25.0.3 Patch Notes - Balance Changes For Constructed & Sire Denathrius Obtainability Change
Blizzard just published Patch Notes 24.6.2 featuring Constructed balance changes as well as Sire Denathrius obtainability change.
Added Change
(This is not the final solve for this interaction, still temporary, just better to leave it this way instead of totally banned for the moment. Hoping to get a more final fix out next week that preserves both cards' functionality, without going infinite.)

Quote from BlizzardPatch 25.0.3 is a data-only patch going live today with updates to two Standard cards.
Card Updates
Dev Comment: We set up this balance window to address any changes we wanted to make immediately after the expansion launched. Shockspitter is exactly that type of card, ending games sooner, more easily, and more consistently than we intended. Sire Denathrius is a card we have had our eyes on for some time, but we wanted to see how he performed in the new expansion first. With a couple days of data, we can see that it is still a very popular and polarizing card, warping early meta development in a way we want to address before the World Championship (December 16-18).
This balance update was reserved for only the most standout cards immediately after expansion unlock. We’ll continue to keep our eye on how the metagame develops and make any further adjustments needed in our next balance window, reserved for a few weeks from now.
Sire Denathrius
- Old: Lifesteal. Battlecry: Deal 5 damage amongst enemies. Endlessly Infuse (1): Deal 1 more.
- New: Lifesteal. Battlecry: Deal 5 damage amongst enemies. Endlessly Infuse (2): Deal 1 more.
Shockspitter
- Old: [Costs 2]
- New: [Costs 3]
The above craftable cards will be eligible for a full dust refund for two weeks following Patch 25.0.3. As a reminder, regular Sire Denathrius was a free card and can’t be crafted or disenchanted.
Other Hearthstone Updates
- Players who did not receive the uncraftable Legendary Sire Denathrius last expansion cycle will now be granted it upon opening their first Murder at Castle Nathria pack (along with Prince Renathal, which is already obtained in that way). It will be removed from the “Long Live the King” Achievement in a future patch to complete this swap over. As this is a grant of an uncraftable Legendary, there is no gameplay impact for any players who unlock him two different ways during that time period.

It only took half a year but they nerfed sire D! Yay!
Good changes
What about SirD in deck like spooky mage? I guess its way to slow and not worth slot in deck?
Way too weak and inconsistent now.
Good changes
Just get Brann out of here!
Get rid of Brann already.
Printing cards like Denathrius that reward something completely counter-intuitive to playing the game well like bad trading? Those are better described as 'mistakes'.
Changing the mana or how conditionally good they can be is just a band aid fix at best.
Huh. Only 5 months and they finally decided to nerf Sire Screwyourhealth...
Great, another silent Priest nerf. I built a deck with the new cards that utilized Sire pretty good and the Deck was performing pretty well (for a Priestdeck). Now that deck in this form is useless while the usual suspects can still abuse him without problems.
Also its so absurd that people shout for DK _buffs_ and whine that he performs so bad, while he basically has it ALL apart from shields, secrets and curses. If the Priest had only ONE aspect of the DK, the pseudo community would cry endless rivers to nerf Priest. But hey, DK having 60 HP and basically has every card he needs in his hands all the time, let it be value minions, buff for minions, healing, weapons, taunts, disruption, removal, card draw, tokens, rush, going face, corpses, permanent Sire feeding, etc. etc. etc. seems to totally fine for some reason.
Imagine the outcry if the Priest had an ultra cheap removal WITH healing and no downside attached. Face damage? SO evil for Priest, they had to completely remove it (wonder that they brought it back - shadow word: undead), with a pretty limiting precondition tho) while DK got weapons, rush and multiple face damage spells in ADDITION to all the other tools.
Sad to see Patron DK dying so soon, it was the only good thing going for the class as a whole and it was an unintentional interaction, feelsbadman. DK needs a big round of buffs, as Daddy D being gutted just puts the whole class further in the dumpster.
they nerfed DH less than 24 hours after the launch of AoO

Yikes. Good try tho, I wish you luck in your next venture of making things up on the internet.
Skull of Gul'dan went from 5 mana to 6 mana 30 minutes after release. it wasn't a specific patch.
who lived, knows!
You couldn't be any more wrong.
The patch adding the Ashes of Outland cards dropped on April 2. The set was released on the 7th that month, 5 days later.
Day 1 DH nerfs were originally handled via a server-side patch on April 8 to get them out as soon as possible (hence why they don't appear in that list). The April 9th patch was there to alter the card data client-side to reflect this change.
DH went just over 30 hours before getting nerfed.
@Artimae Ok so where were u at that time? Cant imagine something more stupid than this. Stop relying on data and experience it yourself
If you played day 1 AoO, you'll probably know Skull of gul'dan, Eye Beam, Imprisoned Antaen and Aldrachi Warblades were nerfed in about 30 hours after launched. I remembered my skull of gul'dan was changed from 5 to 6 mana in the middle of the game. If you dont know what really happened back then, google is free to type some word and search. In case you dont know how to use google, type google.com in browser, then type "demon hunter hearthstone day 1 nerfed", you'll probably find what we are talking about. And I wish you do some more research before typing anything on the internet. Shame
Sire nerf?
It's about dang time!
It's almost like they didn't know Denathrius was a problem because MOST people are playing minions again.
there it is.. a shockspitter nerf quickly
