This game has ALWAYS differentiated from other card games because RNG is not a limitation, IT'S A RESOURCE. If you didn't saw that ever, I guess you were missing a big part of the game. Literally since the beginning of the game, A LOT of games were defined by a Sylvanas, Ragnaros, Tinkmaster, etc... And guess what. They're RNG based. Discover was the best mechanic of the game. And yes. It's RNG based. RNG is a resource. Some decks rely more on it, some. decks don't. This is not a linear game like Magic, where you draw, you play, you win or lose. My advice to anyone not liking this is simple: don't play this game. Because that's how it is, and that's how it has been since ALWAYS, and how it'll be until it reaches his end.
I'm glad that during the latest expansions they decided to focus in what the game's really about: crazy shit that makes every game feel different.
There's nothing wrong with Rag, or sylv, or tink. I can play around Rag by staying above 8 health. All three can be played around by playing a bunch of small minions. It also creates decisions like "do I play around aoe or do I play around Rag? Can I find a line that beats both?" Those are fine. They encourage players to think about the game, and there's finite possibilities to play around.. I also don't have much of a problem with discover. It encourages planning out turns and adapting to what you get. I think that sometimes Blizzard goes overboard and prints too much of it, but generally it's a positive addition to the game.
Now, at what point did I complain about any of those? I'm talking specifically about Yogg and cards like Yogg. Those don't encourage thinking or planning because they can't be thought or planned around. How much damage does Yogg do to my face? How many stats does it put in play? How much can it remove? I can't possibly know any of those things. There's no way to play around it because neither player has any clue what will happen. It's just a braindead hail marry.
I really hate the argument that I should stop playing this game entirely just because I have a problem with a few of the cards. I still enjoy the games where these cards don't get played. The fact that I enjoy the game despite these cards doesn't mean I shouldn't complain about them. Part of liking this game is that I want it to get better. Yogg style effects actively make it worse. I have a right to voice my opinion.
I agree that rng creates a certain amount of variety, and that's good. However, Blizzard can do that just fine without printing the sorts of cards I'm complaining about. Or if they do, they should weak enough that they don't see play. Academic Espionage is a good example. It's great if you just want to mess around for a bit but it's weak enough that players that get frustrated by that type of thing don't have to play against it much.
Damn Darkmoon is crazy good. It’s basically 7 mana give your opponent a 4/4, and almost always steal a better minion.
So, more trash rng so the only decks that will demand skill from you are aggro
Uh the only RNG card is yogg my dude, and thats kind of his deal.
Yes but that's the most toxic rng possible
Its one card. The world will continue to turn I promise
One card that literally ends game, you must be dumb if you think that's healthy
I feel like dancing. Because all I'm hearing is SWING!
So many people about to be pissed about Yogg.
Obviously, he's a troll and/or just kidding...
Artifact O_o
Look at all this ridiculous powercreep. Can't believe they gave mage another wave of rng cards, I'm so sick of this created by meta. Also, shaman cards suck as usual. Worst expansion ever. This game is doomed and the developers have given up.
Well, I guess Artifact remains the king of digital card games.
Did they even reveal any cards yet??
I feel like this was done sarcastically, because nothing has been revealed yet... but it could also be a placeholder for the imminent hate for anything that is revealed because, let's be fair, lots of people are going to be unhappy regardless of the outcome.
Yeah, I agree, this will be the likely response...
It's one rng card bro and its yogg, chill
noice
Hype!
