I’m Dekkster and I just hit top 250 legend with this Mummy Paladin list. A lot of people seemed to be hating on Quest Paladin, but it feels quite strong. I do feel like it can go even higher than 250 legend, but I’m going to be switching to other decks so I can keep making more YouTube content. I’m 30-20 (60%) with the list overall, and a lot of my viewers are saying this deck is crushing it for them! The best part is destroying those dirty control warriors.

General Strategy:

It’s still super early on into the expansion, so things will change drastically, but I’m hopeful that this deck will still be good. In most matchups you will just want to be getting your quest completed ASAP so you can start getting a ton of value. You want to be sure to be using your wraps on your reborn minions and most importantly, your eggs and whelps. Also, do keep in mind that when you wrap something it does copy the magnetics, but also makes the stats 2/2. When you Kangors and bring it back, it loses the 2/2 “debuff”, but will keep the magnetic buffs. For example, if you put a Zilliax on an Egg and then wrap it, you’ll get a 2/2 egg with divine shield & rush. Once this dies, it would be rezzed by Kangor’s as a 3/7 egg with divine shield and rush. It doesn’t come into play often, but it’s important to remember.

I think a thing a lot of people struggle with is the fact that Micro Mummy and Kangors have a bit of anti-synergy. You don’t want to bring back little mummies when you could be bringing back a massive Robosaur or Whelp, right? Well, you just have to play around this. If you’re against a warrior (free win, yay!) you can either simply hold off on dumping out your Micro Mummies until you’ve played your Kangors or you just not even care, and hold off til late game to kangors when you will have like 5 eggs, robosaurs, whelps, and dragons in your pool, and you’ll have great odds of pulling something aside from your Micro Mummy.

I’m pretty sure this list is the same as one of the main ones on HSR aside from being -2 Wargear +2 Khartut Defender. I ended up dropping the Wargears because I felt like they weren’t too impactful, although they feel good when you do pull them off. They usually end up going on something like a Micro Mummy which can be huge, but I personally feel that the Defenders & improved consistency of completing the quest on turn 6 is much better. Coin Defender into another Defender can be game winning against aggro, which I was struggling against initially. Also you can argue that Wargear makes your Kangors better, but I rarely care about pulling a Wargeared minnion off of Kangors. I’m usually just looking for eggs and whelps. One of the worst parts of Defender is just the fact that Undatakah can pull his deathrattle instead of an egg/whelp.

Undatakah is HUGE. I think he is more impactful than Kangors, but I’d never drop either from this list. Undatakah & Wraps on 10 feels game winning. If you’re against aggro, you really dont feel bad if Undatakah pulls the Defender deathrattle. If you’re against a control deck, you just wait until more eggs/whelps are in your pool before playing him in order to increase your odds of not getting the defender deathrattle. If you do see Undatakah in your hand, consider holding off on the defenders unless you absolutely need them.

#If you’re missing Kangors, try adding a consecration or a truesilver. If you’re missing Undatakah, try adding a wargear or a cons/truesilver.

Your goal is to complete reborn ASAP.

So you want to keep the quest everytime. Always keep Crystology and Questing Explorer. Keep Temple Berserker. I also think keeping Candletaker is a great idea since we kinda lack three drops.

If you’re against aggro, you can keep Murmy and even Micro Mummy, but toss them otherwise. Definitely keep micromummy if you also have a gatekeeper. Micro is pretty sticky, and a gatekeeper magnet can be massive.

Against control decks you really want your reborn minions so you can try to complete that quest. Keep Candletaker and even Ancestral Guardian/Bone Wraith, especially if you have coin.

Once again, the meta is very unstable so I’ll just talk about classes as opposed to archetypes.

Warrior (9-0, 100%)

Heavily favored. I love it. I love this matchup! I was honestly getting a little frustrated with all the control warriors on ladder, but once I started playing this deck, I love to see them! 2 brawls, 2 warpaths, and one Plague are all the AOE they are running. Just complete the quest and then pace out your eggs and whelps. Just do one at a time and definitely try to keep gas in your hand. Once you’ve exhausted their resources hit them with a Kangors + Wrap or a Undatakah + Wrap and then you just win.

Hunter (7-2, 78%)

Favored. These are mostly highlander hunters. They don’t put much pressure and once again, we simply outvalue them. Try to navigate their secrets as best you can and most importantly BE PATIENT. You don’t have to proc their secrets. Just throw up an egg/whelp with a gatekeeper on it and keep duping it. No point in hitting the freeze or triggering a pressure plate.

Example (this is -2 defender +2 wargear, cant find the others): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/464297930?t=02h12m59s

Mage (2-5, 29%)

Unfavored. This and Warlock are the worst matchups. In my experience this absolutely comes down to Yogg Box luck. If it goes in their favor and clears the board, you will probably lose. It’s kinda FeelsBadMan that it comes down to this, but yeah. Also, they get a ton of freezes, so it’s hard to hit them in the face. If they manage to freeze your board while building a huge board of their own, it’s probably gonna be bad. I want more experience in this matchup, I honestly feel like we should be favored. Everything looks great til that Yogg.

Paladin (6-0, 100%)

Favored. Mostly tip the scales murloc paladin. These just feel so easy even if they get pris lens on 4 into the tip. Try to build a big taunt and also bone wraiths are super annoying for them to get through. If you manage to do something like an Egg into a Gatekeeper and dupe it, they’re kinda screwed. Defender is HUGE in this matchup, it pretty much eats 4 murlocs. I had one mirror and it kinda seems like whoever completes their quest first and gets to dupe an egg/whelp wins.

Priest (0-3, 0%)

Unfavored. I don’t know what happened here, but I’m only seeing Lightwarden/Ripple priests that just blow me out by turn 3. If they get lightwarden in their opener it kinda feels over. Also, your defenders and ancestrals actually help them out. Lack of removal kills you here. I don’t think you should tech against this matchup as it doesn’t seem common. Just hope that you go first, and that they don’t have Lightwarden in the mulligan. I don’t see how they win this if you manage to get rolling, but yeah, every single time I see 2 lightwardens by turn 3.

Example 2: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/464297930?t=05h16m08s

Rogue (2-2, 50%)

Favored. Quest rogues are pretty easy to beat because they cant deal with our robosaurs and dragons. Sap would totally suck but for some reason I think rogues aren’t running that anymore. Those new aggro party rogues are definitely trouble though. Super strong aggro starts can blow you out of the water.

Example: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/464297930?t=05h20m27s

Shaman (1-1, 50%)

Favored. Battlecry shamans aren’t really an issue and defenders can heal through their damage if they try to kill you with battlecrys. The trouble comes if they get hexes on your eggs/whelps. Just play as normal but consider duping your defenders / ancestrals over whelps / eggs if you need heals.

Example: https://www.twitch.tv/videos/464297930?t=06h13m54s

Warlock (1-6, 14%)

Unfavored. Zoolock tends to murder me. They just always seem to curve out beautifully and you can’t deal with vultures very nicely. These are the matchups where I wish I had a consecration over the defenders. Plot twist locks aren’t an issue, I think that’s the one match I won.

Example (loss): https://www.twitch.tv/videos/464297930?t=04h52m18s

Druid (2-1, 67%)

Favored. I think I only saw quest druid and we simply outvalue them. This feels like an EZ win. Just get your quest completed and dupe your eggs/whelps/reborn minions as usual. I think I only lost to a Maly Druid that OTK’d me.

Can’t find any examples on that one for some reason.

That’s about it. I haven’t really slept much since the expansion came out, let me know if you want me to clarify on anything. I hope you guys like this deck as much as I do. If you want to see more of my decks feel free to follow me on Twitch and Twitter:
