Ahoy mateys, I decided to share this amazing murloc shaman deck I made to reach legend and make a guide about it.
PROOF - Decklist, legend rank and stats
Additional stats - A few wins are missing but it's ok, there's more than enough
VODS - Every single game was streamed, it shows how fast I achieved legend with it. I know it's not the most astounding quality but let's have them out there as additional proof and maybe some of you will enjoy watching the games.
I make guides and share knowledge all the time. I'm not asking for anything in return, if you want to support me, the best way is to follow my stream and twitter:

EDIT 1: Thanks for sharing your success stories! <3 If you really need to replace something, do it for a copy of an Ooze or a Bloodlust.
So what's the deal with murloc shaman? I'll tell you, some of you may know me for all those warrior and priest deck guides. This expansion, with my friend Louis, I found great enjoyment from playing this deck! The most enjoyable part about the deck is that it can easily transfer from its flood the board/empty the hand plan to regain value through Hagathas and murloc card generation.
**Match-ups/Mulligan/Game Plan**
**General mulligan - You will always Keep Murloc Tidecallers and Underbelly Anglers. Knife Jugglers, Nightmare Amalgams, Sludge Slurpers, and Murloc Tidehunters are the correct keep in most cases.**
General gameplan - Be fast, take over the board. Don't be greedy with keeping the mana crystals unspent. The only minion you might want to be greedy with is Toxfin. We can refill our hand easily, so do not worry about value, you're here to get on board and stick there.
*Token Druid* - A very favorable match-up for us. They do go wide on board but we go super fast, much faster than them. They cannot keep up and they lose until turns 5-7 in most scenarios. Follow the general mulligan, definitely keep jugglers, they will carry us easily to victory.
*Bomb Hunter* - We'll stomp them. The most important thing is to trade with everything including their bombs. The game will be decided until turn 5 as we completely take over the board leaving them with nothing to do but concede. Follow the general mulligan plan, feel free to keep Hench Clan Hogsteeds.
*Zuljin deathrattle hunter* - Favorable match-up for us, though they might have the perfect answers every turn. If we can create pressure and contest their stuff midgame, we'll be in a good spot. Follow the general mulligan guide.
*Aggro hunter* - Fight for the board, win it until turn 5. Who gets the board until turn 5, wins. Keep Hench Clan Hogsteeds beside the general mulligan.
*Giant mage* - I haven't lost a single game to them, they will get absolutely demolished. The most important thing is: KILL THE GIANTS. This is the match-up where you want to keep toxfin in your starting hand. And of course, besides that, follow ze general mulligan.
*Paladin* - I'm not sure what paladin decks you're supposed to see, but a few paladins I've met defeated me and they were mech paladins. Good luck, I cannot say much here until I meet more of them.
*Priest* - Well... Priest is back to being close to unplayable, I met one or two and acquired victory. Probably a heavily favorable match-up for us.
*Rogue* - Mostly an even match-up if it's the full aggro myras with no greedy cards. We're favored against any other version of rogue. The games are decided during the early game in most cases so fight hard for the board. Consider adding an ooze instead of the Cult Master to make the match-up more favorable. Go for the general mulligan with Hogsteeds.
*Murloc Shaman* - I will confidently say that this list is superior to any currently existing murloc shaman list, as I've experimented with murloc shaman until perfecting it to this amazing list. So, that's a good confidence booster! The matches might get to Hagatha but will likely be decided until midgame. Follow the general mulligan with Hogsteeds and get the jugglers and Underbelly anglers going if possible early.
*Control Shaman* - Let them think they will win with all the removals, once they've spent all of them, keep refilling and use Hagathas for value as well. Easy win unless they highroll with some wanky big minion list. Go for the murloc shaman mulligan, don't risk it thinking it's a control version and you'll still be preeetty fine.
*Zoo Warlock* - A classic aggro vs aggro experience, who wins the board until turn 5 will most likely win. BUT! Even if you're losing the board, there's a chance you can turn the tide with Hagatha so don't give up. Follow the general mulligan with Hogsteeds.
*Bomb Warrior* - The easiest warrior for us. They won't have enough removal. Their hand will empty. Their bombs will not have enough time to get us. We will refill the board and kill them. Follow the general mulligan plan.
*Control Elysiana Warrior* - Slightly unfavored match-up for us. The deck has tons of removal. Apply pressure until you get to Hagathas and try to get a bloodlust. Keep making the board filled. Longer games with Hagathas are our win condition in most cases. Follow the general mulligan, keep the hero card Hagatha in your starting hand if you're feeling adventurous.
*Mechatun Warrior* - Definitely a better match-up for us than the standard control warrior one. The games will be similar but they have less armor gain. make them use the combo pieces as removal and you might even win in fatigue!
Thanks for reading, feel free to post your opinions and questions. As a player who pretty much never plays aggro, I must say I've had an amazing experience with this deck, as my goal is to make decks that are both fun and very viable! -Urkoth
EDIT 2: Kiwiinbacon and Tommywave made a pretty cool gameplay videos of it at ranks 3/4 so I'm sharing them.
I'm missing Scargill and Swampqueen Hagatha and got dust for just one, which one is more important? and what to replace the other with?
Hit legend with this kind of deck for the second month in a row.
Last month I went really aggro to compete with all the rogues and the high tempo decks. This month the meta is slower and therefore you're no longer in a rush to beat everyone as quick as possible. I readded Swampqueen Hagatha and Hagatha the Witch, as they really help against the control decks.
So my suggestions for this month:
-2x Knife Juggler
-1x Hench-Clan Hogsteed
-1x Nightmare Amalgam
-1x Cult Master
+2x Bloodlust
+1x Coldlight Seer
+1x Bluegill Warrior
+1x Soul of the Murloc
In my opinion, the only class that has decent removal right now is Warrior. For all other classes it is really hard to clear your board once you've got Soul of the Murloc active. So that card is really nice for you to trade and still maintain a board of 5 minions.
Nightmare Amalgam is a decently statted card, but Coldlight Seer is just better in so many cases due to keeping your other murlocs alive. Just play it, even if it just buffs 2 other murlocs. Buff your Murloc Tidecaller and Underbelly Angler if you get the chance to, as your opponents will need to use their ressources to remove those quickly.
Replacing one Hench-Clan Hogsteed for a Bluegill Warrior has proven helpful, as the Murloc will immediately benefit from Murloc Buffs and just gives you that much more pressure. It is also amazing to combo with a Toxfin for immediate threat removal.
I still personally dont like Knife Juggler or Cult Master, as they are great openers, but are not great cards when you lost the board. Especially against Warrior, they straight up do nothing when you draw them later in the game. The two Bloodlust and the additional Soul of the Murloc make for a greedier build that will try to always maintain board pressure.
Happy laddering!
Completely garbage. I've played 10 games so far and haven't even drawn ONE Underbelly Angler. I even had to look if i've rly put int into the deck. Outtempo'd by Tempo rogue with Fan of Knives, can't do shit against rez priest, because i was able to play a minion on turn 3. The only murloc shaman i've encountered had Tidecaller into Tidehunter which i haven't even ONCE.
Sure it is, that's why one of every 3 matches in ranks 5-1 are against this deck...
Substitute for Swamp queen Hagatha?
Ez legend with it after dropping with rogue from 1 back to 4 twice because of rng. Thanks <3
Looks like i wasted alot of dust with crafting this deck, lost 3 ranks since i crafted, seem to be getting countered by pretty much everything. i guess it's outdated now?
Maybe Trandorio's changes to the deck in post #100 will help you.
I went from having 3 stars in rank 4, to 0 stars in rank 5. I'm losing to pretty much anything.
Save your dust, craft something else :)
must be your piloting mate, I've had 100% winrate from zero stars rank 5 to three stars rank 3.
one of the best usernames around
I decided to try this deck starting from Rank 9 and went incredibly quickly from Rank 9 to 3. There I had somewhat of a stall and was unable to climb any higher, so I started to tweak some things. Here's what went down:
The main opponents that I was facing were:
So basically, I steamrolled Hunters and usually druids, but lost quite a bit against Warriors and Rogues. So I tried to improve the deck by removing the weakest cards (imo).
So I removed Swampqueen Hagatha and Hagatha the Witch The reason being that usually when I got to turn 8 and needed to play (either) Hagatha, the game was basically already lost, since I only ever played those when out of better options. and removing their board usually wouldn't help me getting the board back. I replaced both of these with copies of Bloodlust.
I also cut both copies Knife Juggler and one of the Hench-Clan Hogsteed. Knife Juggler work great when you can dominate the board and summon stuff, but they will not bring you back in the game when you have fallen behind. and the Hench-Clan Hogsteed is too slow in my opinion, as it does not get any of the Murloc Buffs. I replaced both copies of Knife Juggler with Bluegill Warrior and exchanged the Hench-Clan Hogsteed with a second copy of Soul of the Murloc.
This results in a much greedier build, that is able to persist on the board due to Soul of the Murloc much more easily, then Bloodlust will usually end the game quite easily. In my experience, I was able to turn many games using Bluegill Warrior when I already had Murloc Warleader for a surprise 4 damage, or even Turn 5 Bloodlust despite having only 3 Minions on the Board to bring the opponent down to below 15 HP to just force him to make more unfavourable trades to stay alive.
How did that change the matchups, you may ask? I went form Rank 3 to Legend earler today. Especially Rank 1 was a breeze with 10-2 to Legend. :)
Very cool post, Trandorio. If the new build does better vs rogues, you're doing the right thing. Glad to hear about your amazing adventures!
sounds like the more aggressive mono murlocs decks. you might wanna consider trying magic carpet if you have it. it can be great with scargil as well, but there are plenty of 1 drop murlocs anyway.
it probably won't improve your winrates as those really fast and agressive murloc decks are pretty good anyway, but it can make for some interesting games.
Ideally though carpet shaman shouldn't be a mono type deck. but it works quite well with a bit of an overload package murloc deck with more of a mid range gameplan.
If rogue is the issue though, I have found taunts normally can help slow them down or outright kill their tempo.
In my shudder murlocs deck I run sunfury protector and belligerent gnome. they work pretty well TBH. Still only has around a 47% winrate against rogue though. I think rogue is generally just a bad match up for murloc shaman.
also rogue is extremely overtuned in this meta, and it steamrolls just about everything but control warrior. so trying to counter them will probably lead to weakening the deck in the areas it's actually good in.
Tried original deck list fought two rogues 1 warrior lost all three then tried Trandorio I did Rank 10- Rank 5 in 3 hours 80% WW only actually lost once to a druid deck who played massive aoe?? wtf.. Then lost a few times to accidental misplays, (thought i had lethal and didn't kill mages giant)
Luckily only fought three rogues, two regular tempo and one bizarre rogue trying to play multiple spirit of sharks with evil miscreants and SI agents lol.
This deck stomps all shamans I love it so much. Love you.
did you try out shudderwok at all? if the deck is tweaked a little bit, shudder can be great as well. you must run 2 copies of hench clan hag though to really make it worth it, that way you can use shudder to refill the board with tokens that get buffed up.
I'm working on a multi type magic carpet shaman right now though which is going to be crazy. I will send you the deck when done.
Shudder is not needed, we've got tons of value. He would be relevant if he did something against rogues but he doesn't.
I'm talking about a different deck TBH mate. This particular version wouldn't even benefit having him really.
I've played quite a lot of Murloc decks this month and they're all great.
Have you played any Carpet Shaman at all yet? You can do some nuts stuff with scargill and murlocs. I got a 1 mana amalgam then started throwing mechs on it. Just a combo, but I love doing stuff that isn't expected.
ah I'd already mentioned the magic carpets. sorry. ha ha.
Thanks for the share! I replaced my old murloc deck with this and I went from 2 star 20 to 1 star 14 with no losses. I was on a win/lose streak and couldn’t break past rank 15 with my old deck. It’s super fast, which is a nice bonus.
