Season 2 of the Hearthstone Grandmasters tournament is underway. Refueled with a fresh take on the Conquest Format, the season consists of 8 weeks of action followed by a week of playoffs. The winning player from each of the three regions earns the right to compete at the Global Finals to become Hearthstone's next World Champion!
- Gallon is new to the Grandmasters scene. He replaces Dog, who withdrew from the tournament after season 1.
- Team Genji leads all competitive teams with 6 Grandmasters competing in the tournament.
- It was a bad week for Season 1 winners, with PNC, Fenomeno, and Surrender all going 0-2 to start the tournament.
- All 48 participants brought a Warrior deck and a Mage deck, widely considered the strongest classes in the meta.
The action will continue with Week 2 beginning next Friday. Tune in to the official PlayHearthstone Twitch channel to see what impact the upcoming nerf patch will have on the competitive scene. PlayHearthstone

Quote from BlizzardWe’re excited to share that BlizzCon will be the destination for the Hearthstone Global Finals this November! 8 players will duke it out at the Anaheim Convention Center in sunny California for their share of the $500,000 prize pool, the trophy, and the title of Hearthstone World Champion!
Both end-of-season playoffs will qualify one Grandmaster from each region to the Global Finals, meaning three Grandmasters will qualify through the Season 1 Playoffs, with three more qualifying through the Season 2 Playoffs. The final two players will qualify in through China’s Gold Open Series Playoffs, which will take place on July 20 and October 6.
all season one winners are in last places ..
Isn't Purple Canadian?
Yes he is... looks like the flag is wrong.
Hunerace continues his win0streak from last season, that's quite nice... Also beat Kolento and Thijs that ae considered strong (despite Thijs performing really bad on season 1)
Will definitely he hoping for him to qialify to worlds this time.
kolento and thijs are the most overrated players of all times
Sure, getting 10-4 on the first season usually means you're the one of the two most overrated player of all times, as is being former european champion and qualifying to GM through earnings...
Pavel PogU
Wrong, the SamuelTsao vs Tyler Mage vs Mage was the best match. Awesome casting.
All 3 winners went 0-2. They don't want to win, when they've got guaranteed qualification? :P (just askin, didn't watch them)
@edit "All 48 participants brought a Warrior deck and a Mage deck, widely considered the strongest classes in the meta." I see I lost a lot...
Them qualifying has nothing to do with it, they obivously still really want to win, that's just a coincidence (or them being that much better in specialist, probably). The weird thing will be if any of them gets relegated after qualifying for world championship.
Thanks for an answer. My post wasn't shitpost, I was rly curious :P
Hey guys, it's "Americas" not "North America." Huge difference.
You are totally right. Oversight on our part. Fixed.
Well played
Boring post. Has tons of down votes on Hearthpwn because all the posts feel the same. No excitement, surprises, nothing.
Same posts, different article.
Thx for putting the standings up there. Hope Pavel will show what he’s capable of.
If you want to waste 45 min. of you life, just watch a single warrior mirror match.
I caught the end of a 1 hour and 13 min one. They were literally amazed that the turn timer hadn't ended on the broadcast.
That kind of competing is no fun for anyone. Not the players and not the viewers. Hopefully the Dr. Boom nerf will help eleviate some of this.
Though, in a mirror match it will just mean both players have the same downside and it will still be slow.
Or they could just cut the rope timer in half for tournaments.
As boring as that match may have been to watch it was actually a very interesting match to watch for the last 20-30 mins as players tried to figure out how to stretch resources and keep the board stabilized.
