How to play this Brawl
This is a VERY unusual brawl. You start by picking one of 5 classes, which will let you "play" with a premade deck. In my case the deck was a fairly standard Quest Mage deck by the look of it.
Then once the game starts, instead of playing your cards like you are used to, you get to pick 1 action from a selection of 3, and that is the ONLY input you have during your turn.
The rest is the AI playing your turn for you. If this sounds like it will be a constant misplay party, then based on the 1 game we played, it seems this will not be the case too much. There's optimizations that could be made (my opponent's AI did not play around Iceblock as well as it could have, it had the option to leave me at 1 health and instead hit me when I was still at 4) but there's also quite clever plays (I chose the option to have my cards reduced by 2 mana, but no less than 2, and my AI used this to play coin + Incanter's Flow on turn 1, instead of the Mage Quest. I lost in the end, but that was a good play and it probably kept me in it.) and all in all it seemed like my actions between turns were more impactful than any good or bad plays the AI made.
The options between turns were, among other things: Reduce the cost of your cards by 2, but not less than 2. Draw 4 cards. Summon 3 random pirates, they have Rush. Copy your opponent's minions. And more!
Finally a good and funny brawl, thank you.
EDIT: The AI is worse than against the Innkeeper...
Hunter is the only "good" class sadly for this brawl..
The bot always uses the coin on turn 1 regardless or not there's a car it can play with it
Pretty sure it's designed to play all cards it can play, always.
Not the worst idea in the world but oh boy is the AI terrible. I picked priest and it literally uses the hero power to heal the opponent's minions. It cast a spell that increase both hero's health (I was at 30) so all it did was heal my opponent while also buffing his board thanks to him having two crossroad watch posts there. yikes on all the bikes, just awful
i just played priest also! stupid AI kept using all MY BUFFs on enemy minions!!!
So Priest also worst class in Brawl? I see a theme here.
hahaha best reply!
I enjoy this mode, its original. BUT the AI is STUPID :))
Hah, I really liked this one.
This brawl at least seems to be AI playing the worst possible plays they can with completely unbalanced decks. Is that the TRICK or treat we get from this brawl? There is a deck with pirate synergy and there are pirate treasures while one of the decks contains few to no minions but still gets offered handbuffs for treasures. What were they thinking?
Kudos for trying something new, but really, really poor execution.
This has to be literally the worst brawl ever created. Who thought it would be a good idea to create a Brawl where you literally only get to watch the AI stupidly play your cards for you.
And there is seemingly no attempt to balance the decks either. Mage got shafted with an all-spells Questline deck when the AI doesn't know how to complete the Quest (except accidentally) and can't benefit from the +5/+5 treasure. Priest AI seems deliberately programmed to cast buffs and HP on opponent's minions. Like wtf??
This brawl's a fking joke. I went in and saw pick a class and was given a pre-made deck and thought to myself "Wow, it looks like blizz is finally using brawls for what they're meant for and letting people test the new cards!"
NOPE!
Instead you spend the whole match clicking treasures (just the +5/5 one, pirate rush, or opponent copying ones cause the others are too slow or the AI is too stupid to play them right) while you watch an auto-battle where the AI has been cranked down to 0 and does nothing but wrong or stupid plays. Watched the damn thing use a 1 mana 5 damage to kill a 1 hp minion rather than the 2 mana clear the enemies entire board which was about it end the game. My favorite was when the AI at 1 mana played a 1 mana minion then played the coin then ended turn. There were 2 mana minions in the hand and plenty of hand space btw.
