March of the Lich King
Hearthstone’s Newest Expansion
The Lich King returns to Hearthstone, leading his Undead army and the new Death Knight class in an all-out assault on the elven city of Silvermoon! The Blood Elves won’t go down easily; they are as thirsty for combat as they are for the magic of the Sunwell that they draw power from. As the Corpses pile up, the Death Knights’ army swells, and so begins the March of the Lich King.
March of the Lich King will launch worldwide on December 6, with 145 new cards! You can find the full March of the Lich King reveal schedule, and all cards that have already been revealed, by visiting the card library here. Check back frequently—the page will be updated with new cards as they’re revealed!
New Death Knight Class!
The Death Knight is a new permanent addition to Hearthstone, coming with March of the Lich King. Death Knights command the Undead with their new hero power: Ghoul Charge. For two mana, summon a 1/1 Ghoul with Charge that dies at the end of your turn! That Ghoul does double-duty, because Death Knights gain a Corpse whenever a friendly minion dies. They can then spend those Corpses to power up their cards!
Death Knight is a powerful, flexible class, powered by three Runes: Blood, Frost, and Unholy. The Death Knight’s chosen devotion to those Runes determines which cards the Death Knight can put in their deck. You can learn all the details about this new class effects and special deckbuilding rules in the dedicated Death Knight introduction article.
New Minion Types: Undead and Dual-Type Minions
The Lich King commands the Undead Scourge, and these unholy masses will be Hearthstone’s next new minion type: Undead! In March of the Lich King, Undead minions will appear in Neutral and in the classes that have aligned with the Lich King. Many cards synergize with Undead, triggering bonus effects “if a friendly Undead died after your last turn,” meaning either on your opponent’s last turn, or earlier on your current turn.
In March of the Lich King, some minions will have two minion types! For Undead minions, this might be a second type to represent what they were before they became Undead. These will be retroactive additions, with both Undead and second minion types being added to many older minions as well as those in this expansion.
Returning Keyword: Reborn
Some Undead have Reborn, a returning keyword mechanic that will now be a regular part of the game going forward. The first time a Reborn minion dies, it is resummoned with 1 Health remaining—the perfect keyword for representing pesky Undead minions, and for pumping up your Corpse counter!
New Keyword: Manathirst
The Blood Elves draw more power from the Sunwell the longer they hold off the Scourge advance. Cards with Manathirst get more powerful once you reach a specified amount of mana. You don’t have to spend that mana to power up the cards, you just need access to it.
The Sunwell Login Reward Available Now!

Log in to Hearthstone to start preparing for the March of the Lich King with your complimentary The Sunwell Legendary spell!* The Sunwell is Hearthstone’s first collectible Neutral spell. Though there are those who struggle to control its power, The Sunwell’s wild magic can offer you anything your heart desires. Add it to your collection and see what The Sunwell has in store for you!

New Signature Cards and Signature Golden Packs
Signature is a new cosmetic quality that cards can have (like Golden or Diamond), with stylized full-art images, starting in Patch 25.0. For March of the Lich King, the Signature cards will all feature an icy sepia style, evoking the Lich King’s powers over Frost and the Undead. The art style of Signature cards within each expansion will match their respective expansion’s style and the card frame for future Signature cards might also change from time to time. That means Signature cards from future sets will look different from these ones, to evoke different tones and styles.
Signature cards can’t be crafted or disenchanted; they can only be opened in packs or earned through special means. There are a total of 18 Signature cards coming with the launch of March of the Lich King, including 15 Legendary cards. Two of the Legendary cards will be available on the Tavern Pass, and the three non-Legendary cards will be earnable for free as part of an event with expansion launch. After the launch of March of the Lich King, the other 13 Legendary Signature cards can be opened in Standard Packs, class packs, March of the Lich King Packs, and new March of the Lich King Signature Golden Packs. Signature Golden Packs are like current Golden Packs, but they have a chance to include Signature cards instead of only Golden cards, and they have much better overall odds of opening a Legendary card!*
The March of the Lich King Pre-Purchase Mega Bundle includes 2 random March of the Lich King Signature Legendary cards and 5 March of the Lich King Signature Golden Packs! Signature Golden Packs will also replace Golden Packs in the in-game Shop for all future expansions, starting with March of the Lich King.
* See full odds and disclosures on the disclosure site.

Also, fun fact for all wild players: Expect Neptulon to finally get nerfed now cause KotFL has all the cards in it enable the turn 2 neptulon and rezzing, so once that hits standard, expect it to finally get nerfed.
It's really unfortunate that Blood of G'huun isn't in Standard anymore or it would've actually gotten nerfed. It's just a mere chance now.
Is this the first Pre-Order Hunter skin. Oh my...
Thank goodness it's not a mage one though!!! (And given Arthas's history they could have done that.)
im glad reborn is coming back, but I'm not looking forward to another imbalanced class launch
I see crazy Shudderwock shenanigans with Scourge Rager, can't wait to test it!
What shenanigans? You don't want your shudder to die. It won't have reborn.
But I want
Hey.... I had a lot of legendary frozen throne cards crafted in golden! Lich King, Jaina and Uther for example.
I don't get the dust back? Or wait, they are still there.
Its gonna be a balance mess and you know what? I'm hyped for it
Plenty of free nerf dust coming up
Soo the 2 two random March of the Lich King Signature Legendary cards from the bundle cant be disenchanted... wow thats a bummer :(
This is going to be a mess. They struggle to balance 9 classes already (READ: WARRIOR), so they're essentially adding 3 more with this rune system. I feel like runes will be mostly thrown out the window in a year and most cards will have no rune requirements aside from a few powerful ones. Also, let's not forget how broken DH was on release.
Just some notes:
1)Patchwerk will get nerfed, it's way better disruption than muntanus.
2)Blood appears to have some of the best control tools in the game (see 1)
3) If it's Invincible, why can I see it?
4)As I mentioned in another post, the DK hero cards will barely see play in standard since current hero cards powercreep them (druid and paladin), don't have any support (mage and warlock), or archetype just sucks (READ: WARRIOR). The only ones I see seeing play are Hunter and Shaman since both their archetypes are currently supported and they're both cheap. Also, KotFT cards has been powercrept to hell and back, so I doubt very many old cards will be seeing play.
This is going to be so busted. Ashes of Outland is going to look like Rastakhans Rumble.
Made my day ngl
This will be such a balance desaster again.
I am not hyped at all. :(
So... they forgot to enable drops on twitch... unfortunate
Got muted in reveal stream for asking why Death Knight wasn't 69 cards
Major, major props to the devs for this reveal, shit looks amazing. The whole DK Rune system looks great and I know for a fact it won't be balanced on launch, but hype.
