Balance Changes Coming Tomorrow - 8 Changes In Total!
Blizzard just announced 8 balance changes that will go live tomorrow. Let's take a look at what's going to get changed.
One change that you should know about:
- Fixed a bug where completing all Book of Heroes installments would not display the proper achievement or give the proper award. All players who have already completed all 10 Book of Heroes will automatically receive the proper award of a Golden Standard pack.

Dev Comments: After two weeks of monitoring the rapidly evolving United in Stormwind launch metagame, we’re making a few balance changes to slow down the speed of the game by a turn or two. Overall, this translates to two things: limiting the efficiency at which combo decks can assemble the pieces they need to win, and reducing the burst damage that board-based decks have access to from hand. We hope that these changes will give a bit more room for slower strategies to find success in this meta, and we’ll continue to keep an eye on the live game to see if any further changes are needed.

Arena Balance Update
We’ve updated the appearance rate of cards to ensure class balance remains close to the ideal 50% win-rate. Specifically, the win-rate of Druid, Warrior, and Demon Hunter should now be decreased. The win-rate of Mage, Priest, Rogue, and Shaman should now be increased. The win-rate of the other classes should be roughly the same as before.
Bug Fixes & Game Improvements
- Updated the Stealer of Souls animation to now only trigger if the card ends up in your hand (it does not trigger for cards that are Cast When Drawn, such as Soul Shards). The animation will also no longer trigger if the drawn card already costs Health instead of Mana (such as when you have two Stealer of Souls in play).
- Fixed card text errors for Psyfiend and Florist (no functional change to either).
- Fixed a bug where Prismatic Jewel Kit would trigger when effects returned a Divine Shield minion to the owner’s hand or moved a Divine Shield minion from the owner’s hand to the owner’s deck.
- Fixed a bug where Seek Guidance (the Priest questline) would sometimes count the original Cost of cards, instead of the Cost actually paid for the card.
- Fixed a bug where the Initiate Set version of Eye Beam did not properly display card art in the Collection Manager.
- Fixed a bug where Reborn Rites, The Lich King’s Battlegrounds hero power, caused players to disconnect from the game server.
- Added interactions between Pave the Way (part of the Paladin Questline) and Duels-specific hero powers.
- Fixed various bugs in Book of Heroes Gul’dan and Book of Heroes Illidan.
- Fixed a bug where Duels achievements were not tracking properly.
- Fixed a bug where Witchwood collection achievements triggered even though the requirements were not yet met.
- Fixed a bug where completing all Book of Heroes installments would not display the proper achievement or give the proper award. All players who have already completed all 10 Book of Heroes will automatically receive the proper award of a Golden Standard pack.
What little set up? The set up was often Conviction Rank 2.
So the conviction combo which previously cost 6 or 7 mana now costs 8 or 10 mana. If you think that's "absolutely nothing".....
Nerfing Flow to 3 isn't even close to enough.
Little set up means : stick big minion + play Battlemaster = win the game, Warlock play Giant for nothing , Paladin play stealth minions + Blessing of Authority then Battlemaster... Rogue play Scabbs + stealth buff then Battlemaster , decks that played Battlemaster are going to kill you in the same way , so a 1 mana 'nerf' on Battlemaster does nothing.
Paladin wasn't sticking big minions. The change is meant clearly for Paladin primarily. Warlock gets it one turn later as well.
Nice prank, now show us the real nerfs
The most significant of the nerf is the OTK DH one. The 2 mana is actually rather substantial, as now the entire combo will always be 2 mana slower. As many have said, warlock will take over completely now. The flesh giant change was absolutely nothing, and a lot of the burst from Paladin was slowed way down.
We may also see a Miracle Rogue meta as well if lock runs away with the meta too hard. It was already favored into lock, and being untouched, it will be even stronger into it.
TLDR: Warlock will be big boi unless Rogue makes it smol boi.
What a joke set of nerf.
It means they want the meta stay this way. Combo vs Aggro.
I actually only crafted it thinking it would get nerfed so I would get a full refund on it lol.
I got it from pack, RIP 1600 dust.
What a joke
These only seem to be very small nerfs that won't change the meta a lot. Incanter's Flow nerf was way overdue and I'd say a better nerf would be that spells cost cannot be reduced below 1.
That is the best suggestion I have seen around here.
Mostly happy with how they changed the cards, darkglare and flesh giant might still be problematic though.
Warlock's Questline / Stealer of Souls is not touched.... so RIP Wild mode for another month or weeks.....
Wild is a sad story. These changes doesn't help at all. At this point wild mode is basically crying for a system with card bans.
wait, so they actually buffed warlock in wild? what the actual heck? darkglare nerf is meaningless, flesh giant nerf has no effect, battlemaster was a win-more card anyway, but scroll all the way to the bottom...
"Updated the Stealer of Souls animation to now only trigger if the card ends up in your hand (it does not trigger for cards that are Cast When Drawn, such as Soul Shards). The animation will also no longer trigger if the drawn card already costs Health instead of Mana (such as when you have two Stealer of Souls in play)."
so basically now the way to survive a turn and possibly win - the animations taking too long - has now been taken away? am I reading this right?
Where is warlock quest nerf?
I see it will be elemental shaman meta, just like last exp...
I wish, they nerfed Flesh Giant to 10 mana, for my Evenlock.
Hahahahah What about legendaries, you clowns?
