The Lurker Below doesn't have to target the Rogue's Prime itself. The Lurker Below cares about board positioning, so basically, if you make it go from either the far left or the far right, as long as a minion dies, the damage keeps hitting adjacent minions. And one of the weaknesses Rogue has is that this minions they have are going to be wiped out by just about every 3 damage board clear. Sure, you have cards like Underbelly Fence, EVIL Miscreant and Togwaggle that could survive The Lurker Below's effect, but one of Shaman's strengths is that they summon swarms of minions to negate that. If I am correct, The Lurker Below repeats the Battlecry every time it kills a minion.
Owl's going to be teched in to deal with the non-prime version of the Primes - this thing only gets value if the Rogue deliberately kills it. Meaning it has to burn an Eviscerate or Backstab that could have been used to take out another minion, or deliberately sit on it and wait to trade into a stronger minion. You're trying to deliberately kill the non-Prime version of the card for potential value later, otherwise it's a fancier version of Spider Tank. The other Primes revealed so far are a lot stronger because A) they have IMMEDIATE value when they are played, B) the way they change the game immediately makes this Prime's Permanent Stealth look pathetic by comparison, and C) Permanent Stealth is pretty weak when you have board clears and certain strategies exist to get around the Permanent Stealth.
not everyone has access to board clears and untargeted single target clears are things that only rogue(onyx spellstone which is already in wild btw) and hunter can do8deadly shot and rotnest drake) so, yeah this card is being understimated, the only problem is solving how to survive the game until this comes down, honestly with a deck that is ridicously high on tempo you could do it,
Initially looks weakish but there's got to be cards printed that support this that we haven't seen yet. Plus if it sees any amount of play everyone is going to have to tech a card in to the deck that somehow deals with a stealthed minion.
It was pretty much a given that rogues prime was not going to be as good as the others since rogue is already high tier at doing anything required to make the primes work (shuffling, drawing, deathrattle activation, heck even battlecry).
That said, it makes me wonder what kind of impact a card like this had in the playtest meta, since it is statted so low and is a prime legendary. I think the idea is that this might go face every turn for six and a heavy controll rogue (maybe with secrets) is going to take advantage of that.
Its most certainly not at home in a tempo rogue list.
I like the card. both bodies are good considering the mana. the effect is interesting and can be really annoying for the opponent. pretty good
Hoping there's a Shadow Sensei in standard or a better support for this archetype this year for stealth rogue to be a dream come true!
Don't leave us hopeless similar to what happened with the shuffle archetype.
I agree with you.. but now that leeroy is gone rogue needs a new win condition
Shadow of Death
Arena filler. Wont see play
For a class with combo, tricks, steal other class cards, and other fun stuff, this is a pretty boring legendary.
Don't be fooled by the Permanent Stealth, this card is absolute weaksauce. Since people know that this card is going to crap a minion that is permanently Stealthed when it dies, Akarma is going to be prime Owl/Polymorph bait. Not to mention that board clears will have no issue dealing with this, Priest Galakrond can nuke it with it's Battlecry, and Rotnest Drake/Deadly Shot can easily take it out if it's the only minion on your board. The Lurker Below (which was revealed a short while ago) can take this out easily if you don't pay attention to board placement if it's boosted by Corrupt the Waters.
You have to jump through hoops to make this card work for you. I have not been this unimpressed since Uther of the Ebon Blade (without equal the worst Death Knight in the game), and this looks to be the weakest of the Primes.
Let's review:
Warrior's Prime comes back as a 10/10 with Rush that gives you 10 Armor when it kills a minion.
Druid's Prime can either come back as a 9/9 with Rush, or it summons another 9/9 with Taunt.
Shaman's Prime comes back as a 5/4 that draws 3 spells from your deck with a 3-mana discount on each of them.
Mage's Prime comes back as a 7/7 that's essentially a mini-Yogg Saron with almost no drawback.
What does Rogue's Prime get?
Permanent Stealth?
That's it?!?!
To top it off it's understatted at 6 mana !
"0/10 dies to big AOE or RNG targeted removal"
Also, Garrosh DK was the worst one, not Uther.
Stealth dont work that way tho, you cant really target a stealthed minion with anything so owl and poly wont work.
Also im prety sure that 'the lurker below' combined with the shaman battlecry hp wil just do 3 damage to a minion twice and from then on just deal 3 damage.
Anything else you said still holds true
The thing is that Rogue has a lot of deathrattle shenanigans. Rogue and priest NEED to have weaker primes because they can have a LOT of then. Sure the prime alone is not strong enough as the other ones. But what about 5 of them?
Deathrattle rogue ftw
It is true that all the prime cards will be weak against Silence. But the removal of spellbreaker means that silince will be less common in decks. The owl is a weak tech card, and will see play, but silence just became a less common ability, more suited for priests and DH. I think this card, if played correctly, will be really good in Highlander rogue. But again, thats just my thoughts
Cool card.
3/4 stealth - prime stats. Solid card. Weak to silence if it survives the first trade - but spell breaker is gone so silence is less abundant.
6/5 - Perm stealth. Bunkers if played on curve. The catch? You have to draw it. If it's drawn late it loses a lot of value as players might draw and answer to it: big clears, random effects, big taunts etc.
Remember Elise? Both versions cards shuffled a card in your deck (a pack or a tressure map) and my god I can't remember how many times that card was in the bottom 10 of my deck.
Good thing he does not have high health. AOE spells it is. Mass Hysteria, Twisting Nether. Some taunt minions. etc etc.
Your wish is my suggest.
