Immolate is terrible. Paying 4 mana to do nothing on board and incentivize one’s opponent to play cards is unplayable in all but the most extreme matchups. Modern Hearthstone sees decks constantly drawing and generating extra cards anyways. That or you are dead by turn 6. Playing this is basically hitting the concede button.
Yep. When this card burn ur Reno, Cariel, any combo piece. Unplayble...for ur opponent
Reno costs 6 and Lightforged Cariel costs 7. Even if you play this on curve at 4 mana, your opponent has time to play the above cards on curve before they burn. Immolate is even worse the later you play it because your opponent has more mana to play the cards that matter. This card gives your opponent too much agency in how they choose to play around it and doesn’t pressure their board or life total.
You are forgetting something. YOU ARE FORCING YOUR OPPONENT TO PLAY THOSE CARDS. Who said he wanted to play them originally? Now he's forced to play them or he loses them. And if you have to play reno on curve against a warlock, then it's already a lose.
Maybe not a staple card in every Warlocks deck but there's no question it's absolutely nuts against control and combo decks. It has the potential to displace those kind of decks, again.
Personally I really hate the design of this card, as if Quest Priest isn't shit enough already.
This does pressure to opponent hand. Its broke his game plan. You or play cards "now" (Reno at 30 hp for example) or say them goodbye.
Against aggro decks this do nothing ofc. But in Control Warlock vs Quest Priest or Mali Druid.
Immolate is a joke, and a bad one.
It's a bad card in most situations
great control and combo hate card. We cant have a nice thing for more than 2 months it seems. At least its only in one class
Immolate against aggro omegalul
Immolate shouldn't have been printed. It's going to completely change wild since it will kill any combo deck and control deck. Hell, you won't be able to play late game since a lock can drop this on 4 and by turn 7, anything that costs more than that that you originally drew is gone.
If you want to build a disruption warlock that loses to everything except combo, the tools are already there in wild, immolate doesn't change it. Anti-fun warlock decks that focus on disruption have never been top tier. Rat and mutanus are already enough disruption to mess combo up and they're neutral.
Omg you can't otk people on turn 7 because your combo got disrupted :'(
What is a current OTK deck that kills on turn 7?
At first, I was terrified of Immolate. But then I thought about it, remembered that aggro and midrange decks exist, and then I realized this card is really slow and likely pretty bad. Sure, you put your opponent on a timer to get their combo off, but too early runs the risk of hitting nothing of importance, too late and they get their combo off anyway, and if they are not a control/combo deck, you just spent 4 mana to do nothing. And some decks like Control Warrior run Sir Finley, Sea Guide which can hard counter this card.
Until you see what kind of deck that counter aggressive deck right now. Heavy control deck with high survivability, And Warlock already counter thos..adding this card mean there is no reason to play control so it will push the game toward even more aggro.
It's a pretty good anti-control tech. 3 turns is a long time, though.
Ummm. I mean against Warrior or Priest I don't know... does Health = Mana for Priest quest?
Yes, quest priest cares about the number cost. Gh'uun cards counted I'm pretty sure.
A possible idea for that legendary would actually be in murloc warlock. Sometime you win board early dmg them but once they stabilize, you almost have no way to finish. This could mean they pass their turn or die. Still really unsure about the viability since its dead for a long portion of the game.
