Tavern Brawl
Hearthstone's newest gamemode, Tavern Brawl, has been officially announced.
Tavern Brawls
- Tavern Brawls launch mid-June.
- Admission to Tavern Brawls is free.
- It is a weekly event which has a custom deck building rule for that mode that everyone must adhere to.
- One week you may need to build your own deck, or you may be given a premade deck.
- The gamemode unlocks after you have leveled up any hero to level 20.
- There will be a couple of days delay after a brawl ends before a new one begins.
How it Works
- Each brawl has a new deckbuilding ruleset / theme.
- You will either build a deck or be given a preset deck depending on the brawl.
- If you are building a deck for that brawl, you must do so using your own card collection. (Source)
- You can fight as many times as you want in that week's Tavern Brawl with your deck.
- Total wins for that brawl will be shown on the brawl screen. (Source)
- You can only have one deck for each brawl, but your deck can be edited. Your brawl deck has its own deck slot on the brawl UI, like arena.
Rewards
- Winning your first brawl each week during the launch event will reward you with a Classic Card Pack. (Source / Source)
- There is no additional information at this time on rewards past the launch event.
- Daily quests can be completed in brawls. (Source)
- Just like play mode, winning brawls will give you 10 gold for every 3 wins. (Source)
New Patch Features
- New cosmetic heroes will be added to the game. Silhouettes for the Hunter and Mage can be found below.
- You will be able to assign a card back to each of your decks in the collection manager. This is done in the collection manager.
- You can set your favourite hero globally to choose which hero goes into battle with you during matches in the collection manager.
- You can also set specific heroes for individual decks.
Additional Clarifications
- No new cards will be released with the Tavern Brawls patch. (Source)
- No balance changes are currently planned for the patch. (Source)
- No more deck slots are being added. (Source)
- They're working towards more deck slots (Source)

Tavern Brawl Official Announcement
Quote from BlizzardThere’s a rumbling behind the doors of the Tavern. Hearthstone’s latest patch is coming soon and it introduces some big changes and features, so let’s throw open the doors and find out what’s next on tap!
Introducing Tavern Brawl!
Tavern Brawl is a new way to play Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft! Each week, a different Tavern Brawl will pit you head to head versus another player using exciting and unique rules. One week might feature preset decks, while another week could have you crafting a brand new Tavern Brawl deck following specific guidelines, while others might offer buffs to specific minion types—who knows!
Tavern Brawl can be found below the Play, Solo Adventures, and the Arena buttons on the main Hearthstone screen. You may have to toughen up before entering the fray—Tavern Brawl is unlocked once a player has a level 20 Hero.
The possibilities for fun inside Tavern Brawl are endless— the only thing you should expect is the unexpected!
Brawl with Buddies
While it’s fun to get into Tavern Brawls with strangers, it’s also a blast to brawl with your buddies! To start a Tavern Brawl with a friend, enter the Tavern Brawl menu, open your Friends List, and push the ‘Challenge’ button next to your friend’s name. After they accept, press the Brawl Friend button and let the battle begin!GET IN HERE
The first playable Tavern Brawl arrives in Mid-June, so get ready to pile on and knock some heads together. Brawls get plenty rowdy, so the Innkeeper will definitely need a couple of days after each one ends to get the inn all tidied up before the next brawl begins. That means Tavern Brawls are temporarily closed while the Innkeeper cleans up before a new, different brawl starts—so be sure to get a match or two in while you can! Stay up to date on when the next Tavern Brawl begins by keeping an eye on the official Hearthstone Twitter and Facebook.
Tavern Brawls will have free admission when the new mode becomes available. As part of the launch celebration, you'll earn a free card pack when you win your first game of the week in the first several brawls!New Challengers Appear
New Heroes put a fresh face on the classes you know and love. Each new Hero takes an iconic personage from Warcraft history and brings them to the inn. These Heroes feature animated portraits, a unique animated version of their Hero Power, personalized game board artwork, all new emotes, special match start animations, and a custom-themed card back. These Heroes will be available for purchase using real money in the Heroes section of the in-game shop.
Magni Bronzebeard, King of Khaz Modan and Thane of Ironforge, is the new Warrior Hero. This noble dwarf will bring the hammer down upon his foes! He’s not the only new face coming to the tavern, and there are more heroes yet to come:Keep in mind that new Heroes do not add new cards to your collection, change the classes’ Hero Power, and are not considered new classes.
Customize Your Decks
Customize each of your decks like never before by assigning each one its own card back! Your card back collection has been moved to the Collection Manager. Selecting a card back will give you a closer look at it and allow you to set it as your favorite, making it your default card back for all decks. If you want to assign a different card back to one of your decks, just open the deck you want to assign the card back to, select the card back tab in your Collection Manager, then drag your card back into the waiting card back slot.
Your new Heroes work the exact same way! Just go to the Heroes tab to see all the Heroes you’ve collected. Select a Hero and set them as a favorite, which will assign them to every deck you play with that class. You can also pick and choose Heroes for specific decks, so if a new Hero has joined your collection, you don’t have to leave an old favorite out in the cold.
Each deck in your collection can be assigned a unique card back and Hero.
Let the Games Begin!
We hope you enjoy all the new features coming with Patch 2.7. Be sure to get into a Tavern Brawl, add a new Hero to your roster, and have fun picking a different card back for each of your decks. We’ll see you at the inn!
people should stop complaining about the reward doesnt anyone of u heard of FUN.
we finally get a CASUAL that is CASUAL. and not CASUAL that is FACE HUNTER FILLED.
it should be fun unless hearthpwn or some other site include a option of brawl decks to copy which would suck and make it very competitive and as boring as casual or rank being so repetitive. but even if they do it there should be atleast a 2 day space b4 the netdeckers appear.
nope its not tyrande the silhouette is rocking a hood and not a ponytail , the boots is of a windrunner like sylvannas and not tyrande boots from HOTS also she is wearing a cape so its a windrunnner alright from the bow i would think its Alleria.
I agree. Tyrande doesn't typically have Ranger type gear as you see in the silhouette. Search for images of Tyrande - she is known for either metal armor or elegant dresses.
Plus Tyrande is a priest so she cannot be the hunter hero.
Priestess and priest are not the same lol rofl.
Yay i was right knew it was alleria coz of that bow
Isn't Tyrande a priestess? I mean, her title is "High Priestess of Elune." Yeah, her class is listed as hunter in some instances, but that seems like a contradiction.
if you can't tell the mage portrait is medivh, given the super distinctive spiky hood and shoulders, you need to brush up on ur warcraft knowledge
I'm still in denial - why would they poo on horde so hard by having Drawf/Human/Elf as the alternates and no show no Horde love?.. BibleThump
as a person who played 99.9% horde during my wow years, medivh is sick and i'm okay with this decision
anything that shows the karazhan love i dont mind at all!!
Well, Magni and whoever the night elf Hunter is make sense because the original classes are represented by Horde characters. As for the Mage, I'm not 100% sold that that's Medivh. Besides, even if it is, he's not aligned with the Alliance anyway. Also, isn't Medivh kind of, sort of half-demon or something? That's some representation for you.
Because dem dirty niggorcs scumbags aren't in the alliance kappa
At first I saw a horse in the new mage portrait
Can't wait for the Brawl!
Tavern Brawl: Coming Mid June!*
*Mid June in the year 2567 Kappa
the fitst brawl will occur at that time but that doesnt mean the patch is the patch might come earlier yay!!! more eyecandies.
This is Blizzard, not Valve (cough Half Life 3 cough).
I guess truth hurts when pretty much anyone who brings up the fact that there is no replay value for brawling people give a minus to your post. After the release event people are going to get bored with it and I guarantee it ends up being a tournament feature anyway. People say "for fun" but I would like to know the exact amount of people who play casual "for fun" cus lets be honest thats what this is, casual.
Well, don't know if you played casual lately, but casual is anything but casual. You face the same deck you face in ranked. So, I'm pretty happy about this new game mode which will basically force everyone to figure out new decks each weeks to adapt to the set of rules. I'm among those who actually play rank for fun, but with this game mode, I might just end up not playing rank mode ever again except to get the monthly cardback. Fighting the same deck over and over again can be fun as you know what you're up against and adapt your play to counter it, but the element of unknown is so much more exciting.
I play the entire game for fun. You weirdo.
Intriguing, but not too exciting...
