Neat little mix worked well enough for me.  Got my pack, knocked out two three win quests. Built this on a free to play account (EU server, I FTP there and Asia, PtW in NA).  Was only one win away from Grim Patron in the adventures (use Arena and Quest gold for those), so grabbed that first.  Already had Barnes.  Cracked Y'Shaarj in my first free pack from WotoG.  I did buy the welcome packs on all three servers (too good a value to pass up), and that's where I got Grommash Hellscream.

If you are not familiar with this Tavern Brawl yet, you discover your deck cards and don't draw them so you can get far more than one of any card.  Its key to how the decks for this Brawl work.  Also, draws of the Acolyte of Pain produce a Peruse card that costs 1 to discover again, instead of the usual automatic draw.  1 mana to discover is a big edge over the standard random draw.

I know that Barnes into Grim Patron (or another Barnes) is a whiff, but Barnes into Acolyte of Pain, Armorsmith, and Grommash Hellscream are all better than just a 1/1.  Even the Grim Patron can at least feed the Armorsmith(s).  Because you can Barnes over and over, he's really good here.  Barnes best friend Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound can bring himself out, of course. Of course, Y'Shaarj, Rage Unbound will get any of the others out full strength, too, which is all good, but that turn 4 (3 w/Coin) 10/10 is so sweet.

It plays more like control than anything else.  Discover multiples of either Armorsmith and/or Barnes early and often, if you can spare the hand slots...  2 to 3 smiths with other minions will buy you tons of armor when you whirlwind. Barnes is your early ramp. An Acolyte of Pain can get you the extra Peruses you need to increase your odds of having just what you need.

I don't own Frothing Berserker yet, which is what led me to try Barnes in that slot.  Seems good.

Enjoy!
