You play standard HS right? You understand games don't go longer than max 8 turns right?
For 10 mana? I thought we had better options than that years ago...
3 spells is a lot. I've been trying big spell variants and the problem isn't powerful payoffs it's having a reasonable early game or at least good catch up and survival mechanics. If mage can get that I can see big spell making a comeback.
So this is also a spell that could get cast by it, thus making you have two of them and doing nothing on the turn you play it.
What exactly do you want to be casting? The targets will be RANDOM as usual, severely limiting what you can put in your deck.
Flamestrike? If you need it to wipe their board and it doesn't hit it you probably lose. Mask of Cthun is a good hit. Deep Freeze is weak. Grand Finale is unlikely to do much. Apex Blast nope because you can't run only spells in big mage. Spring Water is a bust because you can't use the mana since it draws at end of turn. Arcane Overflow could hit your own minion if you had any.
And that's everything that costs 5 or more. What are you using this for!?
It's for few wild highlights (I will try it too) and then be forgotten and make you rage when you get in randomly in your hand.
Technically Arcane Overflow is scripted so that it targets only enemy minions. But otherwise, I agree. It’s costed way too much without having any worthwhile payoffs that we know of. The best case scenario would be cheating this out early with Clumsy Courier, but what a weak play that would be. You’d def need to be ahead or have access to good catch up tools. A giant spell that gains you armor + another powerful effect would be ideal.
Dude the full set hasn't been released yet and we will have another 3 expansions while this is in the meta, plus a new core set. Chill the fuck out.
Well, the card text states "cast another spell" so it can't cast itself, which is good.
I agree that in general the big payoff for using this doesn't seem good enough. Not unless there are more big spells that can put you ahead or keep you alive.
But if you run a lot of big spells and manage to successfully activate this without losing the game then maybe it'll help keep you ahead. It's cheating a lot of mana every turn, realistically.
Clumsy Courier on 7 casting this, which casts Deep Freeze at the end of your turn, freezing something and putting a lot of stats on board, then the turns after it gets another big spell, so... maybe this card can put in work, y'know?
I'm not confident "another spell" excludes other copies of this card, because I cannot trust that they thought about such interaction beforehand and implemented it properly even if they did.
I didn't notice Arcane Overflow only hits enemy minions, but that also means it could hit nothing if their board is empty and be wasted. Mask of Cthun is really the only spell target that would be useful in nearly any situation.
The concept that this card can only be good if cheated out is really the fundamental issue that has been ruining the game of late. So much draw and discount that cards can ONLY work as such.
There are still 6 cards to be announced (1 hero card).
Nice flavour
This is probably going to be 0 Mana after the Mage Herocard gets revealed, smelling something cheesy here...
Close enough. Gonna be 5 mana if drawn with Balinda Stonehearth, new legendary.
No not Balinda, the Herocard Varden will be busted (yet again) is my prediction.
It won't go into the same deck as Balinda. My guess is the hero card is... probably some sort of control-y card. Hard removal or something like that. Another cycling hero power maybe.
Way too expensive and too random to see play. You don't always want to play a specific spell on the turn that is is going to randomly cast it. Also it's just a lot better to play incanter's flow and cheap stuff tbh.
this card is so god damn slow, why it isnt at least 8 mana?
Because Clumsy Courier is a card.
interesting
Support for a new archetype that looks half baked.
