25.2.1 Patch Notes - Battlegrounds, Arena & Duels Updates; Bug Fixes
Blizzard just published Patch Notes 25.2.1 featuring Battlegrounds, Arena & Duels updates, and Bug Fixes. This is a server-side hotfix.
Quote from BlizzardWe’re in the process of rolling out Patch 25.2.1, a server-side hotfix patch with the following updates and bug fixes:
Battlegrounds Updates
- Scabbs Cutterbutter, Tess Greymane, Illidan Stormrage, and Tamsin Roame have been returned to the Hero Pool.
- Murozond has been returned to the Minion Pool.
- Wasteland Assassin and Devourer of Souls have been removed from the Professor Putricide Hero Power pools. Possessive Banshee, Handless Forsaken, and a new minion, Cursed Shadow, are being added to the Hero Power pools.
- Cursed Shadow is a Tier 5, 7/5 Undead with Stealth.
- Dev Comment: Cursed Shadow is only being added to the Professor Putricide Hero Power pool, not the general Minion Pool.
- The following heroes have less armor:
- Galakrond and Infinite Toki have been moved to Armor Tier 1 (0 Armor).
- Drek’Thar, Greybough, and Heistbaron Togwaggle have been moved to Armor Tier 2 (2-5 Armor).
- The following hero has more armor:
- Pyramad has been moved to Armor Tier 2 (2-5 Armor).
Arena Updates
- Malignant Horror can no longer be drafted.
- Warrior and Hunter have had the draft appearance rates of some high performing cards increased.
Duels Updates
- Tome Tampering and Shockspitter have been banned from both deck building and card buckets.
- Cold Feet Pact passive treasure has been moved from Pool 2 to Pool 2 Ultra Rare.
Bug Fixes and Game Improvements
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where the new Omen Demon Hunter Hero Skin’s Hero Power could not be upgraded through effects like Baku the Mooneater.
- [Hearthstone] Fixed a bug where Sunfury Clergy unintentionally gained Rush.
- [Battlegrounds] Fixed a bug where Discover effects could sometimes Discover non-Battlegrounds cards.
- [Battlegrounds] Fixed a bug where Sinrunner Blanchy could gain infinite Reborn under certain circumstances.
- [Battlegrounds] Fixed a bug where Putricide's Creation could be tripled under certain circumstances. The triples were failed experiments that lost some of their combined powers; it’s better these Creations remain unable to be tripled.
- [Battlegrounds] Fixed a bug where a Corpse Refiner made golden by Greta Gold-Gun would not sell for the right amount of Gold.
- [Battlegrounds] Fixed a bug where a minion that received Reborn from Baltharak (one of the tokens generated by Mecha-Jaraxxus) would lose Reborn if tripled.
- [Duels] Fixed a bug where the Hematology Hero Power always assumed the player had 3 unspent Corpses if the player had any.
- [Duels] Fixed a bug where the Hematology Hero Power could hit 0-Cost cards in your hand.
- [Solo Content] Fixed a bug where a card adjustment to Forsaken Lieutenant made one of the Book of Mercenaries encounters impossible to complete.
The other problem is if you generate a card that consumes corpses with another class it is absolutely completely useless. What good are all the priest cards that copy or steal against a DK. Chances are you are taking an unplayable card.
They've already said the want to change it so all classes have a hidden corpse counter in the future.
How was the game not rolled out with this when they introduced Death Knight!? Five minutes of playtesting with Rogue or Priest and you'd find out "Hey, I had minions die but this card isn't doing anything"
Yep.
Took this clown long enough to ban shockspitter. Fuck you dev
Golden Gun doesnt give Pufferquil Poisonous, Small Indie Company
Real talk, do they actually test in house? The new BG set has such poor balance, I'm beginning to suspect they don't.
I wonder if there is a connection between shitty BG balance, and Blizzard hiring casters to develop the game, instead of people with game design experience? Thinking...
Again QA team and game testers on vacation I guess. What a sh*t show battlegrounds is right now. Undead class is x5 times more powerful than any other minion class (3 times more broken than when naga class first came around). Hope one day blizzard employs people that actually play the game to test before relese, as if that ever happens - they just relese it and use user analytics to tweak the game (cheap a** company).
Corpse refiner - should be mech/pirate (or even make it 2 5 - avenge(4) only for its class type - mech/pirate counting even if that minion is reborned with death not resetting avenge count))
Soulsplitter - should be 5 or 6 star
Eternal knight - 2 1 ,3 star minion
Sister Deathwhisper - make it 1 5 or remove undead class from it
For you Blizzard - so you can keep charging 17eur for BG pass ... (can't shake of that Activision blood in you it seems) but at least use it to employ actual game tester
Sure it's good to remove Horror, but isn't the problem that DK only has brand new powercrept class cards, while all the other classes have to dig through all the garbage? If they just forced DK to have fewer class cards than everyone else or capped the number of draftable cards from each set, wouldn't that actually address the problem?
They should've changed wording of Malignant Horror to "Summons another Malignant Horror" instead of "a copy of". Cuz usually one would just ignore such a pesky minion. But it could be followed by Bonemare and voila, you died.
It seems Blizzard wants this effect to stay in constructed where nobody actually cares about those horrors.
That wouldn't solve all of the issues with the card. What you propose would make it harder to stop the Malignant Horror cycle, since currently if you get to kill it and put it into a reborn state, all copies summoned are easy to deal with 2-1's. With your change, that'd no longer be the case.
Very happy about the ban on Malignant Horror, it was just crippling in the Arena. A person almost never had the cards necessary to deal with both reborns. I don't know how many games i won and lost just on that card. It was ridiculous.
Where are the other Arena balance changes though? Without Horror, Death Knight would fall around 1%??? They will still be at 58%, which is still broken. The bottom 6 needed a boost. Not just the bottom 2.
Death Knight has no bad cards, due to how hyperpowercrept Hearthstone has become.
Other classes have old sets still in the pool. What did they think would happen!?
Removing horror after 1 month? So fast? It was necessary to collect statistics for another six months, and even better to raise the characteristics to 4-6 for 5 mana - the power of the card was not very obvious, right?
I'm just staring at those Duels bans with tears of happiness in my eyes!!
And that hematology fix also. Even though i exploited the hell out of it. Such easy 12 wins xD
Glad they decided to remove Malignant Horror from arena. It is crazy powerful in that game mode, especially if you buff it.
That thing could single-handedly carry mediocre DK decks to high wins. Stupidly hard to remove even if you were ahead.
Yeah... :(
>Malignant Horror can no longer be drafted
Main change of the patch.
Considering they will add crazy op cards on future, I would ban all cards using corpses or changed this mechanic in arena a little. Problems with cards that consume corpses will happen again and again in future I'm sure.
