Greetings.
Welcome to my quick deck guide of my home-made tempo priest I've been using to climb the ladder recently. This deck is very versatile and can be played either as an aggro deck against heavy control decks, or more of a midrange deck versus aggro decks or midrange decks.
Gameplan
The deck focuses on board control and you won't be playing it as a face hunter deck, meaning that you'll actually trade as much as possible while maintaining a strong board. Cards such as Piloted Shredder, Nerubian Egg and Dragon Egg are great since they're harder for your opponent to clear off. Remember that you don't want to have too many minions on the board at the same time in case your opponent have an answer in form of an AoE clear card such as Flamestrike or Lightbomb.
Playing a tempo priest deck is good since it makes for a surprise for your opponent, who won't be sure what to expect. Another thing that I've found very useful is that capabilities of the priestclass to keep your minions alive with your hero power as well as Power Word: Shield, Velen's Chosen and Holy Nova which makes trading even more efficient.
Matchups and mulligans
Generally you want to keep Dragon Egg, Northshire Cleric and Flame Juggler versus all matchups where you aren’t sure if the other one is playing a heavy control deck. Versus for example a warrior who generally are more control likely to play a control deck I’d consider holding on to Piloted Shredder and Power Word: Shield.
The hardest matchup to face in my opinion is definitely any type of Reno Jackson deck, while most aggro decks such as face hunter or aggro shaman is pretty easy. Fortunately for me I’ve not encountered too many Reno Jackson decks recently and I’ve managed to climb versus all the aggro shamans out there. I still haven’t figured out exactly how to play versus secret paladins, but I’ve got around 60% win rate against them at the moment.
Hit me up with any questions or suggestions and tell me how you’re doing with the deck!
Have you ever tried Raid Leader in this deck? Wondering how it pairs with the eggs, just added one in, we'll see how it goes.
Sweet mother of god.... This is the most intuitive Priest deck I have ever seen. I. LOVE. IT!
Although, I'm finding Gormok to be dead in most places. Never seem to have 4 minions on the board,
Great deck, voted up.
Every time I see a Tempo Priest I go — did someone finally make that work? The answer is always nope so far. :)
Went 5–8 in casual for quest. The interdependency of eggs and buffs makes for very poor consistency.
Lol dude have you even tried the deck out? Works great, climbed 12 to 7 only losing 5 games.
Replacement of Dragon Egg?
cool deck, but i dont see why you put gormok in this deck. no more than four minions most of the time, just a win more card. DID is probably better with all the eggs!
Nice new deck idea! I don't have Gormok the Impaler so i replaced him with a Dark Iron Dwarf. I look forward to trying it out!
This deck is so fun to play
Replaced both Azure Drakefor Enhance-o Mechano and Spawn of Shadows, they won me many games
nice unique deck.. voted up
which ranks did you advance with this deck?
Haven't had this much fun playing hearthstone in a while! Great deck!
A priest deck with Gormok and Mind Blasts??? Ridiculous. Good work.
you mean 12 damage?
nah turn 5 Azure drake, couldnt play mind blasts the same turn, so turn six azure drake to face for 4 and 12 from 2x mindblast therefore 16.B
One substitution you want to make is Flame Juggler into River Crocolisk.
You might lose some value, but you definitely win in terms of mental health.
Sweet deck, thinking of dropping a shredder for Brann, though.
Ah, refreshing!
Thanks
I believe control priest is just better. Does this do better against midrange druid? Control priest beats non combo reno decks. Cool deck though
Interesting deck! Nice to see new things coming :)
