How to play this Brawl
This is a VERY unusual brawl. You start by picking one of 5 classes, which will let you "play" with a premade deck. In my case the deck was a fairly standard Quest Mage deck by the look of it.
Then once the game starts, instead of playing your cards like you are used to, you get to pick 1 action from a selection of 3, and that is the ONLY input you have during your turn.
The rest is the AI playing your turn for you. If this sounds like it will be a constant misplay party, then based on the 1 game we played, it seems this will not be the case too much. There's optimizations that could be made (my opponent's AI did not play around Iceblock as well as it could have, it had the option to leave me at 1 health and instead hit me when I was still at 4) but there's also quite clever plays (I chose the option to have my cards reduced by 2 mana, but no less than 2, and my AI used this to play coin + Incanter's Flow on turn 1, instead of the Mage Quest. I lost in the end, but that was a good play and it probably kept me in it.) and all in all it seemed like my actions between turns were more impactful than any good or bad plays the AI made.
The options between turns were, among other things: Reduce the cost of your cards by 2, but not less than 2. Draw 4 cards. Summon 3 random pirates, they have Rush. Copy your opponent's minions. And more!
Blizzard's stock price isn't the only thing that dropped to a 52-week low today.
I'm roughly 20 games in without a win... this is by far the dumbest Tavern Brawl ever released.
dumbest player ;D
Incredible AI. Turn 1 Draconic Studies into Coin nothing. Turn 2 heal my opponent's face for no reason with Priest HP. Winning one time might be really painful.
I just took your advice and am doing the same. Noone should witness these AI plays.
Good outing yourself, though
Do you remember when the devs said they had a super-powerful AI that they used in balance testing pre-release? Pepperidge Farm remembers
I don't but it'd explain a lot.
Chaki mentioned it during some interview I think. Years ago though.
Blizzard had us in the first half, not gonna lie.
Just press alt+tab and hopes to win
This must be the dumbest brawl ever made; not sure if I should laugh when "spectating" this brawl or cry as it makes cringeworthy "choices" for you. By far this brawl belongs on April Fools... but alas, some of those plays are fantastic to look at. Well, off to spectate some more for my free pack now!
The AI is the worst I ever seen, wtf...
I had Rexxar and had 7 Doggie Biscuit in my hand, bec of Tolin's Goblet and the AI is just to stupid to use that spell... He didnt cast them the entire game... not even used Trade... So I had 7 dead cards in my hand.
This is possibly the worst brawl I can remember.
YIKES
I played 7 games on the Americas server.
General tips: Get a board. Get it early and keep improving it. If you lose board you are in trouble.
The 0/8 Treasure is a bit of a trap. IF you use it, your minions will kill it and not go face, even if you could easily set up 2 turn lethal that way. The treasure is random between the options of the Rogue treasures from Heistbaron Togwaggle and you obv have no say in which the AI chooses. if it picks double legendary summon, it;s probably going to be good. If it picks draw 3 and make them cost 0, also probably very nice. Draw a card and fill your hand with it, probably not great, unless you draw the nuts.
Summon copy of opponents board gives you their minions, but in base form. So no buffs, but also undamaged.
If you have 4 or less minions, it's probably almost always a good idea to summon 3 Pirates with Rush. The AI typically tries to clear the opponent board with the rushers and keeps your other minions to help go face. This is what makes them the superior choice over copying board, cuase those do NOT get rush, which means you lose the board almost as quickly as you get it usually.
The +5/+5 stats on a minion is pretty useful if you can get it stacked on 1 minion in your hand at the start of the game. After the first turn or 2 I feel it;s probably too slow cause the other side will be playing 3 rushers for free most turns, and then +5/+5 without rush or anything is basically useless.
STATS:
Mage: played 2, won 1. The AI seems a little oblivious in how to handle the quest. Downside of not having minions for the +5/+5. Upside of having plenty of removal. Probably too reliant on getting good rush minions from the Pirate summon.
Shaman: played 1, won 1. Has an evolve deck, so going +5/+5 is pretty useless beyond maybe the first turn or 2. Has weapons so can go face with them, which is a nice boon.
Hunter: played 1, won 1. Seems like a nice balanced deck. Has some removal and some automatic face damage with Hero Power. Has minions for the +5/+5.
Warrior: played 2, won 1. The game I lost was a mirror match. The pirate summon does not work for the quest (that would have been utterly broken). Has weapons and a Quest Pirate deck that works fairly well.
Priest: Played 1, won 1. Priest is either broken or the Devs are being cheeky. Anduin puts several buffs and his Hero Power to use by healing and buffing the opponent. That seems broken, but I can't rule out that the devs did this on purpose, because the name of him is "Prince Charming Anduin" so I can see it being a way to show he's charming the opponent by healing them. Far fetched? Probably, but it's my head cannon till they fix it. :P
Otherwise Priest seems okay. Has minions, has removal. No direct damage though, so you need to win on board. Probably skip the class if you want an easy win, until they fix him healing and buffing the opponent.
about the treasure chest bonus, the AI doesn't choose the treasure, it works just like Marin the Fox, giving you a random one from the pool.
Oh is that it? the change was so fast I wasn;t sure if it actually picked anything or not. I only used it twice, cause it seemed useless even without trying it.
Thanks for clearing that up!
The "copy your opponent's board" does not copy ANY buffs, not just rush. My priest opponent used it on me after buffing with Elekk Mount and didnt get the Elekk Mount buff.
Honestly idk if these bots are programmed to be the worst players ever or to BM
