I mean sure, but it still will take quite some time for RNG to play out that way...
Totally agreed :) Still I believe that at some point someone will kill me this way :)
Embrace the Shadow saw play in some OTK decks, and Auchenai Phantasm adds a 3/2 body for the same cost, so it could easily see play.
Embrace is a lot superior though, since it's no minion. This card here is very good tho, but restricted to certain deck types.
That's true, the spell synergies in priest have gotten a lot better lately, but Embrace the Shadow saw play in OTK decks before it rotated out of standard, and before Spell Priest saw serious gains like Radiant Elemental and Shadow Visions. A 2 mana discount on the "heal as damage" effect from Auchenai Soulpriest is still very powerful without those spell synergy cards.
To be clear, I agree that the effect is better on a spell than a minion, but it's better because after Embrace the Shadow rotated out of standard, there was a major investment in spell synergies in Priest (like Shadow Visions, which we've both mentioned). All I'm saying is that because Embrace the Shadow was playable in decks back before those spell synergies were introduced, Auchenai Phantasm is likely playable as well.
Also Embrace was just one spell, and sometimes wouldn't run 2 so the spell synergy wasn't really focused on that card for value. At worse, its a 3/2 for 2 on turn 2, and if you have to board clear, its just like playing Embrace anyways. Also battlecry>spell
