Legend proof:

Using this deck to climb to Legend in 2022. Played since 2014 (after Beta release), where I mained HandLock and Freeze Mage throughout Classic, Naxx, GvG and onwards. Never reached legend (best result was back-to-back Rank 4 with HandLock), so this might be a shot at redemption after all these long years.

Tinkmaster Overspark is a tech-choice against both Miracle Rogue and other control decks. Think Ramp Druid, mirror-matchups against Warrior, HandLock with turn 4 Giant/Drake etc.

Deathwing is a card I include for two reasons. Number one is that I like the card aesthetically, number two is that it's a clutch removal which can rescue a do-or-die situation against control. Hell, even against Zoo or Midrange I've seen Deathwing save the day. Sure, Ysera is a big value card, but in such a clutch situation I would pick the former over the latter if it means rolling the dice and snatching a win from the jaws of defeat.

Keep your tech-cards in mind based on what you face on the ladder. You'll be able to cut one of the following cards: Tinkmaster Overspark, Acolyte of Pain, Sen'jin Shieldmasta.

  • The Black Knight and Big Game Hunter are excellent choices when you're bombarded with both Druid and HandLock.
  • Acidic Swamp Ooze is the preferred pick over Harrison Jones when facing a lot of Paladins, Midrange Shamans, Hunters and mirror-matchups. With double Acolyte of Pain, I don't see why you would need even more draw. Plus, the low cost means you'll be able to hero-power/slam/execute/etc. aside from weapon removal.
  • Spellbreaker/Ironbeak Owl for Priest/HandLock
  • Doomsayer is my anti-Aggro/Face/Zoo weapon of choice. Reset the board or stall a turn, let your opponent waste tempo/mana/resources on it and buy yourself time/a clean board.
  • Sen'jin Shieldmasta can be replaced by Twilight Drake. The more control/less aggro you face, the drake increases in value.

Edit 28/05: Just blasted through Bronze and Silver, losing only two games on the way. Swapped out Tinkmaster for Big Game Hunter due to little to no mirror matchups, not a single Miracle rogue in sight and an overwhelming amount of HandLocks.

28/7 Swapped out 2x Sen'jin Shieldmasta for 2x Twilight Drake and 1x Acolyte of Pain for 1x Big Game Hunter

22/8: Reached Legend using this deck for the final two ranks (~5% of total games played this season) of Diamond due to more favourable matchups.
