reply ^^
At the moment wild pirate warrior has still no rivals strong enough to be considered it's counters so enjoy the ladder!! ^^ (your opponen't won't hehe)
Hope this brief guide can be useful. I just hope there won't be so much flame into the comments, i hate it. I don't see why you should make a fool of someone just because he likes a different playstyle (i know, it's stressful and bla bla bla). Anyway, if you appreciated leave a like and if you didnt leave a dislike (just dont flame lelel) ^^
You came to comment on a Pirate Warrior decklist to say you would never craft Patches. Uh, Ok?
i came here to downvote
makes sense
At least my post is related to the deck posted and to the people interested in this deck. I didn't brag, but just showing that the deck can be used as advertised, with good effect.
You're the one bragging ranks here and that's not relevant for the deck created at all.
If you don't like this type of deck, why are you even bothering to read comments about it? Rant in the forum instead if you have need of any kind of release....
I have no reason to flame you man, you are one of the few who arguments what they want to say without just making a fool of who plays pirate warrior. I know pirate warrior does no need a particularly skilled player, i just posted a decklist to climb efficiently with and i want to make more people aware that while in standard pirate warrior currently sucks, in wild it might still be the most powerful deck. Anyway if i "promote" pirate warrior is just because i like it (i've been maining pirate warrior from before gadgetzan was released since i saw someone playing it in a tournment and i enjoyed it and it's an archetype i still have fun with). Since what i wrote might look like i play only pirate warrior but actually 80% of my games are with other classes
peace out
lol nobody cares about u if u dont play in blizzcon lol
Looked good for climbing quick...seems it is :)
That is lvl 15-10 EU
Naah, many of my friends tried pw but none was able to pass rank 7/10. Furthermore after the new expansion was released pirate warrior lost a lot of its power (in gadgetzan meta it was way too strong, now it's just a good aggro deck)
People can downvote discussion all they want, but if someone plays a Golakka, good luck recovering the tempo. It's a 2 mana Vilespine. I'm not complaining, I'm just saying go out and play Pirate Warrior for a bit and see what happens. Golakka = you lose. So tech a Golakka and learn to love it when a pirate shows up.
I think I'll listen to the guy who got to Legend playing Pirate Warrior on how to play Pirate Warrior. If you get to Legend playing PW, tell us how you did it. Apparently, until then, going face is not always the answer.
Plizzz... make a guide for this deck :)
Because you already have a lot of weapons and on turn 4 you generally prefer to play a minion (to secure the board) over than eqipping a weapon. If you have both death's bite and a 4 mana drop in your hand you will likely play out of curve
Death's bite comes out a turn earlier for combos with Dread Corsair and upgrade effects, not to mention board control. It's better on curve with Cultist, Frothing, and Leeroy. The 2 dmg diff should rarely be the deciding factor and if you get an upgrade off you're already winning. Even the whirlwind opens up serious blowout potential with Frothing and can help against aggro decks. Death's bite is just better at generating tempo on the most important turns of the game. There's a reason Arcanite Reaper was in retirement until Death's Bite rotated out.
I'm not just talking out my ass. I tried running a 1-1 split (with Leeroy) and going to 2 DBs played much better.
so many easy choices for a replacement, chose whatever you see fit. Another Captain, heroic strike are two ideas.
Finley is actually a must in every aggro deck. It's impossible to replace him because his effect is very particular, however if you cannot craft him i suggest you to insert a second heroic strike to have more burst damage or a piloted shredder to make your board control stronger
Two captains are useless man, it's rare to have a good situation with 2 or 3 pirates on the board. It's also a slow card in fact even though people like to play him, sometimes i suggest not to put it in the deck (it depends by the current meta). I used to play pirate warrior a lot before even before gadgetzan and patches release, in that meta for example it made no sense to play the southsea captain, it was better to play a death's bite or a ghoul
Hope i've helped you ^^
P.s. Sorry if my english is so messy :d
Actually Ship's Cannon is GvG too. That is replaced with +1 Southsea Captain and +1 Heroic Strike in standard (usually). Finley can be replaced by a tech card, but more realistically you put an extra Naga Corsair in or add Captain Greenskin for additional SMOrc and hard-to-play kappa.
