Hello HS Community!
I think this is as close as perfection as you can get for Big Priests in the current Witchwood expansion. The new spell Divine Hymn not only does a GREAT job replacing the old Greater Healing Potion, but it can also now heal your own minions! For 2 mana, if you have a Velen out, he can immediately heal your board for 12 hp, and if you have another velen, that's 24 hp (All for only 2 mana).
This deck is insane. I have been enjoying it thoroughly.
There's no need for Barnes anymore, or for Ysera. Malygos and Velen is all you need, guaranteed.
This deck utilizes Mass Dispel, silence, and the Soulpriest + Circle of Healing to carry you into mid and late game. You'll have all the early game removals that you need. All the other spells are heavy damage dealers, and just in case, you'll have the Divine Hymn for heal.
If versus upgraded aggro hunter, or paladin, always try to keep your Combo Removals, Shadow Vision, spirit lash, holy smite, or SW: Pain; but use it when the timing is right.
Here is a quick video sample, please use proper reference when attempting to mod this deck as your own.

Some notes:
- Don't kill yourself with Soulpriest, any healing becomes damage.
- Because Obsidian and Soulpriest is contradictory, you will need to remove/silence Soulpriest asap.
- No more mill rogues now, so big priest has one less counter.
- Look out for fast rush decks, those can cause you early game problems if you don't dispel, remove, or heal up.
- This deck won't work well against hexing or devolve decks. Mind control decks are no problem, because most times you'll have a revived velen/malygos by turn 8.
- Don't be too hasty with your removals, but wait for the right timing.
- Silence your Soulpriest before using heals.
- Chances are, Big Priests will not become a tier 1 deck with the current expansion.
*******************************
(NEW) Win Conditions:
1x Velen + 1x Malygos & Holy Smite + Mind Blast (34 dmg)
2x Velen + 2x Mind Blasts (40 dmg)
2x Malygos + 2x Mind Blasts (30 dmg)
etc.
...or just hit face damage + your spells.
(NEW) One turn lethals:
If you have Malygos up at 10 mana, Drop Velen and use a HS + MB.
If you have a single Velen or Malygos up, use Vivid Nightmare + 2x MB (Costs 7 mana).
Tip: You can gather MB's when versus slower decks by using Shadow Visions.
(NEW) Alternative deck ideas (untested):
Using 2x Shadowform instead of 2x Soupriest, and replace circle of healing with 2x Holy Fire or Elixer of shadows. If you have this tested, please let us know in the comments!
GG.
Have fun =)
Thank you for this list! I recommend adding Lyra as she can get super out of hand in longer games or help contest the board a tad earlier.
Sounds like a good idea man, thanks for the input! I'm currently testing with Ysera as well.
Second mass dispell out, 2 nd nova, in pure fun when having velen or maly onboard...
One copy of Psychic Scream might do well. I've had games where I don't have anything on board until turn 8, and I'm running out of removal. I know it's counter-synergy with reviving things, but that wouldn't be too hard to work around in matchups where it matters, I think.
Thanks for the input! I've decided to include Vivid Nightmare, and also 2 sets of the Circle of Healing combo removal instead, so turn 4 removals are possible. Spirit lash should also work well versus the current paladin decks.
See the updated version.
Weak deck, funny how the example videos feature footage from casual and not ladder
1) There's nothing wrong with taking a break from the ladder to play some decks that are more fun than competitively viable.
2) Are you seriously writing off a deck as bad on the second day of the expansion? The meta still needs time to settle. Right now the best decks are anyone's guess.
I challenge you to make a Big Priest deck, I'll use one of mine, and we'll see who comes out winning. It'll be recorded of course.
To inconsistent. There are games you just get nothing and get curved in the face.
If it helps, you can definitely add one more minion that synergistically contributes to survival.
