Priest is losing a lot of it's best tools in the upcoming standard format. This is the current list I'm using to start weening myself off of some cards I'm used to playing with. As you can obviously see, I wasn't quite ready to go full standard, but a few common cards are missing.
Zombie Chow: With Museum Curator I'm losing the early battle for the board anyway, so this late game liability was my first personal choice to ditch.
Shrinkmeister: Great for trades and stealing things. Without Chow, it's not too big of loss. Hopefully I don't see too much Ysera.
Light of the Naaru: Better with injured blademaster anyway and the flash heals are better removal and healing options.
Second Lightbomb: Wasn't ready to get rid of both just yet, but it's a start.
Next up: Belcher
So far the deck is killing the meta, but that probably has more to do with the aggressive nature of early season ladder than anything else, but streaking from rank 12 to rank 7 isn't too bad.
Being suffering from the same woes. There's no way this template of control Priest will survive the standart mode. We have half-ass replacements for every loss. But that's what they are: half F-ass replacements, suboptimal in every aspect. I'm not up to date on WoOG new cards, but the classic control priest is about to expire. Hopefully something as good - and fun - will be viable. May you have a healthier mourning than me =)
I can't see anything wrong in what you just said, except the Deathlord/Belcher part. Everyone loses them, ok, but not everyone needs them as the current control priest does. Deathlord will be a tough blow, as dealing with early aggro will be a lot more 'expensive'. But yeah, thinking now, I think I was overvaluing Velen's Chosen a little bit more for what it is worth. The archetype may still work, and probably will still be fun (even funner, depending on what comes up) but I don't think it will remain a T1 deck.
Still mourning, but a little bit less. thanks!
