THIS deck is extremely effective for such a low cost, 1020 dust for a mech mage deck that wins, try it out, the mechs are standard. The deck has troubles vs. priest, and that's about it. The reason for the struggle is holy Novas wiping board/stalling into late game burst.
Explanations of play style;
We start with 2XCogmaster for the early game master. He is an extremely effective turn one if you manage to pick him up on draw- you play him turn one, drop a mech next turn and you have complete control with your 3/2 masterpiece. Your ideal start is cog and Annoy-o-Tron or Clockwork Gnome. If you do not start with cog or any low cost mech, you are extremely unlucky, but just wait till turn 3 when you can play whatever other card you have. You save arcane intellect until your hand starts to shrink, usually at around 7 manna. The point of the deck is to apply consistent damage with Tinkertown Technician, Piloted Shredder, and Goblin Blastmage. Use goblin blast mage with discretion to save your main board clearer. If you decide to use him for damage then I reccomend making sure you still have one in your deck. That is where Duplicate shines, I run 1 duplicate for this card alone, but it still comes in handy when trying to keep your hand alive. With this deck do not play conservative with your mechs. If they burn cards like Mortal Coil to kill your clockwork gnome, then fine. Just keep that damage going, and you WILL win.
Side note-
do not add Archmage Antonidas into this exact deck, because there are not enough spells for him. If you decide to run him, simply take out 1x Piloted Shredder, 1x Harvest Golem, and sub in 1x Archmage Antonidas, 1x Unstable Portal
Thoughts on adding clockwork knight in this deck? i feel it has great potential if replaced one of the tinkertown tech?
I've been doing really well with a variation of this deck. I made it to Rank 10 last night which is the highest I've ever gotten in the couple of months I've been playing Hearthstone.
My variations were primarily because of what I did or didn't have. One modification I made due to usability was to remove 1x Duplicate to replace with with 1x Jeeves. I felt like the Duplicate was too situational and playing it just right to get the dup that I wanted was too much trouble. The Jeeves has been more consistent for me, especially against classes that can force me into the late game.
Other changes I made were:
Replaced 1x Micro Machine with 1x Cogmaster: People seemed keen on killing Micro Machines quickly, and I like the rare case where I can get two Cogmasters out on turn one and then a mech for turn two and 6 damage to the face.
Replaced 1x Mechanical Yeti with 1x Dr. Boom: Obviously, this increases the cost of the deck considerably but I had Dr. Boom already so I put him in. I'm not sure if this was the best card to remove in order to add him, but I have enjoyed having Dr. Boom. He can turn the tide when you opponent has done a good job of keeping your mechs off the board.
I'm considering trying to work Blizzard in somewhere because I have lost many games by just one turn. Blizzard could have bought me the time I needed. I also wouldn't mind a second Unstable Portal. Getting a great card from that is so fun.
Since I only had one Goblin Blastmage, I'm using a Echo of Medivh and is working really fine.
Interesting. I would have replaced a Duplicate or Arcane Intellect for Echo of Medivh, because I consider all of those cards related to keeping my hand full.
What happens if I put Pyroblast for the late game to win? In my opinion, its a good option for this deck.
I will try it, thanks.
I did this when I started out with the deck. It won me a lot of games against Handlocks. They would take a lot of hits to the face and then wall up towards the end with Defender of Argus on some Giants. It's always satisfying to hit them in the smug face with a pyroblast to win the game. I ended up replacing the Pyroblast with Dr. Boom. I like having Dr. Boom, but sometimes I do miss Pyroblast. Dr. Boom doesn't give you that final hit to the chin in the same way.
The downside to this substitution is that you sometimes get stymied early on by drawing it and not being able to do anything with it. That's frustrating if it happens a few times in a row.
I'm playing this deck right now and I already get 12 :)
I hit 14 with that exact build in one day from 20, but I hit 10 at its peak. The deck really should have antonidas.
I've made it to Rank 10 so far. I win some and I lose some, and it always seems to come in streaks. I haven't been recording overall win percentage, but I've been slowly climbing.
