EDIT: I will start to track stats with this deck to prove my succes and figure out good and bad match ups.
So i have made it my mission to recreate the spawn of satan in standard. You might say, face rogue? Well that was never a success was it? Hell yes it was. Carried me to rank 5 on several occasions. Anyway, let's get on with it.
Disclaimer: This does not carry the same amount of burst as the old aggro rogue did. With tinker's and blade flurry gone and nerfed, this is more of a minions game. That's one of the reasons i added sinister strike, to compensate for the lack of burst. It is still quite effective though, especially in a new meta like this where everything goes just a little bit slower and where deathlord, healbot and sludge belcher is gone.
General strategy:
How to tempo: Swarm the board before they can use AOE.
When closing in on the enemies aoe turn, slow down and don't overextend. Preferrably you want to test for AOE on the typical turn and have atleast 2-3 minions ready to put on the board.
Board control! Sounds crazy doesn't it? Well, unfortunately we will have to take care of guys threatening our guys. This means using dagger combined with deadly poison, buccaneer, and si:7 agent to clear the smaller yet troublesome minions. We usually don't care about the bigger guys. FACE!! Pit snake! Use the pit snake on turns like turn 3 leading into his turn 4. He will feel forced to ping your pit snake, and if he can't ping it's a gigantic favorable trade for you. Your enemy looses tremendous tempo having to spend 2 mana to clear your 2/1. Watch out as you climb the rank's though, smart players will bate the pit snake with with worse minions. Now that's pretty good for you still, but i recommend keeping it alive as much as you can against non ping classes.Update! Currently testing Bilefin Tidehunter instead of Pit Snake with huge succes!
Favorable trading! This is obvious for most, but use favorable trading to keep as much damage on the board. Coined Defias Ringleader? That's great, man. Stupid paladin spawns a guy. Kill the guy with your 2/2 defias to save your 2/1 scrub. More damage for face later.
The element of surprise! Try to save sinister strike and eviscerate for the finishing blow, it will go past taunts and when played at one time the enemy probably wont see it coming.
Same with coldlight oracle. This is good for finding lethal, or for pushing for lethal. Use it as a last resort to avoid giving your opponent potential answers to your board. Sometimes you will just have to play it though, with a clean board and an empty hand, go for it.
Dagger ground rules! Early game, go face with dagger if you don't have buccaneer on board or deadly poison in hand. When pushing damage in the mid game, go face with your first charge but keep the last one till you can find use in it. As said earlier you will have to deal with enemy minions and taunts and your dagger is your best permanent solution to that problem.
Patience! This isn't always right, but when the enemy is low and he is a ping class (sometimes even keep it anyway) try not to play your charge minion out if it accomplishes very little. You could try and wait for cold blood. This is more risky in standard version of face rogue as there is no oil and i don't use abusive sergeant in this deck (i'm thinking about it.), therefore there's less buffs to put on the charge minion. I would say you generally play your minion unless you are low on cards and the last cards are burn damage.
Please leave an upvote if this has won you games, thank you.
Comment about any questions or suggestions you might have.
It works for a lot of other players, maybe you are playing it wrong. It's also unfair to judge a deck by playing one game against a mediocre match up.
this deck is pretty strong honestly. the thing you have to realize is perfect curve zoo beats just about any deck in the meta, which is why its considered top 5 decks, and thats being generous to the other decks. zoo, miracle, and midrange shaman are all probably just tied as the best period.
this deck is made to beat decks that take a bit to ramp up.
Rogue in general is pretty bad in the current meta, these decks are mainly just for fun in casual games. If you want to climb I'd recommend Zoolock, Face Shaman and Pirate Warrior since they're all strong in the current meta and have somewhat similar playstyles to this deck.
Thank you for posting this! :)
I enjoy playing this deck a lot!
Great deck I've gone 4-0 with this deck it's great and cheap on dust . Here is a video of the deck in action
Thanks a lot and nice video :) You do have to play more aggressively with this deck though, and since we don't really care about health you should sacrifice small minions and use your dagger to finish them off :P
Went 3-1 on my Rogue daily with this deck at ranks 21-20, losing to one C'Thun Priest with an insane curve and beating another that didn't draw so well. All three wins were on T7. Early days, but it seems pretty effective down here, anyway! Lots of fun to play, too - the combo cards make it a bit more thought-provoking than the old Face Hunter or Aggro Shaman.
Turn 1 Coin -> Bladed Cultist -> Cold Blood was a nice trick to pull - one time I got 24 damage from it as I was able to clear the board every turn, the other time I played it I hit face for 6 and my opponent traded his T2 minion, which isn't too bad for 2 mana (although it does burn three cards). Thanks for the list, hope you update it after some more playtesting!
Haha nice job :) I advice to wait with cold blood though until you can get it on a charge minion or a minion that is ready to attack :)
Btw could you try swapping Bilefin Tidehunter with either loot hoarder or pit snake to see how that works out for you?
Edit: Works great, swapped for pit snake. The more token minions we have the less card draw we need making loot hoarder and oracle just even better as you can collect a hand of damage :)
Still trying it out, not sure on win rate yet, but it's nice to have a rogue deck that doesn't cost an arm and a leg's worth of dust... :)
Try the updated version :)
