I feel like, on average, this is just a “weaker” version of the 4 mana 5/3 Demon hunter card with rush that has “outcast: gain immune this turn.”
This is better than that played onto an empty board, as a 4 mana 3/5 divine shield in its own right isn’t bad, but it also doesn’t blow my hair back.
Paladins already have a 5 mana 5/5 divine shield that corrupts into an 8/8 with taunt and that sees no play at all.
I don't actually think it's a relevant comparison, but Carousel Griffin does see play (in N'Zoth Paladin -- which is the only relevant Paladin deck it would see play in outside of Corrupt Paladin, but I've never seen anyone play that).
It would be good in the hand buff days, but those days are gone, so how are you going to get it to 4 attack when you play it? The options are very limited at the moment.
Jewel Kit, Invigorating Sermon, Runthak, even Raid Leader/Darkmoon Statue.
I think it's possible there's more hand/deck buff cards in the set too.
This card has potential. I find turn 4 is often a weak turn in Paladin now, unless you have Cariel. It depends on if the divine shield / handbuff strategy will work or not. I'm skeptical unless some of the other cards available buff your hand.
There's no way that Invigorating Sermon ever sees play, so we need some new cards to make this work.
I am optimistic about the Prismatic Jewel Kit but if you don't draw that in your opening hand it isn't very good. Paladin needs something more.
I dunno why you think Invigorating Sermon would never see play. I think primarily in the last meta there was just never a minion-heavy enough Paladin deck to justify it. I think when you have actual payoff minions for it that have Rush (like this card) that help you make up for the tempo loss from basically doing nothing on turn 4.
Not to say that's a sure thing, but I wouldn't just dismiss it out of hand.
Hmmm so they are trying to make a Divine shield + Handbuff archetype. Could be interesting if it works with more support.
I've never been one to play much Handbuff Paladin in Wild, but if I did, this card would be a welcome addition
You're the type of player I dream to queue up against
How?
worse than the other card that works this way, and I cant even remember that cards name because that's how bad it was
Silvermoon Guardian is crying in a corner.
definitely better than Ghostly Charger crap...
The rush part is a battle cry so it does need to be hand buffed
Or at the very least deck buffed.
It doesn't have to be handbuffed, though. Drop this and then Hand of A'dal and it should gain Rush in that same turn.
Edit: Ah, missed the battlecry part.
libram paladin will play this, 4 mana 4/5 or 5/6 Divine Shield Rush is pretty good right ?
The only interesting thing about this card is the fact it got revealed
Good one...
Solid. Boring.
