UNLEASH THE PATRONS

You have probably already seen that combo gimmick deck around with the released of the first part of BRM. So here is my own version including a "how to play guide":

Basics:

This deck is based on a basic Control Warrior deck. Thus you will find some similarities, especially in the early game. In general try to cycle through your deck to get the combo instead of legendaries. This deck requires a bit of math and you will need to play it few times before getting the mechanics.

COMBO:

For any devastating combo in late game you need Warsong Commander and:

Rq: If Warsong Commander is on the board and you play Frothing Berserker it will grant him charge even if you end up with a 15/1 Frothing Berserker after comboing with one damage cards.

Mulligan:

Mulligan as a standard Control Warrior deck which include Fiery War Axe, Armorsmith and Acolyte of Pain as main targets.

Early game:

Getting value of your Acolyte of Pain is as important as in a Control Warrior deck. Just stick to control the board as much as you can and don't be afraid to toss Frothing Berserker early but keep in mind that making your opponent think you play Control Warrior is valuable for you. You can use your Cruel Taskmaster early on your Acolyte of Pain but keep your Whirlwind for the combo.

Mid game:

Use your Shield Block early and if your hand is pretty consistent use Emperor Thaurissan as soon as possible even if he doesn't make favorable trade. You can get pretty sick value out of him if you play this card at the right time. I would also advise to keep your Warsong Commander for the combo but if you can protect her with your Sludge Belcher it's fair enough and it combo... Also don't be afraid to use Madder Bomber early if you are a bit behind. It's better to keep your Battle Rage post combo even if it's tempting to use it, keep that in mind: less than 3 cards = not worth it.

Late game:

It's very important to know when you can "Unleash the Patrons", do your maths and take your time to play your one damage cards in the right order, you have a lot of cards to activate your Grim Patron and even a Sludge Belcher to protect him if you don't draw your Warsong Commander.

Two Execute, two Shield Slam and a Commanding Shout to kill big guys/clean boards. Grommash Hellscream is here to save the day as a backup finisher but with four hard removal in the deck it should be ok.

Alternative cards:

The rule of 4:

You need to keep at least 4 hard removals or 3 hard removals +1 silence. I have a personal preference for Shield Slam and Execute in general but you can easily replace them. I would suggest:

There is no good answer to that choice. You need to see what fit best the deck against the current meta.

Rq: If you remove both Shield Slam you can consider replacing Shield Block by Slam. Personally I would keep minimum 1 x Shield Slam in the deck.

The Bomber paradox:

In the original version (and in the one I'm currently playing) I use:

strongly recommend you to play the original version with Madder Bomber. However if you are in team "bad luck", stick to the Commanding Shout and Battle Rage.

The big guy:

If you don't have Grommash in your collection, it's the best viable replacement.

Comments:

  • I will add details on each card later if this deck has success.
  • If you record video with this deck or have sick screenshots feel free to send it to me I will include it here.
  • I'm trying the Axe Flinger right now I will get back to you soon with an update Axe Flinger is not good in this deck.
